A beautiful story with a great moral
Serafina, an Eurasian eagle, is a bit shy and often fearful around others. But she longs to enjoy more of the world and knows that this means she has to do something, even she is a bit afraid to do so. And so she flies out. She sees beautiful things she never had seen before. She talks to the doves and the storks she meets on her night trips. When she goes to bed, exhausted, every day she feels stronger inside and dares to go a wing further. She’s having chats with new animals and birds she meets, and enjoyed the wonderful country she live in.
In this story, with beautiful illustrations, the author gives a wonderful lesson. Don’t let fear, let you down, go always a little bit further and you can become stronger and experience beautiful things.
And as an extra moral in the sideline, Alma Hammond gives the kids a view on why the old donkey bullies others, well a bully doesn’t love himself…
I loved the message within this sweet story, and enjoyed watching as Serafina builds her self confidence, and learns to enjoy flying further afield rather than simply fearing the unknown. A great story to help encourage kids, especially those who are naturally shy, to try new things and to want to explore the world around them. I also loved the book’s beautiful illustrations, with their warm, glowing colours.
For older kids, and adults reading with them, the author has also thoughtfully included lots of interesting facts after the main story – about Spanish animals, places and activities mentioned. Highly recommended.
This is a delightful story for young children with beautiful illustrations. Serafina is a shy owl who, with the help of the other animals she meets along the way, overcomes her fears and begins to explore the world around her.
With its simple language, interesting facts, and lovely drawings, this is a book that children will treasure forever.
Beautiful illustrations and an inspiring story. I did however find it a little advanced for children. But with parental input it is a great book.
Serafina Soars~ is a beautifully illustrated book.
The author imbues the story with subtle themes of courage and lessons of growth and building confidence. The teachings throughout are the best kind, as they are absorbed while going on an exciting adventure. Children will feel exhilarated as they soar with Serafina to exotic places where the shy and majestic eagle owl meets other animals along the way. Parents and teachers alike will enjoy the fun facts included at the end of the book. The children will love the magical illustrations and being a part of Serafina’s travels.
Soar along with Serafina the eagle owl as she explores Spain. This is such a cute and educational book for children.
I especially enjoyed reading the additional information on sights and animals at end of book.
