Welcome to New Orleans, Louisiana, where every myth and scary story you were ever told is real. A place where the things that go bump in the night, or daytime for that matter, are surprisingly friendly. For the most part.
Take a good look at your neighbor, the person sitting beside you at the bar, or your coworker. Are you sure, they’re human?

Seth is another Le Beau brother about to find his mate. This time, Emma and Isaac had to force him to accept a human woman to hunt down a rogue together after he killed her brother. Seth is an elite hunter blessed with more gifts than the average shifter. He also knows the truth about their origins. Sara is a police officer in Minnesota. She is on the hunt for a rogue that her and her brother knew very well at one time. The problem lies that he is not a typical rogue…he has moments of lucidity and fights off the rogue nature. Seth and her join together as mates to hunt the rogue. What they discover is terrifying and could mean horrid consequences for the Le Beau family if they cannot discover who the mastermind behind all the problems are! I received this book as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
This was an awesome story. Yes, it followed the same line as the other books in the series. However, V.A Dold was able to make each Le Beau Brother’s story very personal. Seth is the type of character you can’t help but like and root for his happiness. He is vulnerable, yet very strong, and oh so lovable! There were a couple of interesting twists and a hunt with a surprising reveal. It was nice to have Richie join his friend and to get to know Seth’s mate, Sara. Sara is no shrinking violet and has the training to work side by side her mate. I hope there is more to come in this series as we still do not know who is trying to destroy the Le Beau family. This story reveals more about their evil plot and just how far they will go to gain the throne.
Wow
Seth finally gets to have a little piece but in doing so he has once last hunt four a rogue, but in the process he meets his mate Sara. Sara is a detective, her brother in law in a shifter so she knows about them. But the rogue killed her brother.
Seth and Sara work well together.
Major plot fail ruined the ending for me.
Long time since I read one of these. I pick one up every now and then as I thoroughly enjoyed Cade. Never been quite as good as book one.
Fun interaction/dialogue between Seth and his wolf form Fang. Empathised with Seth over his hard past but understood his need for becoming an Elite Hunter. I thought he softened and changed character too easily, from recluse with an emotional barrier, to light-hearted joke making romantic.
Though I liked Sara a lot, her attitude jumped continuously and she did the TSTL act, which I found ridiculous as she is a homicide detective.
The information given by Luperca was very intriguing and I found it believable.
I found it totally unbelievable and it spoilt the whole story for me, that Seth takes no actions after Paul explains about what happened to him in regards to the Benevolent Sovereign, be that a faction, clan, or person, not really explained clearly if it is a who or what.
Seth’s father and brothers are in danger and apparently the Benevolent Sovereign is in the camp around his family.
When Seth phones his mother that night, all he says is, can you un-bachelor my house. WTH?
Nothing about the danger, the possible threat, NADA, ZIP, NOT ONE WORD OF WARNING.
Two whole weeks later, Sara and Seth return to Louisiana and still no discussion seems to have taken place, nor does Seth, A LONG SERVING ELITE HUNTER, even try to figure out who the infiltrator is amongst the family/pack.
Put this down to me being a Beta reader or just being picky but I hate plot holes.
I assume this background problem will continue in the next book but that doesn’t excuse what I have just pointed out.
A bit jerky in story flow in the beginning. Had to stop a couple of times to think about what had just happened and when. Punctuation, especially commas, were misplaced.
Seth and Sara are a wonderful independent couple. They both want to protect the other. This well-written story has lots of action and romance which keeps you turning the pages. The final fight with the rogue leaves us with more questions, which will be answered in coming books I am sure. This is a really great addition to the Le Beau series.
This was a great book !
Seth is part of the elite band of hunters.
They police the other shifters.
Sara is a homicide detective hunting the monster that killed her brother.
Now, Sara crosses path with Seth.
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Great series and have read twice.
Book 7 in the Le Beau Series. A story of a man whose life is filled with centuries of killing one’s own kind. He belongs to the Elite Band of Hunters, those wolf shifters who have given up family, friends and love to follow their Goddess’ commands in destroying rogue shifters. His promised time to his Goddess is nearly up and he will at last once again be with his family. Killing for centuries changes a man and he hopes his darkness can once again become light. But he learns that the Goddess has one more mission for him to take and this time he is ordered to take with him a female detective to track down a rogue; a rogue that was once his friend and is the killer of the detectives brother. The Goddess has brought them together for a reason, a reason that brings one joy and the other confusion. The story is filled with the horror of destruction by the rogue, love that must be understood and proven, and one big surprise. Secrets that have been hid from these shifters for centuries finally are told. This series always gives me great satisfaction but what comes around the corner in this one, really blows my mind. Before I finished this story I shouted out a few “WHATTTT THE HECK’S”. That’s it, too many hints have been given, you’ll just have to pick up this fascinating book to find out what happens to the hero and heroine, as well as the rogue, for not all is as it seems.
Love VA Dold’s books. This one was no exception. Can hardly wait for the next one. Full of mystery and intrigue. Loved it from beginning to end.
