TC Matson delivers a love story with hilarious laugh out loud moments and a ton of push and pull. There’s nothing wrong with being single.I’m not a woman scorned. There’s no heartbreak I’m recovering from.I just enjoy not having to answer to anyone and doing what I want when I want.Unfortunately, my two wonderful best friends think the opposite and decide to meddle.Just because they’re both … decide to meddle.
Just because they’re both happily taken, they believe I should be too.
Their “wonderful” plan?
Speed dating…
A bunch of men and women tossed into a room for a night of awkward dates.
Sounds horrific, right?
But because my signature was forged on the contract, there’s no canceling.
Three men catch my attention.
One steals my heart.
Another steals my time.
And the last one steals my patience.
It doesn’t take long for my heart to betray me and I fall for a billionaire who shatters me.
Now I’m left picking up the pieces and he won’t leave me alone.
Great…Just frickin’ great.

This book is everything I have been wanting to read in a book. I loved the premise of the novel (going speed dating and how they only met for like five minutes but the impression they left on one another was unforgettable). I liked the slow progression of their relationship but I could tell that Nathan was holding back and battling with himself to let Brooklyn into his world. At times Nathan really frustrated me with his secrets and decisions but when he finally let his guard down, it was beautiful to see. Nathan and Brooklyn definitely had their fair share of ups and downs throughout the novel but I loved how they were able to work through it and how they had an awesome support system in their friends. I am beyond excited to check out the next book in this series!!!
Set up is a book that had me smiling about the antic of well-meaning friends. Brooklyn’s best friends, who are not single, decide that she needs a man in her life to be truly happy. She does not agree but humors them by going on a speed-dating experience that they have signed her for. Nathan’s best friend, who is also single, decides that Nathan needs to make himself a priority and find someone with whom to share the fruits of his success. The story that ensues is an angst filled ride to see if Brooklyn and Nathan can find happiness with each other after connecting at this speed dating event.
I enjoyed the characters and the relationships they had with their friends. The twists and turns the characters experience are the kinds of things that happen in relal life and keep the story grounded. It was quite entertaining to watch Brooklyn and Nathan fight through trust issues, strange coincidences, and their own inner dialogues to find happiness with each other.
This first book of the Taking Chances Series lays out everything a reader needs to be satisfied by a good story. It also leaves a bit of curiosity as to what will happen with a couple of the friends who seem to have a few of their own sparks igniting between them as well.
This is the first book in the Taking Chances series and the first I have read from this author. I really enjoyed this quick rom-com. Great characters and a fun storyline. Loved Brooklyn and Nathan. Can’t wait to read more of this author and this series.
I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
#Blinddatewithabook
This is my first read from this author and I really enjoyed it. When I read the blurb I was intrigued with how this would play out and I wasn’t disappointed. Once I started I was hooked not wanting to put it down until I had finished.
I really liked the characters, Nathan was hot and swoon-worthy even if he was slightly frustrating with his indecision and lack of trust but I get it. Brooklyn I absolutely loved, she was feisty and strong and didn’t take crap from anyone. She stood her ground with Nathan and it was a sight to behold. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot.
I really loved their friends and I am looking forward to reading their stories.
Brooklyn is happy with her life, has a job she likes, and is happy being single. Her friends however, seem to think she needs a man and sign her up for speed dating. Nathan’s is signed him up for the speed dating experience by his friend, Cody. He’s a CEO of his own company, a workaholic, has trust issues, and no time for relationships. When he meets Brooklyn their chemistry is off the charts from the start. I absolutely adored Brooklyn and Nathan and their banter was hilarious. I loved everything about this book and I highly recommend it.
I was Set Up with this book by TC Matson by Blind Date with a Book! I’m so happy I was.
This sweet, yet steamy romance warmed my heart.
It isn’t all roses for the main characters. Their meddling friends can’t keep out of it, and this reader sure was glad for that.
Nathan is having a difficult time letting this woman into his life! He’s a workaholic.
Thanks Cody for pushing! And Brooklyn’s friends Aimee and Shyla, thank you too!
This was just a fun story to read. I was smiling a lot! Fantastic dialogue!
I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This was a great story about two people duped by their friends to attend a speed dating event. Brooklyn is perfectly happy being single but her besties are both in loving relationships and want her to find her special someone too. The speed dating scene was hilarious and migraine inducing but Brooklyn ended up meeting a few interesting guys. Nathan is a workaholic and believes he doesn’t have time to date plus he has major trust issues from past experiences. I enjoyed watching these characters find their way to each other. Putting their hearts on the line to find their other half. This was an entertaining story with amazing secondary characters. My first TC Matson book but it won’t be the last!
*I received an arc for my honest and unbiased review
Loved it! Finished in a day, couldn’t put it down. Became so invested in not only the main characters story, but I NEED to know what happens to their friends as well! Can’t wait to start book 2
I really enjoyed this book. Great story and characters. The chemistry was really good. The story pulled me in.
I absolutely needed this book. Non stop laughs with great chemistry making it a non stop read. Brooklyn and Nathan are both strong, independent characters who I quickly fell in love with. A must read, i can’t wait for more of these characters and their friends.
Nathan and Brooklyn take from one emotional high to the next. It’s sweet, has some laugh out loud moments and some intense scenes that will pull at your heart and make your eyes fill with tears. It pulls you in from the very start and don’t let go till the very end. Amazing read that had me wanting more and more. Can’t wait to read what she next.
What a fun story!
