September Breeze (Cinnamon Bay Romance Book 2) by Nikki Lynn Barrett – Review by Randall Murphy
The setting is a quaint quirky little Bay-side town with all the adorable characters and close-knit environment that normally accompanies them. The plot is deep and had me laughing, smiling, and even misty-eyed at times. This story will draw you in and hold you captivated while it teaches some important life lessons. The characters will make you fall in love with them as well as the story. This story will make you want to know more about the town and the “magic love potion” that the old ladies brag about.

September Breeze, A Cinnamon Bay Romance Book 2, by Nikki Lynn Barrett. This is not the first time that I have read books by this author. I have truly loved reading her books. This book will tug at your heart strings. I loved the strength that Tess had after everything that she went through. She was afraid to open her heart again but how could you not fall head over heels in love with Tatum, Alice and especially Brian. I think one of the best parts was reading the interaction between Tess and the girls. This was a sweet romance but with a powerful story. I absolutely fell in love with Cinnamon Bay and the Taylors. I can not wait for more!!!!
September Breeze (Cinnamon Bay Romance Book 2)
By Nikki Lynn Barrett
September Breeze is the first book I have read by this author and I am hoping it won’t be the last. This is a beautiful story of an up and coming song writer by the name of Tess, a widower by the name of Brian and his two daughters Tatum and Alice. Tess has arrived in Cinnamon Bay to write songs for a movie that is being shot there. While in a cafe the towns matchmakers over hear her say she needs another job and a place to live while she is here. They hand her an old add that has been written by the girls for someone to help their dad. This is how Tess meets Brian and his girls when she goes to check out the house and inadvertently gets interviewed by Brian. Little does she know that getting this job is going to change her life in a very big way. Because of something that happened in her past Tess doesn’t stay anywhere too long. But now she has found love for Brian and the girls, she doesn’t know whether to stay or go. Will she tell Brian what has happened in her past? Or will the love she has for this family be enough for her to stay?
September Breeze was a great 5 star read and book 2 in the Cinnamon Bay series.
Tess arrives in Cinnamon Bay and finds that she doesn’t have a place to stay during her short stay in town. She is a songwriter hired to write songs for a movie that is filming in the area. When someone overhears her conversation she is given an ad looking for a nanny, she decides to go to the house out of curiosity.
Tess ends up meeting Brian and his girls and they love her. She gets the job and starts to grow very close to all three of them very quickly. Tess tells them that she will only be there temporarily, when she finds out what happened to Brian’s wife she starts to understand the girls better. When Brian gets some news that could change things for him, Tess steps in and offers to help him.
Brian and Tess start to have feelings for each other, but she can’t stay no matter what her heart is saying. She can’t stay in one spot too long or he will find her. He continues to call her just to let her know he hasn’t forgotten about her. When she gets a call from home she rushes back, will she return to Brian and the girls or will she move on once again?
Overall I really loved the story and all of the characters, even the three nosy matchmaker ladies that brought them together. The way that Tess connected with Brian and her girls was great. The author does a great job of pulling you right in with her writing and I couldn’t stop reading until I was done. My emotions were all over the place. I look forward to reading more from this series and author. This is going in my must reads for 2019. 1-click and get started on this great series today.
To say I’m a sucker for single dad romances is an understatement. I LOVE THEM and this one definitely didn’t disappoint!
This is a story about Brian, a widow and has 2 girls, and Tess who is a songwriter who stumbles upon an ad looking for a nanny. The intensity between the two sizzled off the pages. I was completely hooked from the first page and kept thinking about the characters well after I finished the book. The story had all the feels that you want in a good romance with a splash of humor thrown in there.
I’m completely hooked now on this series and it’ll be a definite one-click for me!
September Breeze (A Cinnamon Bay Romance Book 2) by Nikki Lynn Barrett is one of my favourites this year. It just hits you in all the right places and makes you feel. This story really touched my heart and I laughed and cried. It is an emotional read but Nikki does it so well. She is just a talented writer in this genre.
