And a chance at something beautiful and true.
The problem with having a first and second love?
That would be loving them at the same time.
My story isn’t some sexy triangle.
It’s exquisite agony.
Fate gave me two men to love,
but none of us knew which one I could keep.

This book has everything. It made me happy, angry, cry, anxious. At some point wanted to throw my Kindle against a wall and break it! Arghhh… it’s a masterpiece by Ella Fields. She is just so good at what she does, and this book is no exception. It was unexpected in so many ways. I knew it had to be intense in terms of the emotions coming from her, I just didn’t imagine how intense it would be. I loved it and would give it 10 stars if I could! Thank you Ella.
This was good, I have mad respect for Ella because she is able to transport you into the middle of a story within the first page which is so rare for an author to achieve in my experience. I really like her writing, and I appreciate her stories. They can get repetitive but I was impressed with how likeable Stevie was despite her circumstances and back and forth between the two guys. We’ve all read those stories where the female heroine is like crack to every guy in the book and we’re all like WHY? But Stevie genuinely seems like a ray of sunshine and I would probably marry her myself. Her and Everett yup!
This book is heartbreaking, beautiful and everything in between. This is a story about Stevie, Everett, and Aiden. I love this authors books. There is always so much angst and emotions in her books. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!

Beautifully and tragically written. My heart was pulled in so many directions while reading this. There were many points when I wanted to throw my kindle over Everett and his actions. Then throw Aiden into the mix. What a love triangle!!
Ella Fields once again brought a new story with difficult decisions that lead to one heartbreak and one happiness. Serenading Heartbreak delivered what I expected it and Ella Fields to do. Drive me bonkers and pulling on every emotion right until the final page. Stevie had to make a choice between two incredible guys and I was glad it wasn’t me. That’s a testament to the writing from Ella Fields. These three characters screwed up numerous times but still, I came to care for them. Wanting the best for each of them no matter the outcome. Angst galore and it was fabulous!
Serenading Heartbreak first drew me in because of the cover. It’s absolutely stunning! Then after reading the blurb on Goodreads, I just knew I had to read this book. I had never read an Ella Fields book before picking up Serenading Heartbreak, but now I have almost every book she’s written on my kindle waiting to be read.
This book GUTTED me. Multiple times. I don’t read many love triangles. (It’s not thatI don’t like them. They’re just not what I gravitate towards) This one was so well written that my heart was torn in two right along with Stevie’s. There was so much angst and emotion in this book, which you know I love. If you’re a fellow angst lover, then I highly recommend you pick up Serenading Heartbreak.
I’m a wreck!!
This book is honestly, hands down, one of my favourite reads this year!
It is heart wrenchingly beautiful and full of emotion. I felt like my heart was pounding in my chest trying to reach out to these character throughout their journey through self discovery, challenges and first loves! I don’t think I knew which way was up sometimes during my read as I was so involved with this book and when it ended I didn’t want to leave them, in fact, I still haven’t as I’m struggling to get myself into any other book and can’t stop thinking about this one.
@ellafieldsauthor this book is wonderfully written, unique and one that will stay with me forever!
I don’t know where should i start with this story…. This book whoa i finished this book in jus one sitting it was so damn addicting. This was my first book by Ella and damn i m already in love. I m sucker for love triangles so i wanted to read this for a while but i never expected this story to give me all the freaking feels. God what an emotional roller coaster i bawled like a baby. This hurts so good. I couldn’t decide which guy to choose bcz they both won my heart but that epilogue nearly killed me. I absolutely love it. So happy with the way it ended!!! Floved this book.
Def gonna read other books by Ms. Fields
I love the realism of Ella’s books. No matter the subject matter, I can actually feel myself in the world’s she creates, living heartaches and heartbreaks right alongside her characters. This book was so beautiful and so difficult in the best way because of the powerful emotions it evoked in me. I wasn’t sure even in the end who I wanted Stevie to end up with, but that’s part of Ella’s talent!
If you believe you can love your children the same, then surely you can fall in love with two different men. First loves are hard to get over, god knows mine was, and Stevie has the same problem. It’s not that we want to dwell in heartache but it’s not wanting to lose that feeling of the sweetness and being wanted. It’s also hard watching one of you moving on to a new partner and trying to be happy for them.
Stevie had fallen for her first love well before they got together. He was also smitten but never felt worthy of her but before he left town, they had a brief romance. One that was hard to shake. But she finished school, and left town herself to attend college where she met her second love. He knew all her background but was happy to wait until she was ready to move on from her initial heartache. What could cause them to end their new relationship? Only one man could come to see her and cause havoc.
