Second chances burn hotterThe assignment should be a fashion stylist’s dream. Dane Scotland—brilliant programmer, millionaire, partner in my brother’s company—is going to a big-money meeting, and he needs to look the part. The problem? Dane doesn’t want a makeover. He’s grumpy and reclusive, and his wardrobe consists of two pairs of old jeans. He doesn’t want me anywhere near him.Did I mention … anywhere near him.
Did I mention that he’s my brother’s best friend? And that no one knows exactly what Dane and I got up to ten years ago?
The nerd I knew is gone—Dane ditched his glasses and bulked up. Now he’s six-foot-plus of hot genius, but I can be professional. I can definitely keep my hands off him. Again.
But when he looks at me like he used to, like no one else ever has, the only thing I want is to lose control.
Dane and I gave each other our first taste of heartbreak. Are we destined for another round?

Oh my word, Ava and Dane are just so perfect!
This is Julie Kriss at her full-of-feels, heart wrenching, smexy times best. I adore second chance romances and this was so perfectly done, avoiding all the usual cliches of the trope and instead giving us a story that packed a punch from the very start all the way to the end. There were no silly misunderstandings, no lies or secrets (at least not from each other) and no-one person in the wrong. My heart ached for Ava, so thank goodness she had such a sexy nerd of a man, in Dane, to love her.
I can’t believe how quickly and easily I read this. Once I’d read the first few lines I was hooked and didn’t put it down until I’d finished it. The time just flew, nothing could distract me from the amazing writing or fantastic characters and I felt every moment of the story. I can’t express how fantastic a read this book is, but I haven’t had a story hold my attention so thoroughly and completely in quite a while.
This really is a MUST READ book, not only for Julie Kriss fans but for anyone who enjoys a steamy, emotion filled, well written contemporary romance.
Sexy as Sin by Julie Kriss – Ava and Dane have a long, complex history. Aiden sends his sister to Chicago to give Dane a makeover before a big meeting with a Japanese mogul, and that’s where the past and the present collide. This is the sweetest couple! Happy Reading!
Audio Review
This is book 2 in the Filthy Rich Series and wowza this author has done a fantastic job. These are stand alone books but have the same characters interacting. This one is about Dane, a partner and Ava the little sister of Aiden from book 1.
Dane is the super smart nerd in the company and group of best friends and his social graces need a little polish. Aiden hires his little sister, Ava to clean Dane up for a very important meeting with a potential client. What Aiden doesn’t know is Dane and Ava have a history and putting them together for a week is going to get complicated.
This story is so well written. There is so much chemistry between these two characters but there is also love and history and understanding of where they both came from. They have the familiar even though they haven’t seen each other for years. I fell right into their story and loved every bit of it.
Jason Clarke and Ava Erickson are so good at what they do you just enjoy it from beginning to end. They voices are both so enjoyable to listen to as well as their timing and grasp on the characters. Great job.
I loved this book and I highly recommend it and can’t wait for the next one.
“It wasn’t until later, after all of the bad things had happened, that I realized that all that winter, I was happy for the first time in my life.”
When Ava’s brother warns that he needs to talk to her, the last thing she imagined was that he would ask her to make a total makeover in one of his friends and partners. Obviously she is the right woman for the job, after all she loves fashion. But being face to face with Dane, with whom she shares a painful past and a broken heart, was not in her plans. But the money she will receive for this work is too tempting for her to deny.
Dane would rather work behind the scenes developing his software than appear at business meetings. But when a major new deal needs his presence, he knows it’s a matter of a short time before his partners try to get him dressed and behave in a more professional, or even civilized manner. But this lonely, anti-social nerd won’t be so easily convinced.
But when a ghost from the past appears at his door, he knows that more than a new look, he will gain a second chance. If only he can convince Ava to open up and talk to him.
A secret relationship. Unexpected news. A tragedy. And two torn hearts. Years between them. And the possibility of a fresh start.
While Dane is successful and millionaire, Ava could not find her calling. Her work as a fashion blogger has an expiration date and she doesn’t know what direction to take with her life. Neither of them managed to settle into a new relationship, for as much as they deny, they still love each other. Ava is cheerful, vibrant and unfiltered. Dane is reserved, workaholic and has social phobia. Two completely opposite people, but they complement each other brilliantly.
