A modern man, a medieval woman. Fate brought them together, but will history tear them apart? When his older brother disappears before his eyes, Greyson McCaim is determined to find him—even if he has to travel back in time. Because it turns out their “crazy” father was right: their mother didn’t leave them willingly. She’s a time traveler, and someone pulled her back to her original home in … to her original home in medieval Scotland. Now Rhys is there too while the other McCaim brothers are stuck in modern-day New Orleans. They keep reciting the chant that sent Rhys back, and it finally works—but only for Greyson. Miserably unprepared for medieval life, he is saved by fate’s choice to dump him at the feet of the uncle he never knew he had. The two set off to learn what happened to Greyson’s mother and brother, but their mission is derailed when they encounter an earl’s daughter in need of help.
Marian is sent from the only home she’s ever known to marry a stranger—a Scottish noble with a poor reputation. But her fear of the unknown is soon replaced by a completely different terror when her traveling party is viciously attacked by reivers. The Scot who saves her is unlike anyone she’s ever met—his accent is strange, his words stranger, and he’s completely oblivious to etiquette. And yet this man awakens something in her, as does her newfound freedom from her father.
Greyson’s secret opens a whole new world for Marian, and her love makes him a stronger man. But Greyson’s family is at the center of a conspiracy that promises to change Scotland forever, and from the perspective of history, he knows it doesn’t turn out well. Can Greyson and Marian possibly find a happy ending?
If you love sexy bad boy heroes with hearts of gold, heroines with the courage to fight for what they want, and love stories across time, then you’ll love this sweeping romance series.

A thoroughly entertaining book that is well developed with vividly written descriptions, dimensional characters, adventure, action, drama and romance.
We start out in modern times, with 3 brothers trying to find out if their older brother Rhys, and their mother actually time traveled to ancient Scotland. As they try to figure out the chant and the wording, Greyson suddenly chants it exactly as his brother Rhys did and poof – he’s gone. Which leaves the other 2 brothers scampering to find out what happened. Then our story stays in Scotland.
This is a fun time travel book, and I didn’t read the first one in the series, but this stands well on its own and catches you up easily. Fate would have it that he would land right in the path of his Uncle Ross. And when his uncle agrees to help him find his brother and his mother who disappeared 5 years ago, they happen upon a group attacked by reivers – or ancient time bandits. And Grey meets Marian…
I won’t give any clues, but the characters are well developed and it’s funny to hear Grey try to talk in an old brogue way, and fail miserably. What I really like about this, is that the writing team is so cohesive, I have no idea where one ended and the other begins. There is drama, some action, romance and a nicely developed plot and world. I’m planning on going back and reading the first book to learn the story of Rhys.
When Cecelia Mecca and Julie Johnstone get together to write a series, they mean business! This is the second book in the Highlanders Through Time series and I’m completely hooked.
Four brothers from modern day New Orleans are trying to go back in time to find their mother who vanished years earlier and although they didn’t believe their father when he said she had gone back in time, now they have the proof that he is not mad! Rhys, the oldest brother, has managed to go back to medieval Scotland and now Greyson, the second oldest, finds himself there as well.
It’s quite the adventure he finds himself on, especially when he comes upon Lady Marian. It’s instant attraction and he does everything in his power to keep her with him. Telling her that in his time, women are allowed to do what they want and choose who they marry, Marian really wants to experience that but there is no guarantee that they can even go back!
Cecelia Mecca has done a wonderful job writing Greyson and Marian’s story, very well written with an ending that will have you begging for the next book!!
The “Sexy Scot” written by Cecelia Mecca is part of the “Highlander’s Through Time” Series by Cecelia Mecca and Julie Johnstone. Julie wowed me with book one, the Sinful Scot and I knew from that moment on that I would have to read everything she writes.
I have read and loved all of Cecelia’s books and they get better every time. She has a wonderful way of invoking the past for the reader as she magically weaves a story rich in well researched historical detail. I loved this story, I love the whole series concept!
You’re in for a rollicking good time, held spellbound and riveted to your seat, you won’t be able to turn the pages fast enough. The story is filled with action packed adventure, espionage, suspense, mystery and family loyalty.
At the heart of the story are two souls, Greyson and Marion, fated by time to meet and fall in love. The chemistry is hot, the Scot is most assuredly sexy, swoon worthy (sigh), strong, kind and just the kind of hero any woman would want to meet. Marion our heroine is a sheltered young woman who who finds her independence and in her ability to make her own choices for the first time in her life.
The plot is exceptional and the writing impeccable. The characters are exciting, interesting and three-dimensional. The dialogue is brilliant and the humor has you laughing out loud. But best of all, this is a sweet and passionate romance destined by time!