I felt for Stevie, I really did. It wasn’t about wanting her cake and eating it too, it was that these two guys were so different and she loved them for that reason. Having to choose would have been a nightmare and I’m still trying to think if her final decision was the right one. I do believe the epilogue gave me a better sense of closure and I’m happy with the outcome and the HEA’s.
If you are looking for a book to draw you in, and keep you interested, with a lot of angst, then grab this one and enjoy the ride.
ARC kindly provided. All thoughts are my own.
All of the emotions. Every single one of them. I was instantly drawn in to the story and it kept me wrapped up until the very last page.
This is a story of not just one love but two… at the same time. Stevie meets Everett when she is 15 years old. He’s just moved in the house across the street and he became fast friends with her older brother. Everett has things haunting him about his past but he seems too have found some solace with the family across the street and when he discovers his love for music. Feelings develop but as with a lot of loves, something is always pulling them in opposite directions. Stevie heads off to college where she meets a Prince.. he plays baseball at the college they both attend. Time goes by and different circumstances arise.. life keeps handing Stevie different obstacles. Her head and her heart are at odds and she feels torn. That’s the most I want to say. I went into this book not knowing much more than the tagline on the front cover and I really enjoyed it like that. I honestly had no idea what would happen by the time this book was done.
I think I just really identified with Stevie’s character and the things she goes through because of how her heart loves and wants. Not everyone will identify the way I did obviously but you don’t have to identify with Stevie in order to still love this story as much as I did. There is of course in true Ella Fields fashion, so much angst. Which, I personally love. I want the ups and the down and the longing and knowing better but doing it anyway. Sign me up for all of it. Love is messy and beautiful and completely broken at times and I feel like Ella just really does all of that justice. She 100% puts your heart through the wringer but if you love emotional angsty books then you will thank her and ask her, sir, may I have another? So, grab this book up.. get your emotional support blanket.. and dive in when this baby goes live.
Only Ella Fields can make me simultaneously want to throw my e-reader at the wall and hug it at the same time. Her words slay me, every time.
This story was devastatingly beautiful.
A real page turner.
Maddening, Gut wrenching, heartbreaking and sweet. Angsty as all hell and beautifully finished.
Another masterpiece from an amazing author.
One million stars
Ella’s Serenading Heartbreak has been a journey of all different kinds of emotions in me. She wrote a story of forbidden first love that just made me think outside of the norm. At first, I was giddy, then frustrated, heartbroken then giddy again, and then sad but in the end it was what I had wanted. Ella will never disappoint in her ability to write angst. In Serenading Heartbreak we get angst and more.
“ I need to know you forgive me before I take anything else from you.”
Is it possible to fall in love with two guys, who are so different and love them both completely?
Stevie has been in love with her brother’s best friend ever since he showed up brooding at her house to see her brother. A forbidden romance, a first love so intense that it can completely shatter your world if it goes wrong. All Stevie wants is to be someone’s first choice, their only choice.
What would you do if you were in love with a man wholeheartedly and then you fell for another?
“To fall in love twice was a beautiful rarity. To be in love with two men at the same time was a cruel twist of fate.”
For those of you who don’t know and have never read Ella Fields before…
She is the queen of fucking with your emotions and your heart. She will make you cry, shatter your heart and leave you in a heap on the floor. Serenading Heartbreak is no exception.
Normally I’m not a big fan of love triangles but this angst filled rollercoaster is now a favourite of mine. The reason I don’t normally like this is because I’m normally torn and love both of the guys and want her to end up with both. As much as I loved both guys in this book, one stole my heart and I am Team him.
I won’t give any spoilers away, all I’ll tell you is this. Download the book when it releases, get chocolate, get tissues and be prepared to not sleep because you will inhale this story from the beginning until the very end, you won’t be able to put it down until Ella Fields heals your heart.
Outstanding
I’m so struggling on how to write this review as my emotional capability has been rendered by Ella Fields. Each book of hers is tragically real. It’s raw and pulls on your emotions. It makes you read her words and reread the words because they are touching. They make you feel all emotions on the spectrum. Serenading Heartbreak delivered on all of these counts. If you follow me at all, you know I was promoting this book like no other book. Ella is one of my unicorn authors and I devour anything she writes. Also, have you seen the cover?! It’s absolutely beautiful.