Tess needed a temporary place to stay for her current job. When she is handed an ad by one of the three meddling town gossips, the curious part of her would not let it go. What she found was so much more than she was expecting.
Brian and his girls needed help but they could not get the help to stay that is until one talented woman curiosity got the better of her. However, when things take a turn for the worse he wonders if they will ever see her again.
OMG you have to grab a copy and have a beautiful journey for two lonely hearts.
September Breeze is the second story in Cinnamon Bay written by Nikki Lynn Barrett. Cinnamon Bay is a series filled with romance, mystery, and magic and the stories take place in the quirky coastal town of Cinnamon Bay, North Carolina. Each book is written by a different writer which gives us a series that will fall in love with! Nikki Lynn Barrett is a new writer for me and I know I will be picking up her books now that I have read September Breeze.
The small town matchmakers are at it again in this small town when they send a songwriter Tess Dixon to Brian Taylor’s door. Brian is a widow with two young daughters and is looking for a live – in nanny but of course it is not as simple as that as the add that Tess was given, it was not a live-in nanny that the family was looking for but a mother …
You can imagine where the story might take us and I loved the two little girls and the patience Tess had with them and I loved the affection and the playfulness and I also felt drawn to Tess’ baggage … don’t we all have some?
I recommend you to pick up a copy and join Tess and Brian and Alice and Tatum and join me in keeping our fingers crossed!
A great read about feelings..Tess Dixon is a songwriter working for a movie set in Cinnamon Bay. She arrives finding no accommodation ahs been provided for her but a local woman offers her a solution with a live in job position to a small family. Curious, she goes to the house and accidently lands herself the job. She promises the father she wont stay long in the position. But over time feelings grow and health issues appear, making Tess question her want to leave. Can she stick to the plan or will her feelings make her want to stay after all?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Tess determined but unsure underneath or Brian as a good father but with his worries underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like the sweet and silent Tatum or loud and boisterous Alice or the three eccentric ladies in Birdie, Hattie and Trixie
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the house itself small and tucked away but homely with the cypress trees and white stone. Or the scenes at the beach with the sea calm and blue as a space away from it all for the family wonderfully written. Or the storm later on with its sights and sounds so vivid its as if you’re actually there beautifully written.
The switch of perspectives was written well to display both sides of the story and was easy to follow with names in the sections and asterisks to separate them. I also liked the Mary Poppins feel to the story like the strange advert and a nanny coming from nowhere who loves to travel and also the want to leave which were all excellent additions to the story. I also loved the respect toward peope with disabilities in the novel like with Tatum’ mutism just accepted and not criticised. I also loved the portrayal of visual impairment in the novel later on with Brian’s worries and fears emotive and relatable and perfectly written. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.
September Breeze (Cinnamon Bay Romance Book 2) by Nikki Lynn Barrett
5 Stars
I did not read the first of this series and that is ok because this can be read as a standalone but it let me know I need to grab the first as well.
I loved this story, it had a lot of moving parts not just a boy meets girl. they fall in love and live happily ever after. This one had issues thrown as these two from every angle, from her past to his past and even his future. I loved the small town feel of this story and the matchmakers trio cracked me up.
I have loved every book I’ve read by this author and if this book is any indication of the rest of this series then I will definitely have them all. I was done before I knew it because it was an easy smooth flowing read. I loved all the characters and there were a couple parts where I teared up and some where I had a huge smile on my face. This was just an all around feel good read and I can’t wait for more.
Loved It!!
September Breeze is the 2nd book in the Cinnamon Bay Series by Nikki Lynn Barrett. Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone as each contains a complete story. I had not read any work by this author before but I was intrigued by the blurb and thought that this book would be just my type. Thankfully, I was right as I loved this book.
The one thing I loved so much about this book was the characters. Not only the main characters Brian and Tess (who are both awesome) but Brian’s 2 daughters Tatum and Alice both totally stole my heart. Added to these are the aptly named ‘trio of trouble’. You will love the bowling alley scene (not giving anything away but this scene is hilarious). I loved that the characters were down to earth, ‘normal’ people with everyday lives, making the story much more realistic.