I loved the reading, I loved the protagonists, the story is engaging, funny, with a hint of drama and lots of love. After all these two have gone through, they deserve their happy endings.
*ARC provided in exchange for an honest Review *
Once again Julie Kriss brings us another loving, brooding and oh so sexy man who thinks he doesn’t need a good woman in his life. The chemistry between Dane and Ava is hot from their first meet, the flashbacks of what they had and oh man the way they come together each time just sizzled off the pages. I loved that even though Ava is well desperate she has her dignity even when it comes to a man like Dane I would have caved. Now Dane can sometimes act like a child but man when he mans up, ladies watch out. Julie Kriss and these men are like family in their own ways yet when it comes to their women they are overprotective in a sexy way. All in all this was a great sequel to the first one between these guys. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
Sexy as Sin by Julie Kriss is the second book in her Filthy Rich series. An interconnected standalone romance that focuses on Ava, the younger sister to the main character in book one, Filthy Rich and his business partner and best friend, the rugged tech genius, Dane. Told in dual POV and complete with a happily ever after, the story of their shared past and well-kept secrets combined with their current attraction and the entanglement of the business partnership and the fact that he is basically banging his best friends little sister… This book was explosive. Julie Kriss is a brand new favorite author of mine and this did NOT disappoint. Loved it! Enjoy!
Second chance romance, Dane and Ava story started and ended, years later they find themselves facing each other again. A fashionista meets again with his brother’s best friend and they revisit their past mistakes while their chemistry is still sparking as always. Definitely a must read, I am really enjoying this series too much.
I am loving this series that Julie has brought to life!
Ava Winters had loved once when she was young but she left it behind for bigger and better things…so she thought . She is now a fashion blogger that has a beautiful outside but is she really that person deep down. She feels as though she cannot find that right someone, perfect job or the real her! The only person that ever saw that real girl was the man she left behind.
Dane Scotland was a brilliant computer geek that fell in love with his friends younger sister but that was a long time ago and he is not that man anymore. He has turned in his geeky appearance for muscles but still has trouble pulling off the whole people thing . He is the programming brains behind the scenes of the company he built with his high school friends. When the chance of a lifetime to move their company global becomes available it is time to have Dane step out of his comfort zone and be the face the world needs to see. It becomes apparent that he may need a little help and he does not want it from anyone.
When Ava’s brother hires/asks for a huge makeover for the gruff and broody Dane she knows that this will do more than stir up a few memories ! It will bring back all the hurt they thought that they left behind but is it possible to work past it ?!
I loved their witty banter, push and pull and draw towards one another !!!

Another amazing story by this author! I loved this characters so much!
Julie Kriss gives readers an amazing second chance romance with her newest release Sexy as Sin.
Programmer Dane Scotland may be a brilliant millionaire, but he doesn’t enjoy peopling and his wardrobe consists of old t-shirts and ripped blue jeans. When a huge deal looms on the horizon, one of his partners decides he needs an upgrade and sends his sister and professional stylists Ava to give Dane a makeover.
There is so much more to Ava Winters than meets the eye. She is fierce and independent and currently struggling to make her mark and stay relevant as a fashion stylist in New York. When her brother offers her a crazy amount of money to give Dane a makeover, she really can’t refuse even though she may want to.
Unbeknownst to their friends and family, Dane and Ava have a past and their chemistry immediately reignites the more time they spend together. Neither has had a successful relationship after being one another’s first loves and first heartbreaks. Is their second chance at love fates way of coming full circle or are they both destined to end up alone again?
I really loved Dane and Ava together. She’s so outgoing and he’s a complete introvert who is terrible with people skills. And, their history together is heartbreaking. Both are such complex characters and I loved watching their back stories unravel throughout the book.
Neither Dane or Ava is really happy career wise and both need a change. They are so different, yet the same underneath as they were all those years ago when they first fell in love. And, I love that they finally got their chance to make things right.
Dane and Ava were simply perfection together even though it’s not an easy journey to their happy ever after. I enjoyed their banter, I loved that Dane was such a gentleman but found a way to give Ava exactly what she needed and, I adored that Ava found a way to believe in herself. 5 stars!
Sexy as Sin is the second book in the series that featured the story of Ava and Dane, who we had a glimpse of at the first book, Filthy Rich.
