Semiretired mob guy Eddie DeCooch is caught trafficking contraband cigarettes through Trenton, New Jersey. When DeCooch fails to show for a court appearance, bond enforcement agent Stephanie Plum is assigned the task of finding him and dragging his decrepit ass back to jail. Not such an easy job, it turns out, since DeCooch has learned a lot of tricks over the years and isn’t afraid to use his … gun. He’s already shot Loretta Ricci, an innocent old lady, and left her for worm food in his shed. He wouldn’t mind shooting Stephanie next.
Likeable losers (and Steph’s former high school classmates) Walter “MoonMan” Dunphy and Dougie “The Dealer” Kruper have inadvertently become involved with DeCooch. They’ve gotten sucked into an operation that is much more than simple cigarette smuggling and holds risks far greater than anyone could have imagined.
When Dougie disappears, Steph goes into search mode. When Mooner disappears, she calls in the heavy artillery and asks master bounty hunter Ranger for help. Ranger’s price for the job? One night with Stephanie, dusk to dawn. Not information she’s want to share with her sometime live-in roommate, vice cop Joe Morelli,
A typical dilemma in the world of Plum.
And on the homefront, Stephanie’s “perfect” sister, Valerie, has decided to move back to Trenton, bringing her two kids from hell with her. Grandma Mazur is asking questions about being a lesbian, and Bob, the bulimic dog, is eating everything in sight–including the furniture.
Mud wrestling, motorcycles, fast cars, fast food, and fast men. It’s Seven Up. Absolutely Janet Evanovich at her very best.
more
Seven Up is another delightfully crazy Stephanie Plum tale. Stephanie is given the apparently simple task of locating and bringing in cigarette smuggler Eddie DeChooch. The task turns out to be anything but simple. In typical Stephanie Plum fashion things immediately go crazy. Dead bodies, car damage, her mother pushing Stephanie to get married. Add to that Stephanie’s “perfect” sister arriving in town with her two ‘pain in the butt’ kids and some bad news… I found this to be a wonderfully hilarious read to get lost in for a few hours and simply enjoy.
Lots of ridiculous fun.
I like all of The Stephanie Plum books I have read. They are cute and fun and a great way to spend a hot summer day.
This was an excellent book! I really enjoyed the story and the teaser at the end! *applause to the author*
The early books in the series wee much more entertaining, so read this one
Janet Evanovich’s wise-cracking bounty hunter, Stephanie Plum, has plenty of nerve which gets her into lots of interesting situations with bail jumpers and her two sometime lovers/knights errant. Lots of action and laughs.
It is always fun to read the adventures of Stephanie Plum. Her silly adventures make for a great read.
Love all of her books in the series! Very enjoyable.
This whole series is so addicting. Love it!
Love the Plum series!
I love the entire Stephanie Plum Series. It’s a great easy read!
The early
Stephanie Plum books are laugh out loud fun
The author that all other cozy mystery writers are compared to. Evanovich owns the genre with her Stephanie Plum books. Funny touch of suspense and romance.
Very funny book
After reading Book Seven, I feel like all the others (except for Book One which was really good) should all be four stars and this one five stars! Maybe I could just add a half star up on this one, instead.
This book had me laughing so hard, I couldn’t stop. Maybe it’s just me. I see by the reviews above, that not everyone gave it five stars (there’s that subjective part), but I don’t laugh easily and I thought it was well done.
Stephanie’s ineptness is still annoying, but I’m letting it slide since this book entertained the hell out of me with multiple laughs. Joe Morelli’s grandmother’s “eye” reputation keeps the fun moving. We still have some characters from Book Six back for this ride as well and we get introduced to more of Steph’s immediate family, the sister who was previously mentioned but not seen.
I am still looking forward to the next in the series. Let’s see if Janet can keep me entertained for an eighth book. I hope so.
Very fun to read. Witty and creative.
My life is so dull compared to Stephanie. What will happen tomorrow? Stay tuned and keep reading.
I would read anything this author writes. Her stories are entertaining and witty.
Finally that whole Joe nightmare is over! (fingers crossed) Stephanie is still crapolla of a bounty hunter but I am really enjoying reading about it. There were a lot of new characters introduced but I missed the old ones. Lula made a few appearances but I can’t get enough of her! I wonder what interesting things are going to happen to the Plum family next. I can’t wait to find out!!!
Another Plum novel you don’t want to put down trying to keep track of all the chaos Stephanie causes.
