Another serial killer novel. Ho-hum. At least this one wasn’t as tedious as many of the ones I’ve read.
It’s a little different in that the killer is taking out contestants in a reality show, killing each one a little differently, and we are spared witnessing the killings, only see the end result. However, his motivation for the killings is weak at best.
There are also a couple deaths that are not the serial killer’s doing, adding a bit of complexity to the plot.
Leine Basso, the main character, is a retired assassin but we are not told how she became one. This gave a bit of an incomplete feel to her character.
I’ll read more Leine Basso books if the fall into my lap, but I definitely won’t go looking for them.
This was a mid-pack book – not terrible, not terrific, just so-so.