These two had a history way back, but had drifted apart when Ava went to New York for her studies. Both of them didn’t pursue the relationship because they thought that it really wasn’t one to begin with. Years later, Ava’s older brother Aidan asked for her help to re-invent Dane from his somewhat anti social, caveman attitude.
As fate would have it, they are thrown together in a situation that they couldn’t escape revisiting past hurts, guilt and feelings. The chemistry between these two were already there from the beginning and never left, so it was really easy for them to just fall again. There were some misunderstandings from the past that they have now resolved. As second chance romance goes, I guess that time was what they needed to mature and grow as an individual. And they did. Overall, an entertaining read for fans of second chance, bestfriend’s sister romance. Excited to read the next couple’s story!
Not just sexy as sin, but also sweet as candy! I didn’t think I’d love Dane as much but inside that grumpy and grungy exterior is one sweet guy. I saw him as mild, hugely observant, very intuitive, empathic with Ava, totally in love, and totally hers. As soon as they met up again, I knew they were each other’s lobsters, Ava just needed a little convincing. I knew Dane was in all the way from eleven years ago. I truly enjoyed reading this little gem of a story!
As we learned from the first installment, Dane, Aidan, Alex and Noah went to live together when they were fifteen, escaping from their crappy homes. Aidan had his little sister, who frequently stayed with them because their mother was negligent and emotionally abusive. When Ava was nineteen and Dane twenty-three, they hooked up. It didn’t last long, since soon after Dane sold his computer game which rocketed them to their millionaire lives.
Fast forward nine years later, and a Japanese mogul is coming to Chicago to visit Dane. Aidan wanted to make sure Dane was ready to receive this important visit and sent Ava to get him ready; as in, get him to dress well, not in jeans and grungy tshirts, and clean up his hair situation (man bun and shaggy beard). This wasn’t an easy job for Ava for the bittersweet memories but in another sense it was easy because Dane couldn’t deny her anything. Once they were together again, both realized how right it felt, how comfortable they were together. I loved reading about those days, how easy their conversation, how they fell back into their old rhythm. I got a chuckle about their game “poke the nerd” and “poke the fashionista”. I also got heartbroken at a scene in a Japanese restaurant, when Ava compared his life the last nine years and hers. He was a recluse yet he had two significant relations, where all she had were failed relations.
Going back to the city of her crappy childhood brought back bad memories to Ava. I saw her as a broken woman. Her life didn’t turn out so well, she lived on the fringes of fashion, never making it a success, never achieving the life she wanted to make as a stylist. The poverty and lack of success were making her feel as a failure, on top of the mental tapes she had from her upbringing. She was messed up and being back in Chicago with Dane brought up all her brokenness front and center and she had problems dealing.
Dane, on the other hand, realized why he was so grumpy; he was unhappy. That went away when Ava was with him again, but she was on a job, and then she would go away again. He was gentle, he was supportive, and he wanted her. But he had to give her space to deal.
I loved this love story. I loved Ava’s evolution and Dane’s resolution. I liked this author’s forward writing style and the way she developed her characters. It was entertaining and wholly enjoyable. The sexy guy and the sexy times and the loving feeling between Dane and Ava was really yummy.
Fantastic is every way! A sexy hot romance, terrific characters and an entertaining storyline. I didn’t read the first book (my bad) so I didn’t have any background on the Tower VC guys, or Ava, but I didn’t need any to enjoy this story. I was pulled in from the beginning with the sibs hilarious bickering and I read it straight through! It was so worth my tired eyes all the way to the terrific ending. When Ava invaded Dane’s home to work miracles for Tower it was everything you want in a sweet, steamy romance. I fell in love with the sassy, sarcastic & vulnerable Ava right from the start and when she engaged with Dane it was heaven. Dane is such a fabulous hero as the nerdy hermit with a heart of gold. Boy, do these two have history and hot chemistry. This is my first read by this author and it was exceptional. The writing was excellent with outstanding characters and a storyline with lots of real life issues handled with care and empathy, a swoon-worthy romance, a couple you can cheer for with a few laughs thrown in. I loved it! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Sexy As Sin is the second in the Filthy Rich series but can stand alone as it is the story of one couple, with appearances by past and future characters. Sexy takes on Ava and Dane. Dane is one of the Tower VC guys whose tech savvy helped take them where they are today. Ava is Adian’s little sister and was a fixture in the apartment while the guys were teens, hiding from her neglectful mother. Dane and Ava have history that they haven’t shared with anyone else in the group and it is what drove them apart. When Ava goes to Chicago to clean up Dane for a huge meeting (think grown-up nerd boy) old feelings can’t be denied and fate is giving them a second chance to get it right.