I love TC Matson’s books and was overly excited for a new series. I get new friends in a new world and I love it.
Nathan and Brooklyn met under funny circumstances because of meddling friends. They had an instant attraction and I wanted them together. BUT Nathan frustrated me by being a dumb man. He nearly ruined them twice by making snap judgments about her based on HIS past. I LOVED that she was strong enough to say “Screw You! I deserve better” and walked away, even though it hurt. His groveling was so sweet even I gave in, falling in love with him right with Brooklyn.
Their friends had a bit of flirting going on and I am super excited to see they are getting a book.
I really like this group of characters and hope for even more books in the series
A super entertaining, fun read about what goes wrong (or right) when you trust your friends to set you up. But not just on a date but a speed dating event. You won’t want to miss this story of disaster dating at it’s finest with plenty of chemistry.
This is the first book I’ve read by Author T.C. Matson and I freakin loved it ! . . Do you have any pesky best friends who love you whole heartedly but interfere with your personal life to the extent of signing you up to a speed dating sight ? .
No ?
Well Brooklyn does . Aimee and Shyla forge Brooklyn’s signature and sign her up to a speed dating night she wants to kill them but she knows they only have her best interests at heart. So reluctantly she goes and five minutes after being there she starts thinking of ways to kill her former best friends. I love friends like Aimee and Shyla .
Anyway …. Through out the night she meets some winners and losers however only three men she meets holds her attention, well maybe two and a half . The half she’s not so sure about but he made her laugh so there’s a bonus right.?
Only one of the three made her heart skip a beat or four , he’s good looking was easy to talk to and his voice alone made her weak between the knees.
Nathan was stitched up by his best friend Cody and went on this rediculous speed date to shut him up . But when he saw the most beautiful woman he’d ever laid eyes on four tables down from him his curiosity got the better of him and wanted to talk to her . Five minutes isn’t enough time to get to know her and wants more .
Dates are set up between the two men she liked but upon finding out the third man was the best friend to Nathan, Brooklyn new he had alterior motives just like her scheming best friends.
I found in reading this book how much I enjoyed the characters and the bantering , the friendships forged and the delicacies of trying to find love in a world where two people from different walks of life try to find there way through trust issues , self doubt and minippulation . I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading the next book in the series .
Set Up kept me reading until the end in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down.
There were laugh out loud moments, parts I could see me and my besties saying and doing and drama that could easily happen to any of us. I loved how Brooklyn was her own woman and was able to focus on her life without needing a man. But the romantic scenes made me swoon.
There’s so much more to Nathan and Brooklyn’s relationship and the other men she met at the speed dating night. TC has magically captured everyone’s emotions, connections and relationships. Book 1 certainly is a great start to this new series and I can’t wait to see what happens in Books 2.
This a really sweet and sexy story. It will have you smiling and ready to hurt someone. It’s just enough of everything. I love Brooklyn! She is totally lovable and has a huge heart. Nathan is sexy on the outside with major trust issues. She falls in love with him and proves her worth. He proves to be a pain in the butt. It’s a great yo-yo story with great banter between the characters. I loved it! I loved their friends also.
Set up is fun, intense and keeps you wanting to turn the pages. TC Matson did an amazing job writing this book. After Brooklyn is set up by her friends to speed date, she has her eyes on three men. But one only really makes her heart flutter. Brooklyn does not let anyone run her over especially Nathan. Nathan is wealthy and hard at trusting others, especially woman, but Brooklyn is different. When they are together it is explosive. It was hard to put down once I started. Definitely recommend Set Up as a must read.
Brooklyn is a woman that doesn’t need a man to feel complete. Her two best friends don’t feel the same as they have found happiness with a special man. They sign Brooklyn up for speed dating and she can’t get out of it. She meets Nathan and a couple of men from that encounter. I liked how Nathan and Brooklyn connected and the fun times they had with each other. There are also funny moments in this story. A good read.
5 Set Up Stars!!! TC has knocked it out of the park again!!! I’m hooked!!
I already know that when I get an TC Matson book I’m in for a treat, and boy was I right with this book!!! Brooklyn and Nathan are such a fun, dynamic couple, that you just can’t help but fall in love with!! I loved the whole idea of the book, it’s refreshing and so much fun!! What a great start to the series, I can’t wait to get the next book in my hands!!! Seriously TC you’ve outdone yourself with this one!!! So, so, so good!
I had a fun time reading this.
Set Up is the first book in the ‘Taking Chances’ series by TC Matson, it’s also my first read by this author and it certainly won’t be the last. She has a lot of books for me to catch up on. But, on to Set Up.
The premise is Nathan and Brooklyn are ‘set up’ on a speed dating evening by their best respective friends. Aimee and Shyla arranged Brooklyn’s ‘date’ experience and Cody took care of Nathan’s.
These friends all think they know what’s best for their buddy, and it leads to Brooklyn being forced to endure three hours of mundane talk with 30 strangers. She finds three who are ‘just okay’ but then along comes Nathan and it’s lightning at first strike.
Their chemistry flew off the pages it was that concentrated. But… Nathan has some trust issues and he wasn’t even looking to try speed dating. He’s busy and has no time for a woman or a relationship. Or so he thought until Brooklyn lit up his world.
There’s a lot of pushing and pulling, hot and cold shoulders and some sexy banter all mixed into this cute and enjoyable story. I wanted to slap Nathan at times, he gave into his ‘issues’ rather too readily, but thankfully, he had Cody to help him see the error of his ways.