This is the perfect read to escape the troubles of the day! I’m hoping to hear that Shona has her own story coming too, please. Thank you so much Cecelia for such an exciting and adventurous love story.
Greyson has just watched his brother disappear before his very eyes! The brothers had believed that their mother could possibly have been taken back into the past, but when one of them disappeared, it became all the more real to them. Greyson and his brothers are determined to go back in time to fetch their mother and brother back safely. The repeatedly say the chant, but nothing happens…until one day it does and only Greyson travel back in time. Lucky for him, he lands at the feet of his uncle. Greyson and his uncle set off in search of his mother. Along the way, they tun into a party being attacked. The only survivor is Marian.
Marian is being taken to her betrothed. She has never met the man and he has a bad reputation, so needless to say, she is not too happy to be on her journey. When her party is attacked by reivers, she is rescued by Greyson. He is different from anyone she has ever met and not only because of his speech and mannerisms. The more time they spend together, the more reluctant she is to be taken to her betrothed. Can their attraction for one another lead to anything but heartache?
I really enjoyed this latest addition to the Highlanders Through Time series. I always like time travel because it is interesting to see how the person that is out of time, adapts to their new environment. While Greyson didn’t have many skills for survival in the past, his skill of archery did come in handy during some skirmishes. I liked watching these two fall for one another. The chemistry between them was read hot!! I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the series!!
Book 2 in the series did not disappoint! The author continues to deliver an exciting and suspenseful travel romance story. The story is well-written and very complex with wonderful characters. There is also a nice blend of humor. It’s an exciting and suspenseful romance story that will keep you engrossed right up until the last page. I look forward to the next installment.
The McCaim boys all thought their mother had run off and their father was so grief stricken he was going crazy talking a time travel and finding her. Greyson McCaim is determined to find Rhys his older brother and his mother who have disappeared and travel back in time. Fate drops him right in front of an Uncle Ross MacKinnish, he never knew he had an Uncle. His uncle is on a mission for the Guardians of Scotland and they travel together to find both Rhys and his mother. English Lady Marian is sent from home to marry a stranger, a Scottish noble with a poor reputation. Grey and Marian go on a grand adventure filled with betrayal, strained loyalty’s and passionate romance as these two fight for the right to love one another, a love that will not be denied to find their HEA!!! An excellent story I loved and I voluntarily wrote a review
Book 2 starts back in Louisiana. Rhys has just disappeared and the three brothers are left to try to figure out how he managed to disappear. Greyson is quite determined to accept every possibility but one: time travel. It’s unthinkable. When he realizes it real, he and his brother’s once again try the chant while holding the cross. Greyson appears back in time at the foot of his Uncle’s feet. His Uncle helps him and believes him, hard not to since how he appeared. On the way back to his mother’s family home, he meets Marion (an English Lass, whose family is friends with King Edward). She is on the way to get married, but has no love for her soon to be husband. The party is attacked and Marion ends up with Rhys and his Uncle. They agree to take her where she needs to go. Along the way, they all come to realize Edward and her father are trying to weasel their way into an alliance in hopes to take control over Scotland. Greyson knowing history convinces Marion not to marry and give Edward a foot into Scotland. While that is great, if she breaks the betrothal the clan she betrays will become angry at both her and Grey. Both clans are aligned with the Bruce…Trouble will come calling..
The writing of both Cecelia Mecca and Julie Johnstone are exceptional. I would like to know more about the mother which left me with questions. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for a more personal opinion. I am not a fan of the cursing. I don’t like it. I think men can be Alphas and heroes without all the F words…I think that is why I have always enjoyed historical books rather than contemporary. If you don’t have a problem with language…this book will be a 5 star book no problem. Again that is my opinion…the story is fabulous!
Two amazing authors of historical romance have teamed up in this exciting, creative and romantic series of four books that follow each of four brothers from present-day New Orleans to medieval Scotland in search of their mother. They thought that their mother abandoned them five years earlier but their father’s conviction that she was sent to the future by a spell from her sister in 1286 finally sinks in for them. Now they must try to navigate the dangerous and difficult journey to find her, and their fortunes and skills as businessmen are of little help 700 years in the past. Fortunately, their mother insisted that they learn to ride horses, fight and learn some languages and history. And the history in 1286 is very tumultuous and brutal. The King of Scotland has been killed and a power vacuum is causing clans to take sides. Who can they trust? The brothers know what is supposed to happen in history and it isn’t pretty, but should they intervene? In Sexy Scot, brother Greyson runs into a damsel in distress whose guards have been attacked and killed by thieves. She is on her way to marry a loathsome earl in Scotland and Greyson fills her head with thoughts of freedom and equality for women in the future. The book is sexy, fun, suspenseful and so romantic.
