A modern man, a medieval woman. Fate brought them together, but will history tear them apart? When his older brother disappears before his eyes, Greyson McCaim is determined to find him—even if he has to travel back in time. Because it turns out their “crazy” father was right: their mother didn’t leave them willingly. She’s a time traveler, and someone pulled her back to her original home in … to her original home in medieval Scotland. Now Rhys is there too while the other McCaim brothers are stuck in modern-day New Orleans. They keep reciting the chant that sent Rhys back, and it finally works—but only for Greyson. Miserably unprepared for medieval life, he is saved by fate’s choice to dump him at the feet of the uncle he never knew he had. The two set off to learn what happened to Greyson’s mother and brother, but their mission is derailed when they encounter an earl’s daughter in need of help.
Marian is sent from the only home she’s ever known to marry a stranger—a Scottish noble with a poor reputation. But her fear of the unknown is soon replaced by a completely different terror when her traveling party is viciously attacked by reivers. The Scot who saves her is unlike anyone she’s ever met—his accent is strange, his words stranger, and he’s completely oblivious to etiquette. And yet this man awakens something in her, as does her newfound freedom from her father.
Greyson’s secret opens a whole new world for Marian, and her love makes him a stronger man. But Greyson’s family is at the center of a conspiracy that promises to change Scotland forever, and from the perspective of history, he knows it doesn’t turn out well. Can Greyson and Marian possibly find a happy ending?
If you love sexy bad boy heroes with hearts of gold, heroines with the courage to fight for what they want, and love stories across time, then you’ll love this sweeping romance series.

I very much enjoy Mecca’s Highlander stories but wasn’t expecting to like these time-travel books as much as I have. I really love these McCaim brothers, Grayson most of all. Grayson was not as prepared as Rhys was with his degrees in medieval history and Scottish language but he came with his mother’s clan dominating stern stare and bluff techniques which had worked for him in the boardrooms and negotiating tables of New Orleans on his COO job of his family business. Lucky for him he entered 13th-century Scotland at his uncle’s feet who was quickly convinced and changed him out of his 21st-century business suit and declared, ‘You are with me.’ But soon their group meets Lady Marian’s and Grayson sticks out like a sore thumb: staring plain face at the earl’s daughter! The beginning of watching Grayson ‘acclimating’ while he stubbornly refuses to go along with keeping his mouth shut, or changing his ideas on women’s rights. It was so fun watching “Maid Marian’ and ‘Robin Hood,’ the nickname his brothers gave him because of his proficiency in archery, give each other lessons: he to her on the pleasures between men and women, and her to him the manners and the politics of the century they find themselves. They meet with reivers and Grayson makes good use of the bow and quiver his uncle provided him. Later when he almost loses the contents of his stomach when telling Marian of killing men, she comforts him by saying, ‘You are with me’ as he had comforted her with the same saying when all the men escorting her were killed. The authors make great use of the differences in the English the two use, making for lots of giggles as I read. I got a great lesson myself in Scottish history and look forward to the next book as Grayson, Rhys, their wives, and mother are still in 13-century Scotland.
Imagine being in one place in time and the next minute you are in a totally different place and time. Greyson McCain finds himself at the feet of his “uncle.” The story was interesting. The characters are well-developed. Greyson and Marian are a wonderful couple to read. What a fun way to learn Scottish history.
Another great time traveling story that continues with Greyson in his search for his brother and mother. The unexpected time travel brings Greyson to the past where he meets his uncle and this beautiful girl named Marian. From there, both Greyson and Marian will have to overcome many obstacles to find their destiny. I can not wait for the next books about the other two brothers and their family reunion! Enjoy!
Book 2 Was As Good As Book One!!! Sexy Scot by Cecelia Mecca is book 2 in the Highlander’s Through Time series. Book 1, Sinful Scot, was written by Julie Johnstone. What I am loving about this series is that both Cecelia and Julie have the same writing style and are both amazing writers. Sexy Scot cracked me up each time our hero, Greyson, would use a term from modern time back in medieval time which was often. The reactions from the other characters was just so funny. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you read both books. I am so looking forward to book three. Sexy Scot has a father’s betrayal, an arranged marriage, a search for family, a very serious uncle, being attached, a missing aunt, rescue, secrets, leadership, trust and love at first sight. Oh yes… you must read this book, you will not be disappointed.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
I liked this book a lot, although not as much as I liked the first one in the series (Sinful Scot, which is Rhys’ story). This is Greyson’s story.
