far from his best work
Typical Stone Barrington novel. I enjoy reading them.
This was a typical Stone Barrington book except that I felt it ended before all the story was told. (My wife felt the same).
Stone Barrington is always a fun character to follow.
I used to enjoy Stuart Woods books, but found this one to be a bit lacking… I didn’t realize that they are written serially, and that this one stopped suddenly in its tracks, clearly expecting the reader to pick up with the next book. Probably not going to happen.
I can only give this book 3 stars as it left some things hanging. Why were the 3 mysterious suitcases in the 3 hotels Stone owns? That plot line just fizzled out … and I bought the next book in the sequence and no mention there, either. I don’t like money grabs and this is exactly what it felt like. Disappointing because I’ve always admired Mr. Woods.
Stone Barrington is obscenely rich, has the best luck of any fictional character, and is fun. An American James Bond without all the gadgets. Dino, Herb and Viv are great foils, not to mention his phenomenal assistant Joan. Stuart Woods has created a wealthy Spencer who lives in New York rather than Boston.
Not one of Woods’ best. Reminiscent of “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.”
1 Star would be generous. Absolutely a waste of time.
The ending was abrupt.
Always enjoy Stuart Woods books
easy read
Stone Barrington fell into lots of money, buys houses and private planes to fly to them…..gets laid a lot. Standard fare but light reading waiting to see who will want to kill him this time.
If you like the Stone Barrington stories by Stuart Woods, you’ll probably like this one. However, it’s far from his best. The plot is a little thin, but an amusing and quick read for a lazy afternoon.
DiSAPPOINTED IN THE ENDING.
Boring. Worst Stuart Woods book I’ve ever read. All it’s about is a guy winning a lottery and spending money as fast as he can. I love Stuart Woods novels, but I don’t know what happened with this one. Would not recommend.
I always enjoy a good Stuart Woods book!
Stuart Woods continues to write neat mysteries with Stone Barrington as the main character.
I love Stuart Woods’ Stone Barrington books
Although I don’t “approve” of Stone’s lifestyle and methods of doing things, I am hooked on all this series! They are quick, easy reads with fascinating plots. Read them all if you can.