Serenading Heartbreak was an epic love triangle. The angst was top level angst. The story line was unique. It was sad. It was uplifting. It was full of smiles and tears. I can’t say much more than that as I don’t want to give anything away. You need to read it for yourself – just do it! There were definitely times I wanted to pull my hair out but Ella always puts it back nice and pretty. The gift she has to craft her stories is just amazing.
FINALLY….I have been in search for a love triangle that just sweeps me away, keeps me so entrapped into the story line that I don’t want to put it down and I can finally say that I have found it in Serenading Heartbreak. Gosh…this book did it for me. It has EVERYTHING that I love in a love triangle. The back in forth, the struggle between the characters, the love, the hotness, the angst, the suspense of who is chosen, and the battle between the hearts. I loved the whole story line between Everett, Stevie, and Aiden. I too was on the fence of who I wanted Stevie to end up with, but I did hold out hope for the one that I really wanted to win Stevie’s heart for life. I went back in forth between Everett and Aiden myself because they both brought something different to the relationship. I felt every emotion of this book and fell head over heels for this one and is so re-read worthy. This story is still in my head and has me wanting to start it all over again. This is my first book of Ella Fields and her writing was perfect in every way with this book. I am now on a search of more of her books. Really, I totally FLOVED this book and I am hoping to get more possible books from the characters that are mentioned in this book because I found myself loving each one and considering that some are members of a rock band….well that would be an added bonus to see more of their stories.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
Serenading Heartbreak is a five star read for me!
This is the first triangle I’ve ever read and Ella has left me speechless(which doesn’t happen often)!!!
This story has put me through the wringer and I’m so grateful!
I wanted to scream and throw my kindle, wrap each character in my arms and console them while they learn from their mistakes, evolve and find self forgiveness. This had all the feels I laughed, cried and swooned all while getting my heart ripped out and put back together.
Ella Fields has done it again!!!!
I like love triangles when one of the characters is evil or unworthy, because someone gets a kick in the butt and the good ones unite. In this case, it hurts because all the characters in the triangle are worthy. One of them is going to get hurt when the plot is done and even though it’s a fictional character, I feel and hurt for the one who loses. And if the one who loses the girl is the one I like, I will hurt even more. This book kept me on hooks because it was like a see-saw, you really don’t know for sure who will be the guy.
Everett moved into town the year Stevie turned fifteen. He soon became best friends with Stevie’s brother Hendrix. And Hendrix very soon turned Everett into a musician. Stevie and Hendrix’s mother is a music teacher, so their house is filled with music. In such an environment, Everett blossomed, in spite of his crappy home and abusive parents. Hendrix and Everett and other friends formed a band, which was one of many Hendrix had formed and fizzled out. The parents were indulgent, fully expecting the usual band fizzle out, but this time the guys persevered and the project continued. During all this, Everett and Stevie are getting closer every day. Eventually, they reveal their feelings, but the band engagements conflict with their time together.
Stevie fell hard for Everett but he is a very broken boy. As he grows and the band gets a following, he spirals down faster and faster, with booze and women and drugs. Stevie has her path all planned out and she follows on her plan, but there are interruptions when Everett appears and disrupts her life.
Tired of waiting for Everett and his lack of commitment, she meets Aiden and starts dating him. Then Everett appears and gets jealous and intervenes. Poor Stevie is in a bind, because she fell in love with Aiden and still loves Everett. Everett is broken but tries to deal, to get his issues sorted and live a regular life for Stevie. Aiden stays in the circumference of Stevie’s life, waiting for Everett to screw up and come to the rescue.
I loved that Everett was crazy about Stevie and he was steadfast in his love. The only problem was that his devils drove him down a road that brought despair to both of them. It was like a never ending story of the guy who wanted but couldn’t and the guy who could but didn’t seem to get a chance. And poor Stevie was caught in the middle of two men she loved and couldn’t decide who to keep.
The plot in this book is tumultuous and heart-wrenching and passionate, and I loved every angsty line in it.
I didn’t like this book.
This was a messy book with bad characters and too many tropes mixed in.
There was nothing that I liked here.
Oh my emotions! I need Jesus and a drink.
Days after finishing this book and I still don’t think I can adequately review it. I’m not sure I have words to do this book justice. I was immediately ensnared by this book and by the characters. It is powerful. It is emotional. It is a book that you will feel in your bones.
Twists I didn’t see coming and decisions I weren’t sure about were made. There is so much angst in this book. So many times I became frustrated with ALL the characters.
This story will bring out every. single. emotion from its reader. You’ll feel raw from the journey. The chaos, the heartbreak, the frustration is worth every single page because, in the end, you will FEEL.
