I love Alana Khan’s characters and the story lines in her books. Having said that, I need to warn you that this book has graphic adult situations and you need to be a mature reader. This is the story of Lexa who is a con artist and a real dislikable character in the beginning. She will grow on you. It is also about an alien pirate named Sextus, or Sex to his friends. Things get a rocky start between the two of them. They have a dangerous adventure together and raise a great deal of funds for the pirate ship. They work out a relationship neither were looking for along the way. This has an HEA. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it.
I disliked both of them at the beginning and ended up loving their story and them
I received a free advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Loved it! This story was well written and I was so into it that I went from total dislike for the H/h, to rooting for both of them.
Tragedy and hard times shaped both of their characters, but together they’re growth is heartwarming, sexy, and humorous.
Lexa, comes across as a spoiled self-centered little know it all. I was so impressed with the fact that she was able to get herself change her life after the way she was raised (after I got to like her).
Sextus, , , he’s a bad boy but not a bad man, (okay, I liked that about him) he has a life long mission and Lexa just happens to be one of the sexy stops along the way.
OMG, the villian PERFECT!
This story was a wild ride but has a HEA that will make you smile and sigh in the end.
Wonderful start of the new series.
This is the first time I’ve read any Alana Khan book, and as I read this book in the Galaxy Pirates series, I got the impression that some characters were already introduced in previous series. However, the reading went smoothly, reading as a stand alone.
In this series we are introduced to Ship Tranquility’s pirates.
On planet Paradise there was a cataclysm. The river ran backward and the temperature plunged eighty degrees in an hour. As they were about to escape the planet, the crew of Tranquility stumbled upon three Earth females locked in a cell.
Brin had been in captivity for many years; and she chose to stay on planet Primus.
Carrie had also been kidnapped from Earth 4 years ago, and would have no way of explaining her disappearance if she returned home.
Only Lexa had been taken less time, and still wanted to get her PhD in Psychotherapy, she wanted to go back.
The crew couldn’t take her back because of the cargo they were carrying (perishable), so only Sextus made a deal with her.
But this (strange) agreement could not be fulfilled as promised, and had to take a certain shortcut, and this new path ends up taking Sextus in the same place as Daneur Khour, the man responsible for the death of Septima, Sextus’ sister.
A new plan was established – now one of revenge – as Lexa and Sextus continued to pretend to be a couple… and the chemistry between them reached sky-high and hot scales.
After revenge fulfilled, would Lexa still want to go back to Earth?
4 stars
Book one in the Galaxy Pirates Alien Abduction Romance Series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Sextus and Lexa’s story there is suspense, drama, danger, a villain, a cocky male who finds love and a woman who desperately wants to get back to Earth, and the two of them coming to find love. I want to read the next book. I read this copy through K.U.
I really enjoyed this book because it was not your ordinary alien romance story. From the beginning everything you thought about the pompous arrogant Sex proved to spin your preconceived notions in a different direction and suddenly this sexy guy turns out to have way more more depth to his character than you expect! The plot was fun with gambling, cons and mafia danger at every turn! It was definitely an exciting intro to the Galaxy Pirates series and I can’t wait to see what Alana Khan has up her sleeve next!!!
Wow!!! This book I wanted to hate it so bad, because I hated Lexa. And Sextus wasn’t much better than her let me tell you. But the author made me see them in a different light and understand them mentally and emotionally. They’re still not my favorites, but the depth that she gave them made me understand them. She took me in a mental and emotional journey that I enjoyed. This book and its characters are so well developed, and you can see and feel the love and careful planning that she put into it. It made just sit back at the end and say Wow.!! Brava!! Ms. Khan Brava!!!
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Only Alana Khan can take two seriously unlikable characters and have you cheering for them by the end of the story. Sextus believes he will blackmail Lexa into being his bed mate for the coordinates to Earth but after learning she is a virgin he rejects that idea. However brought together by circumstance he must be her bodyguard and the more time they spend together the more they grow as people and a couple. I honestly was not sure I was going to like this new story mostly because of Lexa but as you learn more about her background raised by a conman and as Alana says hurt people hurt people. However as I said the more pages I read the more I could not put it down. Alana Khan is turning out to be one of my favorite new authors and the books centered in this world some of the ones I cannot wait to get my hands on.
I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for a review. Sextus was not my favorite of Khan’s books. Perhaps it was due to Lexa being so unlikeable in the beginning? I’m not sure what happened but I had a hard time getting into it. That being said, I have a couple of tips. Read Khan’s Devolose first for some interesting back story and stick with Sextus. Sextus felt different from Khan’s other hero’s and that was refreshing. I really enjoy how Khan continues world building by showing us new planets and various different alien species. As usual the love scenes are steamy and well done. Overall I would recommend Sextus. 3.5 stars!

I loved it!
Sextus and Lexa are brought together by a rescue of Lexa and two other female prisoners from Paradise. In the beginning, Lexa only cares about Lexa and comes across as a spoiled self-centered little know it all.
Sextus is the muscle of his space crew and he has had his eyes on Lexa since they first rescued her and the others.
As they come together, I found out that I really couldn’t hate either one of them because their past actually formed their frame of mind.
I found myself rooting for Lexa and surprised she accomplished what she did on her own.
I really wanted Sextus to have his revenge but at the same time, I wanted him and her together.
And the villian, perfect! What a MONSTER!
This is a wonderful start of another great series!
Even though this is Book 1 of this series, it really is a spin off of a previously established series I have never heard of, and I don’t think I have ever read this authors work before. This book was recommended by another author’s newsletter, so I decided to try it out. The peripheral characters were introduced like you knew their history when I didn’t. I don’t like jumping into a series mid way, if a book looks interesting and it isn’t the first one, I will read the previous ones to be up to speed with the book of interest.
I actually almost stopped reading this book before the end of Chapter 2. I am not a big BDSM, or torture fan, so when those chapters arose, I again hesitated. I am glad I finished this book, it was interesting and fairly well written. I didn’t like how it ended with the primary villain. I guess this is for future books to have an established nemesis, but I won’t be reading any future books in this series. I really didn’t like the level of evil Khour depicted, and that of his minions. Too creepy and crass.
Glad Lexa and Sextus found their HEA.
I normally end my reviews with “Well worth your time and $$”, but I read this via Kindle Unlimited and don’t want to under value this authors work in any way.
Great kickoff for new Galaxy Pirates series…
There were a few plot holes that made me think, “that wouldn’t happen in real life!” Then I remind myself, seriously? This is interstellar space travel with alien abduction of humans. A trope that you have to suspend reality anyway. So this book took a bit for me to warm up as to the premise/plot holes and characters that I initially didn’t like much.
However, the author sure has a way of making less than likable characters evolve throughout the course of the story to a character that I can at least understand, all the way to characters that I absolutely love. This was one of those stories that it took me time to warm up to the characters and by the end I was rooting for them.