With winter settling in, Sexy As Sin is the perfect read to curl up in a warm spot with a hot drink and indulge in a few hours of easy reading with heartfelt characters and a sweet story. Dane and Ava have the same problem as people ~ they overthink (mostly wrong by the way) everything that has happened to them separately and together. Ava is the type of character that you sympathize with. She has a dream job that isn’t quite working out the way she had hoped and the men she dates are disappointing to say the least. She had a great love but that slipped away. Years of her mother stomping on her identity and person made Ava who she is today, less than she could be. Dane is a straightforward guy. Smart and caring, but lacking in the aggression to get what he wants most until fate kicks his butt in gear.
Dane and Ava’s story is a little bit heartbreaking, a little bit funny, and a whole lot about expecting more for yourself and from yourself than what you think you should. Sexy is engaging with interesting characters and a second chance at love that is as easy as it is complicated when the characters get out of their own way.
This is another captivating story by Julie Kriss. Dane is a Sexy As Sin nerd, who together with his three childhood friends, is beyond wealthy, but is more interested in computer code than a personal dress code.. Ava is a fashion stylist, who is asked by her brother to give Dane a makeover. Unbeknownst by her brother, Ava and Dane had a relationship when they were younger, but drifted apart when they couldn’t get past an issue.
Ava is at a crossroads in her life because she is broke, feeling her age and not as successful in her career choice. Dane is also at a point where he needs to also make difficult decisions. The author takes you on an emotional ride as Ava and Dane come to grips with their past, present and what they want their future to be.
A must read and a great addition to the series following the four friends as they find love. This is a voluntary review of an ARC.
I really enjoyed this book. This time it centres on Dane the resident nerd and Ava, Aidens little sister. When we first saw them in book one you just new something had happened between them but what we do find out is not only do they have chemistry they also have history and a lot of it as well as heartbreak. This second chance romance pulls at your heartstrings and it’s also a captivating read one which I couldnt put down. I loved Dane and Ava and their whole journey. I cant wait for the next book.
Ava is tasked with “cleaning up” Dane with a new wardrobe and other things. Her brother is best friends with him. Dane is happy doing his coding and is a nerdy guy. He likes his jeans just fine. He’s never quite gotten over Ava and the heartbreak they went through years ago. Ava is adjusting to how hot and different Dane is now and fighting her attraction to him. A feel good second chance read that I recommend.
This was a cute second-chance romance. Dane and Ava obviously had a connection from their past. I will say I wasn’t really feeling any longing for them about their past which made most of it seemed a little rushed for me. It was cute but not my favorite.
I wrote this review based on an advance reading copy that the publisher sent me.
ooooohhh, hot mama!
Chemistry.For.Days. That’s what Dane and Ava have going on between them-
The second book in the Filthy Rich Series.
Did not disappoint! Sexy As Sin is all tabooness, fun, second chance, I hate you / I love you storyline. With heaping doses of Ms. Krisss’ amazeballs uniqueness that incorporate wicked arse alphas, strong-willed females, intense, witty, and high octane heat scenes, with signature, twists~ Perfecto!
A one-sitting wave the white flag cover to digital cover read- I have officially fallen down the rabbit hole for these guys! I need more stat!
An absolute MUST read!
I received a free copy of this book from the author.
This is the second book in the Filthy Rich series. It can be read as a stand alone novel. Filthy Rich, book 1, you’ll meet all the characters but the main characters are different. Sexy as Sin focuses on Dane and Ava.
Dane is the brilliant computer programmer who helped himself and his three childhood friends become millionaires. Fast forward ten years from that sale to present day and Dane’s best friend sends his sister, Ava, to help give Dane a makeover for an important meeting.
This part of the book is quite endearing seeing Dane be the gentleman he knows how to be but also struggle a bit with being himself. Ava gives him such a hard time but it’s because of their history that she’s throwing shade every chance she gets. Self-preservation at it’s finest.
Their love story is somewhat of a fairy tale. Once they come clean with their friends/family it’s a whole new ball game. I think you’ll enjoy this book – even if you haven’t read the first one. I recommend you get both because hello (!) books. You can’t loose with a good romance to swoon over.