I liked how it started with Greyson being shot back in time and ending up at the feet of his uncle still dressed in a suit and tie. Ross was kicking him until Greyson made a stand. Pretty brave for Greyson to stand up to a big Scot like that, especially not knowing much about the culture and still befuddled from his trip through time, but Greyson isn’t one to take things lying down–figuratively and literally.
I liked Grey’s spirit from the very beginning. He was an archer at his mother’s prodding while he was growing up and had no idea just how handy that skill would be until he got into situations with other people in his mother’s time. He didn’t enjoy killing people, but did it to protect his clan and Lady Marian.
Unlike Rhys, Greyson seems to miss the comforts of being in 2020 in New Orleans. His cell phone made the time travel trip with him, something I found interesting, and he was able to show Lady Marian pictures on it and even take one of her. Considering that he’s in Medieval times, I would’ve thought that the people of that time would’ve thought that to be a tool of the devil or be evil in some way. Lady Marian was definitely surprised, but she wasn’t exactly frightened. None of them were. Greyson was using it to prove to them that he was from the future. Got it. I would’ve expected a much different reaction from them, but they weren’t at all surprised by time travel and rather expected it since Shona’s sister, Grace, was dealing with faes. It is what it is and it worked for the story.
Lady Marian is betrothed to an earl who has a bad reputation. Her father insisted on the union and she’s going to see it through for political reasons. She’s never met this guy, but has heard bad things. She’s drawn to Greyson and his openness and his optimism. He’s handsome, smart, and things she’d never dreamed of in having in a man. She found herself in love with him and definitely didn’t want to marry the guy she was supposed to. Grey talked a lot about where he’d come from and told her she’d like it there. She wants to go back with him. She wants to make her own choices and can’t imagine what that’s like, but she sure wants to find out
I felt these two falling in love, which gives this book an edge that some other books miss. I like steamier love scenes, like Rated R scenes in movies. There were just a couple toward the end of this and they were probably PG. It’s all good, though. They played into the story okay.
I have to admit that I’m getting a little impatient now, though. So far Rhys and Greyson have gone back in time. Their objective is to find their mother, Shona, who has been missing for five years and their father insists that she was sent back to her own time or went back to her own time. Meanwhile, their dad is in a coma and the doctors think that if Shona were to speak with him, he might come out of it. If these guys are so determined to save their father by finding their mother, why all the dilly-dallying around?
I also think that the reunions with their mother were lackluster. I wish there was more emotion to them. She hasn’t seen her sons in five years and they haven’t seen her. Their father lies dying in a hospital in New Orleans in 2020, they know their mother could be the ticket to saving him, yet nobody has tried to get her to go back. I don’t think anybody has bothered to tell her yet. Rhys has been back in time for how long? And Greyson has been there for a few months. Time isn’t stopping in New Orleans. Reikert and Ian (Rhys’ and Greyson’s brothers) are still there. Both Rhys and Greyson disappeared right in front of them. I don’t know if the time continuum is the same when time travel takes place, but I can’t help but wonder why they aren’t moving forward with trying to save their dad. But I’m sure these questions will be answered as the series progresses.
I’m enjoying this series very much. I love books that make me question the answers or ponder the impossible.
*I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.
I love the continuation of this series from Cecelia and Julie. Cecelia has written a character who makes you laugh or giggle at times trying to not stand out and who wants to be 21st century but knows it will make him stand out “like a sore thumb”. Love the character of Marion who over time comes to understand her man and able to even joke. Together these characters compliment each other and brought me joy. I highly recommend this book. I received an advanced reader copy from the author. All opinions are my own
An exciting story, with exhilarating robust red-blooded powerful Scottish warriors. This is a continuation of the time travel series; Book 1 – “Sinful Scot”. This time it is Greyson’s turn. He was able to replicate the incantation that propelled him back in time to seek his mother and brother Rhys (who was featured in Book 1). Greyson, try as he might, could not convincingly replicate the Scottish brogue which his uncle Ross found interesting. Greyson’s mind pretty much stayed in his 21st century mode. His uncle Ross cautioned him to listen more than talk. Greyson knew his speech was not only different but the way he spoke was too. Fortunately for Ross, Greyson had excelled at the bow and arrow and was able to help stop reivers from attacking a group of English soldiers guarding Lady Marian. She was being escorted to the home of her betrothed whom she had heard nothing good. Ross and his men killed the reivers but unfortunately all the English soldiers were killed. Lady Marian found solace in Greyson’s arms and decided to join Ross on their journey. Ross knew Greyson was from the future but when Marian was told, she did not quite believe. It took a while for