USA TODAY BESTSELLER • Wake up and feel the wood! In the first of a series of irresistible standalone romances from Sawyer Bennett, a city girl rediscovers love and lust in the Alaskan wilderness. Valentine French may be the sassiest dating columnist in New York City, but the abundance of metrosexuals in her adopted metropolis is seriously cramping her style. Where are the beefy all-American … are the beefy all-American boys? Hoping to find some inspiration, Val heads to Alaska, where the men outnumber the women fifteen to one and wrestle grizzly bears for sport. Or so she can only imagine. Suddenly the most eligible bachelorette in a town full of horny lumberjacks, Val is writing her best columns ever. But if she doesn’t get her nose out of her laptop, she just might miss out on Mr. Right.
Logan Burke is the sheriff of the little podunk town that Val finds so charmingly backward. He’s not that different from the guys she’s using for her little experiment; it’s just that one date would never be enough for Logan. As he listens to Val complain about love over beers in the local tavern, he realizes that she can’t see the forest for the trees. Because if she would ever give up her Prada bags and fourteen-dollar martinis, Logan would give her the only luxury that matters: his heart.

Sawyer Bennett is one of my favorite authors. Can’t go wrong reading one of her books. Give it a try
I loved about this wonderful story. I liked the Alaska setting and all the entertaining characters who live there. I also fell in love with the two main characters. They share a lot of chemistry and were perfect together.
(3.5- 3.75 stars)
I love Sawyer Bennett’s books and was excited to read SiTS. I don’t think there’s a book out there today like this one and it was a much needed breath of fresh air. Valentine is tired of dating the metrosexuals in NYC and after some prodding decides to take her chances with the lumberjacks of Alaska. It was rather funny watching Valley, the young, wealthy, blogger trying to fit in amongst the natives. While some of the “scenes” are not as rowdy as some of SB’s other works, they still hold their own!! SiTS is a mixture of humor, romance, angst and of course tall, dark and handsome police chiefs While this is not one of my favorite by SB it is still worth a read.
Let’s just get to the goods right away, shall we? I absolutely did not expect this book to be as hot as it was. I’ve been a Sawyer Bennett fan for a while and I know what she is capable of but I admit that I semi stereotyped this type of book into the safe category. Meaning that I thought it was going to be a bit tame on the steamy side of things. THANKFULLY I was completely wrong. While Sex in the Sticks is sweet and fun, it sure packs one powerful sex punch. I’m pretty sure I made that up but you get where I’m going with it.
Valentine French is a NYC Socialite who runs a blog about her dating life. Fed up with the Metrosexual men she’s used to, she ends up in Alaska in hopes to serial date a bunch of lumberjacks and to try out “real men.” Her trip is funny and sometimes over the top but it kept me wanting to know more and to see how everything played out.
Logan Burke happens to be the Chief of Police in the small town that Valentine ends up at and he’s one sexy, loyal and swoon worthy man. He immediately finds himself in Valentine’s path a lot and eventually they see each other for more than just friends. Logan will steal your hearts immediately, Ladies. Consider yourself warned. He’s a true gentleman with a filthy mouth that turns your insides all gooey and tingly.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was fun, light-hearted for most of the time and steamy. If you are looking for the rugged small town swoon worthy man who rescues the big city Socialite, then this is the book for you. You’ll laugh and have your heart beating, that’s for sure. There’s also a bit of a How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days feel, minus the attempt to do things to drive him away. If you are a freak about that movie like I am, then you’ll get it.
Val sure knows what to say to set Logan off, “Jesus eff,” Logan groans as his smug look falls away. “And now I’m fully hard.” I giggle and glance down between our bodies again, and God almighty… he’s the largest man I’ve ever been with…” Logan really does not appreciate his woman’s yapper of a dog, “I’m not crazy about your dog because she jumped up on the bed the other night while I was effing you and licked my ***,” I grumble.” I enjoyed this book so much, Logan was so rugged and sexy.
This caught me so off guard. I was not expecting lumberjacks, loggers, a sheriff, and a tiny dog.
Valentine was so refreshing in her mindset. She is so independent and aware. That is a nice change from other stories lately. I do not blame her for being so sick of all the metro men in her life, I would have been as well. Taking a break and visiting East Merritt may be just what Val needs.
East Merrit’s chief of police/Mayor Logan Burke was not expecting to drive Val into his town when she got off the plane, but he did. He also did not expect to like her or want to share his life with her. But that is exactly what happens.
Sawyer gave me a story I needed. I needed the laughs, the love, and the romantic suspense.
This is such a great start to this series.
Liked this book! Fun to read.
This book should come with a warning – Will not be able to put down until finished and will definitely result a great time! Valentine has had enough of the men in New York City and her cousin has recommended Alaska for a change in scenery. Since she is a blogger about her dating, she decides to keep this up and rate the men of Alaska. She is out of her element when she lands and starts accepting dates but the sparks the really ignite are with the chief of police, Logan, who keeps rescuing her. This was a fast paced and totally engaging story with wonderfully colorful characters.
I definitely recommend this one!!!!!!!
