It was wrong to stay together … but we couldn’t stay apart.I’ve been with my share of women, but none touched my heart and fired my senses the way she did. Her smile enticed me. Her caresses teased me. Her body aroused me.And yet, it couldn’t last. There were too many years between us. A gap we couldn’t breach, and we broke it off. No. I broke it off. And I’ve regretted that decision ever since. regretted that decision ever since.
Now she’s in danger, and there’s no one else I trust to protect her. But the more time we spend together, the more I want her back. And all I know now is I have to keep her safe—and despite both of us knowing better, somehow, someway, she will be mine again.

Psssttt…I have a confession. I am a BIG J. Kenner fan. I fell in love with her, thanks to her Stark series, and I am slowly moving through her Stark Universe of books. When I saw the chance to read and review for her newest book, Sexy Little Sinner, I jumped at the chance.
Sexy Little Sinner is the third book in the Blackwell-Lyon series. You do not need to have read the first two, although context is always nice when reading a series. This story follows Kerrie and Connor. Kerrie is the younger sister of Connor’s partner at Blackwell-Lyons, a high-tech security/investigative company. The issue with Kerrie and Connor is age. Connor is fourteen/fifteen years older than Kerrie, and he does not want to hold her back in life. The story begins months after their break-up when Connor decided that his age would cause Kerrie to give up aspects of her life later down the road. As she privileged their friendship, she agreed to the break-up even though she did not agree with his reasons for it. Unfortunately, their chemistry and connection are not abating, and the two struggle to maintain their professionalism and friendship. Eventually, Kerrie makes the decision to forgo a friendship which is quickly undermined when Kerrie and Connor must go undercover to catch a notorious billionaire accused of criminal wrongdoings. This undercover assignment involves a weekend-long $ex party. Will Kerrie and Connor survive the weekend, or will it destroy any type of relationship between the two?
This is what I love most about this story. It is uncomplicated. It reads more novella than novel, and the angst is minimal. J. Kenner has this way of getting in and out of a story with your heart intact. You feel for the characters of the story, but you don’t find yourself brow-beaten by every horrible thing that can go wrong with them. This is the case with Connor and Kerrie’s story. Now, that being said, I did want to reach through my iPad and smack Connor upside the head. It took him most of the story to move beyond his worries about age. Even more, his reasons were absurd in the grand scheme of a life worth living. Thankfully, he has an epiphany at just the right time.
If you like a short and sweet, well-written story, with characters you can love, then you really ought to read Sexy Little Sinner (and the prior two). It’s a nice afternoon read that adds a little sizzle to your day.
Overall: 5 Stars
I adored this book! Connor and Kerrie had me captivated, smiling and loving every moment. This title says it all… sexy indeed! Connor doesn’t want to want Kerrie. He wants her to experience life and not be stuck with him, taking care of him later in life. He thinks he’s doing something good for her, even if he is jealous and wants her more than anything. The chemistry between them is palpable. It felt realistic and it was intense! They couldn’t help the draw they had. I was completely invested in their story and the outcome it would have. They made a dynamic duo both personally and professionally. I liked the easiness between them. This was a fast read for me because I couldn’t put it down! If you like a sexy, fun read then be sure to grab this one!
The small glimpses that J. Kenner has shown readers when it comes to the attraction and feelings that exist between Connor and Kerrie throughout the first two books of her Blackwell-Lyon series had me anxiously anticipating if and how these two would figure out how to be together again, despite the age difference, despite the fact that she’s the little sis of his best friend, and despite Connor’s feelings that he’s not the guy for her.
Kerrie’s in a rather tenuous situation – intellectually she understands Connor’s reasons for ending their relationship, but emotionally, she struggles to not feel heartbroken and angry due to the wall that Connor keeps between them because even though they no longer share a romantic connection, they’re still constantly around each other, making it almost impossible for Kerrie not to yearn for something that Connor is just not willing or able to give.
The sexual tension and angst is amped up in Sexy Little Sinner, partly due to what some would see as the ‘forbidden love’ aspect of Connor and Kerrie’s relationship but more so due to Connor’s warped view of his feelings for Kerrie and the misguided notions that there are too many reasons as to why they shouldn’t ever be romantically involved again. And even though on some level, I understand Connor’s perspective on things, he frustrated me to no end when he kept going back and forth with his need to keep Kerrie at an arm’s length and his need to pull her close to him and never let her go.