her to become convinced. In the meantime, the attraction between Greyson and Marian did not abate. It was interesting how the knowledge of the future was helpful to Ross. They finally found the traitor who wanted to kill Ross’ sister who was Greyson’s mother. He was exposed and dealt with. But that did not mean his mother was safe. Ross, his men, Greyson and Marian journeyed to his mother’s home. But on the way Ross felt it was best for all involved that Marian be returned to her betrothed. Greyson put his foot down and absolutely refused to let her go. Marian felt she had no choice but to return and convinced Ross to take her away without Greyson’s knowledge. During Ross and Marian’s travel, Marian started to question why her father wanted and made this alliance. After talking it out with Ross they realized something more nefarious was at work. Ross would not return Marian to her betrothed but would take her dowry and possessions to appease the betrothed from starting any trouble with his clan. They had to inform The Bruce what they believed was happening. So much incentive to do what was right. So much inspiration and faith to do what needed to be done. Although at times Greyson was frustrated that he did not understand everything about Medieval Scotland, with Ross and Marian’s help he managed along. Marian was enticed to follow Ross because of her growing feelings for Greyson. What will happen between Greyson and Marian? Could he talk her into going with him into the future so she would have her freedom of choice? Would Ross and Greyson make it to their home and find his mother and brother waiting? What will The Bruce do when he learns about what is going on and who was responsible for the killing of the Scottish King? This is a must read. You will not be disappointed. I eagerly await the next series installment “Seductive Scot” which is about Riekart, Rhys and Greyson’s younger brother. I can’t wait.
Grayson is determined to work out how his brother, Rhys, disappeared. One moment they were all together, holding that cross and the next Rhys was gone. He could only conclude it was true that his mother and now Rhys had gone to the past.
Grayson is a well-defined character that you can feel sorry for and want to shake some sense into. He is thankful his mom made him learn to use a bow, but he wasn’t as good on a horse as his brother and he is found by his mother’s brother, Ross.
Marion is betrothed to a Scotsman, Earl of Fife, and she is not to excited to be marrying him. She has heard he was not kind. Her party is attacked after leaving her home and all the men in her escort is killed in the fight. Ross, Grayson’s uncle, and his party ride to rescue her and take her the rest of the way to her Scotsman.
An exciting read that I could not put down. I read it all the way through before I could go to bed…
I really enjoyed this story. I think I am in love with the McCaim boys. This story was about Greyson and his journey in the past. I loved how he quickly recognized the connection with Marian and how the “fates” were putting him where he needed to be. Marian was so naive about her own world until the violence came into it. She had the strength to see beyond the physical and accept her choices. These two made a wonderful couple, and I look forward to the next in this series to see how everything plays out in the end. I recommend this story.
I received an ARC of this story, and this is my unsolicited review.
This story belongs to Greyson and Marian. When their older borther Rhys disappears in front of their eyes the McCaim brothers are determined to find him and their mother. Totally unprepared for Highland life and what is to come, Greyson is fortunate enough to have landed at his uncles feet.
Marian is on her way to marry someone she does not love. But she is attacked by reivers. The Scot who saves her is unlike any man she has ever met. Everything about him is intriguing. Marian’s love for Greyson make him a stronger man and he would do anything for her. I love love this series. I can not wait for the next brother’s story. Thank you Julia and Cecelia for a phenomenal story and series in the making!
Sexy Scot was my first venture into time travel romance. I am so glad I took the chance to read this book. During these stressful times, it was such a pleasure to read. Ms Mecca did a wonderful job with the story and describing the various scenes. I felt as if I was right there with the characters. While this is the second book in a series, it can certainly be read as a stand alone. Greyson and Marian’s story was well written and I recommend it to anyone that wants to be swept away for a few hours from reality. Well done!!
Greyson McCaim and his brothers have found out that their father has not been crazy for the last few years. Since his wife disappeared he has talked about time-travel all the time. Now since his older brother vanished before their eyes, they are starting to believe.
When Greyson finds out it really does work. He needs to find his mother and brother and get back.
Marian is being sent to marry a man with a terrible reputation because her father wants to make an alliance. Her journey is not going to be straightforward. With our hero out of his comfort zone and our heroine enjoying her first adventure there is so much to discover in this story.
A very exciting medieval romance with great characters. This series really should be read in order, but you could enjoy it on it’s own. Time travel is always fun.
I loved it.
Amazing time travel with mind blowing scenes and events that could change history. Romance and adventure packed thriller that might have referred to Robin Hood and Maid Merion!
