A bubble to break. And secret past to uncover. A deadly tyrant who’s stolen the crown. And a prophecy that might just change everything. An infuriating mortal female with a deathwish. And four sinfully handsome and powerful brothers. Shadow and Darkness, the dual-perspective sequel to Shadows and Shade, immediately continues Shade’s adventure, bringing us out of the White Castle, through the … bringing us out of the White Castle, through the depths of the forest, and into Silvari civilization to figure out how she can burst the bubble that keeps her tethered to the alluring brothers.
Commander Pax is fighting the instincts that scream Shade is his regardless of what he’s decided is best. Roarke, a master of manipulating others’ desires, is finding that his own are actually the hardest to resist. Seth, the trickster, is always ready to make someone laugh or smile, but he’s finding that there are other things he’d rather do with Shade. Killian is seeded with a power and hunger that makes him a threat to others, but his dangerous darkness is inexplicably drawn to Shade despite the risks.
With all the other threats they need to overcome, will the brothers be able to withstand the temptation of a simple mortal girl?
The Shadows and Shade series features a slow burn WhyChoose romance that will cross from young adult to new adult content.

Every once in a while, an author does something so special and creates a story and characters you feel are part of your life. Amanda Cashure’s Shadows and Shade series embodies this. She has created a world I want to inhabit. Shade is a character I would gladly become in a heartbeat. It wouldn’t even matter that it would mean a lot of physical pain since she’s always getting zapped, chased or generally broken in some way nearly all the time. From characters that are so well described you can see them flesh and bone before you to action that leaves you desperate to see what happens, it always seems like a race to the finish.
Shadow and Darkness is a return to this world with everything kicked up a notch. The enemies are deadlier, the connections are steamier, the pranks are… still just as funny. We’ve got feathers this time! This book ends with our characters in yet another major predicament, of course. But as the story has continued, you’ll have had this amazing feeling that you’ve gone on the journey with these characters. How the bonds have formed between individuals and the group will leave you feeling like they’re stronger than even they believe. You will be certain in your heart that somehow they are going to find a way out of the situation they find themselves in. If anyone can find a way for four Elite Saber Seeds and a mortal to find a way to form bonds, triumph over evil, and be together, it’s this pentad.
I received an ARC of this book. I love the development of the story and the direction that it has taken. The added POV in this book gave the characters more depth and created a personal aspect between them. The chemistry between the characters has grown into something amazing that I can’t wait to see how it turns out. Seth is still my favorite, but I adore Killian even more after this book.
This book was hard to put down. It picks up right where book 1 leaves off and things get more interesting. The intricate plot woven in with hints of romance kept me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed the changing POV and look forward to future books.
WOW! The only steaming bits in book were a few kisses. What a change! This is an excellent story. Everyone from young teen boys with fighting, to the older girls will enjoy the depth of the story. Right from the start it went off with a bang. So much so that I found it hard to put down. This story had some real meat on its bones. Definite
foreshadowing and building up the characters individually. This was a treat to read.
I really think that Killien is my favorite guy. Then Seth. The Darkness always has a reason for it. And he is just such a great character!! I highly highly recommend this book and series!! I can’t wait to read the next book! I love it!
This story just keeps getting more and more intriguing. We see Shade growing throughout this story as well as the others. Their bond is getting stronger as friends and family. This story is extremely well written and the characters are beautifully developed. It is a fantastic series and yes it send in a cliffhanger, which I can’t wait to read the next book. It is still full of drama, suspense and mystery. It is a gripping story. This is a must read!!!!!!
Book 2 picks up right after book 1. Shade and the guys are leaving on a mission and trying to find a way to break the bubble. Of course, nothing can go smoothly, and between attacks, flirting, riddles and mysterious powers, Shade is trying to figure out her place. I like that the guys challenge her. Although Killian annoyed me a couple times. I am hooked and can’t wait to see what happens next!
Let me start off by saying that I’m not typically a fan of slow burn books; they just don’t hold my attention. But this friggin series… it’s just SO GOOD!! I seriously just read books 1 & 2 in 1 1/2 days because I just couldn’t put it down. I’m not even a huge fantasy lover either because it’s normally hard for me to wrap my head around a completely made up world, but the amount of detail that Ms. Cashure gives just paints the perfect picture. Shade is really coming into her own and may be more than mortal? I can’t wait to see where this goes next and exactly how this prophecy is going to play out, though to be honest, I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of tears before the end of this series.. and not the good tears that you get from all the laughs. Oh and can I just say I LOVE Shade and Seth’s dynamic.
Couldn’t get enough of shade and her men. I love them all. The characters are all amazingly written and the world is described so well. I could picture it all clearly while reading. I can’t wait to see what happens next !
I love this series so much I cannot tell you. I am enjoying getting to know the characters more and more, seeing more of their individuality come across is brilliant. It also shows how and why they operate so well as a team. I love knowing what is going on in Killians mind. Those little snippets just make me like him more. The world they live in is expanding as they travel and it’s interesting to learn how things work and where their place in it is. I love how Shade does not just cowtow to them, but at the same time she’s not over the top and arsy. I love watching their relationships grow and watching Shade as she tries to work out what is going on around her. I cannot wait for the next book!!!
Holy Alphaseed, Batman!
Well it happened. To be fair it was inevitable when you’re bubble trapped and unable to walk away. Even knowing it’s bad for her, Shade went and got possessively attached to the Elorsin brothers.
Shade’s struggle to survive carries on from the first book but now she’s also struggling to find her place in the pentad.
Unfortunately, the brothers are just as lost on what to do with her other than the need to pop the bubble.
I loved the dual POV. It was only one of the brothers and I’m thinking it’s gonna change out each book. Getting a peek behind the mask helps round out the interactions with the guys a bit.
Picking up where book one ended, it carries on as they travel on their mission/pop the bubble. Even though Killian is our brother POV I believe this book gives the most insight into Pax. Answers and backstory galore into what built his character as he is now.
I stalked this series long before it even released originally and jumped on this book as soon as it landed. Most book series that have multiples already planned can drag a bit with world and character building. There’s a bit of it here but you do get some sneak peek into the sexual tension that’s definitely gonna get the best of them.
I was provided an ARC for an honest review.
Shade (MFC) has been a whirlwind of things in this series but the majority of it is really entertaining and some bits down right hilarious. When she’s not being sarcastic she’s probably getting hurt. Which she seems to have a knack for in this book. As well as rubbing her Pentad (Pax, Killian, Seth and Roake) up the wall, they’re trying to get her out of dangerous situations or they’re trying to stop themselves from getting to close to her. To form an attachment that could be dangerous. Except they fear it might be a bit late for that. I’m enjoying this series a great deal and the banter as well as the practical jokes between them which are very funny. Absolutely loved this book