The added suspense and action in Sexy Little Sinner actually helps Connor make a decision when it comes to Kerrie, and it also proves just how good Blackwell-Lyon Security is at their job, and with the new addition to the team, which means an added story to the series, it will be interesting to see the dynamics created between the new guy and Pierce, Cayden, and Connor as well as the women they love.
4 Poison Apples
Packed with excitement, Sexy Little Sinner has it all. Kerrie and Connor face drama, action and sexy time that flow all over the pages.
The writing was descriptive and at one point I felt like reaching into the book to high-five Kerrie. It made this a quick, lovable read.
Final Score – 4 Stars
I am a great fan of age-gap romances and if written well, well then – then it’s a no brainier. However this one feels a bit short of epic greatness for me, especially with Conner’s on going attitude about the hows/whys of “his” feelings. I felt like it overshadowed everything and I just couldn’t get on board with him and Kerrie ending up together.
Now, don’t get me wrong – this couple has amazing chemistry as they are The Couple. They simply DO belong together. It’s just that, overall, Conner and his damn feelings/attitude ruin that and just put me off ever wanting them to have that HEA that everyone else in this series has had thus far. He’s know it all, I’m making the right choice for us attitude – grated on my last nerve! Even his own brother couldn’t sit by and let him make such an idiotic decision.
I love J. Kenner and her writing but this one was just bleh/alright for me. I felt no connection to either character – emotional or otherwise. Let’s hope that I feel that spark come back to life with her next book in the series.
Sexy Litte Sinner is a quick fun read but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t pack a mighty punch because this book will captivate you and I’m sure like me you won’t want to put it down. Fast paced and filled with characters you will fall in love with so what else can I say about this brilliant read well……
Age is just a number well that’s what I believe and that’s what Kerrie believes but to Connor it’s a whole different ballgame he sees it as him being 15 years older means he can’t give Kerrie the life she deserves and add in she is his best friend little sister and she works with him means she should definitely be off limits to him ………. but when circumstances throws them together life is about to get a whole lot more interesting.
I loved the story, I loved the characters and I loved all the feels I got from this book. Great read and I’m looking forward to where Ms Kenner takes us next.
The boys of Blackwell-Lyon are back at it. A quick read from Connor’s POV with the introduction of a new character, Leo, who will be the fourth book’s hero. May-December romance meets second chance romance with a twist of suspense. Previous books in the series hinted at Kerrie and Connor’s previous relationship, but now we get story starting with the catalyst that rekindles their love affair. It’s a bumpy road, but it makes the outcome all that much sweeter. My only issue is a thought Pierce (being Kerri’s brother and all) would have had a slightly bigger roll in this story. When you read this, you’ll understand what I mean.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review, and I can honestly say I really enjoyed it. It was a fun, easy read with the right amount of suspense, intrigue and passion.
The story is told from Connor’s perspective, a man who is totally struggling to keep away from his ex girlfriend. After a drunken moment of passion, avoiding Kerrie Blackwell becomes even more difficult. Kerrie ignites sparks within him, sparks that Connor very much doesn’t believe should be explored anymore.
You learn of Connor’s past and how he views the fifteen year age gap between Kerrie and himself. He worries about how his health will affect her life, and therefore battles with the idea of sacrificing their happiness in order for her to find a more youthful version of love. But if anyone cares about her, it’s him.
The story has the mystery and suspense of an undercover mission, the passion of forbidden love but also the sweetness of someone willing to do everything for the person they love. The plot is predictable in places, but it does not take anything away from the overall enjoyment of the plot.
It was a quick and easy read that kept my attention and was the perfect February weekend read.
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.J Kenner is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
This is another great book from an author that has already brought so many others. Sexy Little Sinner is another novella in the Blackwell-Lyon series and we finally Connor gets his turn. These characters were amazing and kudos to Kerrie for being so strong during Connor’s duh moments. They say that love makes the heart grow fonder but will they realize it before it’s to late? Especially now that they are in danger?