Pack your bags and let’s go on a whirlwind trip to 13th century Scotland with Greyson McCaim! This book was so much fun! I LOVED it and can’t wait for the next one. Greyson is desperate to find his mother and brother who have apparently time traveled to medieval Scotland. There are three brothers left to try and figure out how to make the spell work when, Greyson disappears just as Rhys had done before. Greyson shows up literally at his uncle Ross’s feet in an inn in medieval Scotland. This story has time traveled, attempts at kidnapping, murder, treachery, families brought together and, of course, love. Greyson meets Marion while her party is attacked on the road. An attraction between our hero and heroine is almost immediate. Although departed by a few hundred years, they are perfect for each other. Full of danger and humor, this will appeal to all historical romance lovers. I am in awe of the collaborative efforts of these two wonderful authors. The writing of the two books in this series is mind blowing! I highly recommend this book!! You won’t be disappointed with it! I was gifted this book and am voluntarily reviewing.
SEXY SCOT by Cecelia Mecca and Julie Johnstone is book Two in the Highlanders Through Time Series. This is the story of Marian and Greyson. I have read the previous books, so this did of course add to my enjoyment of this one. But, I did feel this could be a standalone book if you wish to do so. Greyson’s father who they thought was talking out of his head about their mother being taken back in time, so learns the truth. Because his brother disappeared right before his eyes when he said a chant while looking for clues about their mother. So Greyson goes forward to now find his brother which he too ends up back in time. Luckily he lands near his Uncle place and after some time able to convince him of who he is. There Greyson meets Marian who group was attacked and he helped to save her. Marian was traveling because she was being forced to marry to seal a deal that has been forged. Now she is traveling with them where their attractions becomes so much more than either can handle. So loved this book and the writing by these two authors!
Such a great book! The characters had great chemistry and were very entertaining. The storyline was unique and very well written. I was so enthralled, I couldn’t put the book down. I have read a lot of books from this author, have loved them all, and this book is no exception. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
Sexy Scot, written by Cecelia Mecca, is a wonderful second book addition to a new series alternately offered by her and author Julie Johnston. I can say I’ve already fallen in love with the McCaim brothers and how they handle their experiences when landing back in medieval Scotland. The first offering, Sinful Scot by Julie Johnstone, was a great lead-in to this series. It is a standalone work as well as this second one, Sexy Scot, though I am glad I had the benefit of reading the first one, about older brother Rhys, before this one, which is about Greyson. Both Ms. Johnston in the first work and Ms. Mecca in this second one have crafted adventurous, sexily romantic stories woven throughout with a lot of historical facts, great dialogue, usually at least one or two vile characters, and awesome heroes and heroines. You’ll fall in love with Greyson and Marian as I did. You’ll swoon at the sweet, sweet loving between them. I wasn’t ready for their Robin and Lady Marian tale to end. I wanted more. I’ll just have to wait until the next in series is out. Bravo Ms. Mecca.
I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this work, which has in no way affected my honest and voluntary review of what I read.
Yowza! It was hard to get past that cover and start the book! I knew I was in for an adventure to say the least.. Cecelia Mecca, time travel and a Sexy Scot? Granted he was from this century but the bloodline lives!
This was Greyson’s story after his brother Rhys had already disappeared and the stories his father ranted about his mother had traveled back in time, unwillingly at that. Well he found out the chant actually worked when he wound up in medieval Scotland and of all things he found an uncle he knew nothing about! (Yes I want those words of the chant!)
Now he can finally find his mother and his brother and get them back home. But fate has a lot in store for this handsome brother when they run into a a party being attacked and killed by reivers and he rescues Marian. Marian was on her way to marry a vile man her father was sending her to but when she meets Greyson, oh yes, she is entranced!
What a journey and such a fabulous story as Cecelia Mecca shows her amazing ability to blend in history with someone from the modern world and make it work! She and Julie Johnstone have dreamed up an award winning series that leaves you wanting more! Cannot wait for the next!!
I am really enjoying reading the Highlander’s Through Time series. Julie Johnstone & Cecelia Mecca are among my favorite authors so I am always glad to see a new release from them. Greyson is so funny as he deals with trying to blend in when he is out of his time period. In the first novel, Rhys had education in the time period so that helped but Greyson had to figure it out and his slip ups were great. Marian had great growth as she learned some new ways to look at things as she learned about the future. Great series!
Greyson, an archer and billionaire goes back in time to find his brother and mother. What he does not expect is to fall at the feet of Uncle Ross. As they make their way to his mother they save Lady Marian from reivers while on her way to her betrothed. What happens next is a dangerous adventure and unexpected feelings between Grey and Marian. You will enjoy their journey as they make a decision between love or loyalty, maybe they can have both. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
