NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Psychologist Alex Delaware and detective Milo Sturgis search for answers to a brutal, decades-old crime in this electrifying psychological thriller from the master of suspense.LAPD homicide lieutenant Milo Sturgis is a master detective. He has a near-perfect solve rate and he’s written his own rule book. Some of those successes—the toughest ones—have involved his best … ones—have involved his best friend, the brilliant psychologist Alex Delaware. But Milo doesn’t call Alex in unless cases are “different.”
This murder warrants an immediate call. Milo’s independence has been compromised as never before, as the department pressures him to cater to the demands of a mogul: a hard-to-fathom, megarich young woman who is obsessed with reopening the coldest of cases—the decades-old death of the mother she never knew.
The facts describe a likely loser: a mysterious woman found with a bullet in her head in a torched Cadillac that has overturned on infamously treacherous Mulholland Drive. No physical evidence, no witnesses, no apparent motive. And a slew of detectives have already worked the case and failed. But as Delaware and Sturgis begin digging, the mist begins to lift. Too many coincidences. Facts turn out to be anything but. And as they soon discover, very real threats lurking in the present.
This is Delaware/Sturgis at their best: traversing the beautiful but forbidding place known as Los Angeles and exhuming the past in order to bring a vicious killer to justice.

Another great Milo and Alex by Kellerman
Book 36 and I never grow tired of Alex Delaware and Milo Sturgis. This has been one of my favorite series from the beginning and I’m happy to say this newest book does not disappoint. Full of twists and turns I read this book in one sitting. Kellerman always weaves a good tale full of fabulous characters, a good storyline and wonderfully descriptive food. I look forward to book 37. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and I’m voluntarily providing an honest review.
I just love the friendship between Alex and Milo, they work so well together and get each other. This was a good story and had a few twists. I always enjoy Jonathan Kellermans books.
I enjoyed this book but the editing was not up to par.
Typical Kellerman novel- well written, interesting characters, plot not too obvious. I wish he would break his LA habit of providing too much information about the routes they drive… “took this freeway to that freeway…”. But I read all of his books, and they are always consistently good.
Kellerman is still at the top of his game–I love this series.
Years ago, I was a huge fan of Kellerman. However, as years went by, his books were not as wonderful as they once were. I put Serpentine on my reading list because the reviews indicated that J.K. was “back”. Yes, he is! The book was great. It took a little while to get hooked, mainly because of the many characters introduced early on whose actions I had to keep track of throughout the events of the story. Keeping everything straight got easier as the story developed. Great mystery. Complex story with many moving parts. Milo is better than ever. And, Alex’s relationship with Milo has matured to a deeper level. Even Robin has a little bigger role this time around. Highly recommend. If you are an ‘old’ Jonathan Kellerman fan, you will enjoy this ‘new’ and ‘improved’ Jonathan Kellerman.
Another of my favorite authors. I’ve read Kellerman since the beginning. This is a good one.
Milo gets handed a very cold case due to a connected woman contacting the right people. The investigation starts with a daughter wanting to know what happened to her mother. Which unveils interesting information. Not at all flattering to the victim.
This is a well thought out snarled mess, with twist and turns, but figured out at the end my Dr. Delaware and Milo!!!
