New York Times bestselling author LaVyrle Spencer presents a beautiful and moving tale of a false marriage that leads to true love. The wedding of Clay Forrester and Catherine Anderson was the social event of the season. It seemed like a page out of a fairy tale. But everything about it—from the formal vows to the magnificent reception—was a lie. Catherine had reluctantly agreed to Clay’s … agreed to Clay’s “marriage of convenience”—and the only thing that could threaten their arrangement was the unexpected arrival of love.
“A superb story.”—Los Angeles Times
“LaVyrle Spencer’s legions of fans are drawn to her fiction because of its uncalculated emotion and the author’s almost old-fashioned sense of integrity.”—Chicago Tribune
“LaVyrle Spencer is magic!”—Affaire de Coeur

Absolutely loved it. I felt for Catherine and Clay and the endless misunderstandings they had due to each being too scared to share their true feelings. Absolute must read.
It has been several years since I read it but I remember enjoying it. Lavyrle Spencer is one of my favorite authors and I was sad when she retired.
Love, love, love this author. I believe I have read nearly all her books (and there are many) While this book was not her best, it was still very good!
I really enjoyed watching these two people grow and change as their life became intwined. Angry with her Father she has a one night stand with Clay who had just broken up with his girlfriend. When she turns up pregnant HIS father forces Clay to marry her. So together they decide to live as roommates and get a divorce after the baby comes. The months living with each other contrast the personalities of the two women and how shallow the girlfriend is. Only then does Clay understand what a better match his wife is. It has a great ending.
Couldn’t make it through it.
how our lives are affected by our beginnings, how much two people can screw up a relationship and how much to go thru to fix it. I really didn’t like Catherine in the beginning of the book, but learned slowly to understand where she was coming from along with Clay. This is a keeper to be reread & remind me of my past, not let it hurt my present.
I’ve read it before and just loved the characters and storyline.

LaVeryl Spencer is one of my favorite authors. She never disappoints.
I used to read LaVyrle Spencer’s books back in the 80’s and 90’s and I thought I had read them all. However, this is one I missed. I’m really glad I discovered it. As always … LaVyrle Spencer at her best.
One of my favorites.
I have lived every book I have ever read by LaVeral Spencer and this book is as good as all the others. She writes about intimacy in a very classy way and her endings are always pleasing.
Loved the story. Always happy when a poor girl gets the rich guy.

I loved this book, such love throughout and fighting within themselves
An older book. A little outdated but enjoyable.
