Not gonna lie to you. When he walked into my restaurant, I thought he was the hottest man I’d ever seen in person. And then he spoke. And I realized who he was.The world now knows him as John Brandt—ridiculously wealthy handsome genius workaholic startup founder and tech entrepreneur. I will always think of him as the annoying geek who’s my older brother’s best friend. He yanked my pigtails and … friend. He yanked my pigtails and called me Tiny Dancer. I put rubber snakes in his sleeping bag and called him Johnny B. Nerdballs.
Market research has told him that he needs a girlfriend for an important business trip and gala event. He says he doesn’t want to bring someone that he has to impress or make an effort with, so he thought of me and figures I could use a nice vacation from my life right about now.
He is one cocky nerd. Even if he’s right.
I need the money and he can actually help me with my career, but I think he needs to be schooled in the art of treating a lady right. Lucky for him, I am just the woman to finally teach him…Turns out his total lack of social skills does not correspond to a lack of skills in the bedroom. At all. He even teaches me a few new tricks.
Every time he opens his obnoxious mouth I can’t believe this guy’s for real. Every time he touches me, every time he reminds me of who I was before I started to lose myself in the big city, I can’t believe that what we have right now is fake.
I’m afraid that by the end of the month either I will have punched him in the face, or the last man on earth I ever thought I’d fall in love with will have broken my heart. Or both.

Hey there Quirkies!
Just finished Sexy Nerd and I LOVED it – so fun. When they banter I just wanted it to go on for pages. Anyone who loves the puppy argument between Connor & Hailey will LOVE John & Olivia.
For my no heat ladies, fair warning – there’s some steam in this sucker! *fans self*
With every new story I come across from Kayley Loring, I fall more and more in love with her writing.
She writes such strong, interesting characters. A sexy nerd and a ballerina are not a combination I would have thought of working previously but boy did she make it work.
I loved their interactions and the family dynamics. I loved the build up of the relationship. I just loved this story.
And the narration was pretty good too. MacKenzie Cartwright I’ve heard a few times before and I like her. But Benjamin D. Walker was new to me however and he had some good tones too. Both main characters and secondary.
I would absolutely recommend this one and can’t wait to listen to more from this author.
John is such an adorably quirky nerd. Olivia is a sassy, loyal, and strong willed Tiny Dancer. The two of them are so cute together. A delightfully funny romantic comedy. I laughed out loud, swoon some, and spent most of the book with a goofy smile on my face. This is my third book by the Author and I’m really enjoying them, love her writing style Mackenzie and Benjamin did a good job portraying their relationship, only thing Benjamin female voice needs some work. I highly recommend this one
This is the first book I have read by Kayley Loring and it won’t be my last. This was a Cute, Sweet, unique, and charming story. I liked it.
This friends to lovers romance was so sweet, funny, and steamy! John and Olivia have known each other since they were kids with John being Olivia’s brothers best friend. Olivia thought they were both such nerds, never seeing John as anything more. But John has been intrigued by her ever since he saw her dancing on stage. Now years later, he has become a successful businessman and when he needs a girlfriend to help him close a business deal, Olivia is his only choice. Olivia is working hard as a company ballerina, looking for her big break. When John makes a sudden appearance, looking sexier than she ever imagined, and makes her an offer to help her career, she jumps at the opportunity. I loved how both John and Olivia found their way to each other as adults. John was a workaholic but was so sweet, awkward, and loving as he tried to take care of Olivia. Olivia is fun and sassy but wanted her independence. They both were complete opposites in many ways but were so perfect together.
Mackenzie Cartwright, and Benjamin D. Walker did a great job narrating this delightful romcom and bringing it to life. Their comedic timing and inflections were spot on as they they delivered Lorings hilarious banter flawlessly. Cartwright portrayed the emotional, and independent Olivia perfectly while Walker made John totally swoon worthy as he tried to win Olivia’s heart. They really made this hilarious, heartfelt, and sweet & steamy romance even better!
Kaling Loring is fast becoming one of my favorite authors because she is so freakin’ funny. Johnny B. Nerdballs is so out there, and the dialogue between him and Olivia is so off the wall, ya just gotta smile and shake your head in bewilderment.
Johnny B Nerdballs is a cross between Sheldon Cooper and Dr. Ruth. He doesn’t do emotion so he says. But the truth is, he just does it differently. He decided a long time ago that he was going to marry Olivia and he set about doing it in a way that made sense to him. He tries to engineer a love connection with her and it’s hella awkward. The two of them don’t think alike at all. Olivia is an artist—a ballerina—who is enveloped in the emotionally charged, sensual world of dance. So the way that Johnny compartmentalizes the different parts of his life is upsetting to her. Watching these two learn to navigate within each other’s worlds is a thing of beauty. And the way they did it isn’t the way that I expected them to, so that was a surprise ending. What seemed like an impossible pairing turned out to be something special.
Don’t DNF this book just because the nerd-speak in the beginning is a little verbose. It gets better and there’s a really good payoff. This turned out to be a book that I couldn’t put down. It’s confounding and whimsical and so much fun, and a really sweet love story. It’s impossible not to enjoy this one.
John and Olivia have known each other forever. John aka Johnny B Nerdballs is Olivia’s brothers best friend. John has been in love with Olivia for years. He is now a very famous and successful tech developer and venture capitalist. Olivia is a ballet dancer in the SF Bay Area. John has a plan to make Olivia fall in love with him. It involve’s the old fake girlfriend trope, world travel, and helping her with her career. Both characters are fun, the pace of the book is good, overall a fun read.
Which knew nerds could be this sexy with their difficult words.
This was an enjoyable, light read.
Olivia and her brother’s best friend , John meet again after years. John asks her to pretend to be his girlfriend but is John pretending too? And what about Olivia?
There isn’t much to say about this story…
Olivia and John are fun characters, I loved the the little flashbacks, their banter and how Olivia sets John straight.
The sex scènes were definitely sexy, definitely no nerdy sex.
Sometimes there was a little too much information about sidecharacters but overall this was a good, funny, relaxing story that’s light on drama.
