She’s a waitress with no room for distractions. He’s a prince wishing for a simpler life. Is there any hope for a happily-ever-after?Julie Winters’ life is simple: work and college. Her five-year life plan doesn’t allow for detours of any kind, and that includes no dating. With her family counting on the money she makes from her tips at the lodge, Julie is serious about her responsibilities. She … about her responsibilities. She definitely won’t let a man distract her, even when he looks like Max, a guest from Europe.
But when Julie’s old car breaks down, the mysterious Max is the one to rescue her. And when she needs an archery tutor, Max volunteers for the job. Soon, they’re spending time together, and Julie likes it. Maybe a little too much.
Prince Maximilian Wolfe is in the U.S. to look for investors, not to find a girlfriend. His friend Prince Henry likes to go clubbing, but Max prefers the simple things. When he meets Julie at the restaurant where she works, he’s immediately intrigued by her beautiful brown eyes. Julie is different and genuine, and Max looks for ways to spend more time together.
There’s only one problem—Julie doesn’t know Max is a prince.

Several days ago I saw an ad for Serving the Prince by Lucinda Whitney, read the synopsis, and thought, “I’ve got to get this book now!” It was actually free on Amazon when I went to purchase it, which I thought was an extra bonus and further proof I needed to read the book ASAP. I pretty much devoured it in less than 24 hours. Coming in at a little more than 100 pages, this book can easily be read in one sitting. I actually really appreciated that. This week was our finals week at my school and I needed something lovely, light, and fast-paced to see me through the final days of testing and grading for this school year. I found this story engaging and unputdownable. I like Julie and Max. I appreciate Julie’s hesitancy upon first meeting Max. She doesn’t swoon and fall head over heels for the guy. Instead, she takes a moment to evaluate his character. Then, once she gets a good sense of who he is, she allows herself to feel something for him. Max, however, is instantly drawn to Julie, but in a super sweet, he-notices-a-diamond-when-he-sees-one, kind of way. I like how much he respects Julie. He treats her like a princess the whole time — he even rides in on his noble, white steed (a white Ford Mustang, LOL!) and saves the day. It’s pretty excellent and quite clever in my honest opinion. One thing that stood out to me is how well the author portrays Max’s sense of loneliness. That cliched saying, “It’s lonely at the top,” is pretty true. I would imagine many wealthy people, many royals included, often feel a sense of deep loneliness because of who they are. Can they really trust people to like them, respect them, for who they are? Or are people just looking for a handout? I appreciated being able to see things from Max’s point of view and to get a real sense of his vulnerability. Many assume rich and popular people have easier lives than regular people, but Max reminded me that this isn’t really true at all.
Serving the Prince is a fun story that I’m really glad I got to read. My only issue with this story is that it ended too soon! I guess I’ll just have to read the next book in the series . If you’re in the mood for a fast-paced, sweet, Contemporary Romance then I highly recommend checking out Serving the Prince and the other novels in the Royal Secrets series.
I purchased a copy of this novel in eBook form from Amazon.com on May 31, 2021, in order to review. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
This is a short story (which I’m not a fan of). If you like hallmark romance movies, you’ll like this book. I wish it had been much longer.
It’s fairly predictable as a prince (trying to be incognito) from a made up land falls insta-in-love on a cruise with a waitress. Even though it is part of a series, you could read it as a stand alone.
It is clean with only a few mild kisses.
Enjoyable
Another wonderful story. It was well written. I love how they try to keep themselves as normal as possible. But finding a non gold digger is wonderful.
This is just a sweet, cute and quick read. I loved it! It’s a cinderella type romance with a charming Prince meets a simple waitress. Once I started reading I couldnt stop. I was charmed!
This is my first book by author Sophia Conrad and I only wish I would have found her writings earlier. I am such a happily-ever-after, Cinderella, love the a prince kind of girl and this was just up my alley. The story was so sweet and easy to read. The characters were true to life and likeable (though I’ve never met a prince). The story grabbed you right away and I spend the day reading because I didn’t want to put it down.
In the story, Julie Winter’s is hard working, going to college and not having much else of a life. She mets this handsome man at the bar she works at and feels something about him that makes her want more. The handsome man is Prince Maximilian but Julie only knows him as Max from Europe. They both feel the sparks and starting talking and seeing each other. Everything was going great until one day the paparazzi spots them and they call out Prince Max. Julie is hurt that he never told her the truth and wants nothing to do with him. After moping around a few days, her best friend tells her to get her act together and go to the ball to talk to Max. After that… well you’ll just have to read the book. Of course, I can’t wait to read the next one in the series as well.
This is a short, well-written story. It was fun to read. I liked Max and Julie, the main characters, and was hoping for a romance to develop between them. I was not disappointed. There is no cliffhanger, but I definitely would like to read more of their story.
I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.
This was a Cinderella-like story with a poor waitress college student and a prince except she didn’t know he was prince right away. Julie was very stubborn at times, not wanting to accept help even when she is stranded with a broken down car and has no other way to make it to work on time. I don’t know why she assumed archery would be an easy elective. I think I would have chosen fencing instead. The novella length story happens over a few weeks.
The Audible narrator has a smooth sweet tone with voice inflections and changes in all the right places. At times the narration seemed stilted, but that could be mostly due to her showing Max speaking English as a second language.
This was a cute, clean, fun, short read. I really enjoyed the characters and the plot. I am so glad to know that we will see more of Max and Julie in future stories.
Julie, a commoner meets Max, a prince. However Julie doesn’t know Max is a prince. Doesn’t really matter, she doesn’t have time for a male distraction anyway. However, Max shows up at all the opportune times and before you know, you have a sweet love story.
Max never knows who is genuine in their friendship, who to trust. Being a prince has that drawback. For that reason, he decides not to tell Julie, his beautiful waitress, who he is. He’s thrilled to get the opportunity to rescue her from car trouble, because it gives him an excuse to spend time with her.
Can Max find more ways to spend time with Julie without crossing the boundary of being creepy?
Will Julie be able to see herself beyond a difficult childhood?
This is a fun, lighthearted fairytale!
I listened to the audio version of this book.
This sweet, clean series of books is just delightful and Serving the Prince fits right in. Julie meets Max while serving drinks to him. They seem to hit it off right away, even though Julie isn’t a very trusting person. She has no idea that Max is a prince…and he’d like to keep it that way for as long as possible.
The two of them are perfect together and the story is fun to read.
Cinderella Meets William Tell
This is a short, sweet, delectable little confection of a Prince Charming story. Really, Europe has too few principalities left, so authors have had to invent kingdoms and countries to satisfy the fairytale princess in each of us. One of several novels written by a group of friends, each novel stands alone. I also enjoyed Raine Barrett’s voicing of the various characters of this Hallmark-style book.
This is a gentle romance that can be read in an evening. It generally follows the Cinderella theme, but instead of a glass slipper, we have a beat up old car and archery lessons. The book comes to an inconclusive ending that I found frustrating. It is nevertheless sweet and clean and can be read by most age groups. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
“Serving the Prince” by Sophia Conrad
A fun contemporary Cinderella-ish story Sweet and Clean, and not too long. A 5-star story… I do love the make-believe worlds good authors create for my enjoyment.