This story grabbed me from the very beginning and didn’t let me go. It took me on an amazing roller coaster journey. There are moments which will make you cry, laugh, scream and go through every emotion possible. It is a beautiful romance novel that I would thoroughly recommend to others. Having read this book I’m eager to read more of Nikki Lynn Barrett’s work.
This book tugged at my heartstrings in the best possible way and sent me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. I found myself laughing out loud one page and tearing the next. A beautifully crafted book with just the right mix of romance and sentiment. A lovely addition to my lazy rainy day stash. Perfect!

September Breeze is the second book in the Cinnamon Bay series by Nikki Lynn Barrett. It is a sweet contemporary romance- a nanny/single father love story full of funny banter, mystery, family, small town magic, some drama, breaking down barriers, finding where you belong, emotion, troubled girls, secrets, past pain, worry, obstacles, ‘special’ brownies, crazy antics, adventure, forgiveness, and quirky characters.
Tess Dixon is a successful songwriter who has just arrived in town to work on the musical score for a movie being filmed in the area. But a SNAFU with her accommodation arrangements means she’s got no where to go- that is until some well-meaning locals give her an ad looking for help. It sparks her curiosity, and soon after she’s accepting a job as nanny for two troubled girls and their widowed father. She isn’t planning on staying long- just for the couple of months while the movie is being filmed- then she’s off again. She never stays in one place for long, and she doesn’t do attachments. But this little family really needs some help- and her ‘rules’ are soon tested as she begins falling for both the girls and their handsome father. What happens when secrets are revealed? What happens when life altering news is delivered? When feelings become involved, will she finally drop her defences and take a chance on love- or will her past become an obstacle too difficult to cross? Will walls finally crumble and hearts heal?
This is a great story- beautifully written and easy to read. The characters were well developed and endearing- quirky personalities and all. Even the secondary characters added to the over all feel and depth of the story, especially Tatum, Alice, Hattie, Birdie, and Trixie- the story just wouldn’t be the same without them.
Ms. Barrett certainly put her characters through the wringer though. I really felt for them. Not only did they have their past pain to deal with, then relationship issues, the two troubled girls to look out for, the meddling locals, her fears, his diagnosis, and adjustments- it got to the point where I was muttering “Oh! What now?! I don’t think the story need quite so much drama and angst- but, even with all that, I still enjoyed reading it.
I am looking forward to seeing what Ms. Barrett does next.
Thank you, Ms. Barrett!

This is the second book of this series, but its not necessary to read book 1 to read this one.
We meet Tess and Brian and Brian’s two girls, Tatum and Alice. I laughed, I cried, I swooned and came to the conclusion that I want to move to Cinnamon Bay.
We learn along the way all about Tess, who is a songwriter and she happens upon an “ad” for a nanny position and with the tight spot she’s in, she goes to investigate.
I instantly fell for Brian and the story of him and his daughters.
This is a must read book, and I will be diving into the next as soon as I can get my hands on it. A new one-click author for me.
September Breeze by Nikki Lynn Barrett is the second book in the Cinnamon Bay Romance series. This book can be read as a stand-alone.
I found this book to be such a heartwarming and sweet story. Tess, Brian and the girls were great to read about. From the first meeting you just know that you want them to find their happy ending.
The book had a great pace to it as well. The whole story flowed easily and had great development. For me this was the perfect book to lose myself in for a few hours on a lazy afternoon. It is a very good read.
Absolutely LOVED this story! One of the sweetest and most heart-warming stories I have read in a long time!
A single windowed dad with 2 young girls and a single adventurous woman make for an interesting mix.
There are no sex scenes so this story is safe for most ages. There was a hilarious reference to being naked as told by a 9 year old, which makes any parent a little uncomfortable, in an “I’m not ready for my kid to grow up” kind of way.
This is a story with all of the feels. Some tears, laughter, sweet sighing. A very nice read after all the sex crazy books I have been reading.
