We’ve rid Oz of two outsider murderers. Glinda is next.First, the Oz just had to go vote in some yahoo who crashed here in a flying balloon. He turned Oz against the Sentinels and everyone started calling us witches. There were always four Sentinels protecting Oz—North, South, East, and West. I swear, everyone where that Wizard comes from must be an utter sociopath because the next person who … sociopath because the next person who ended up in Oz dropped a house on my aunt and murdered my mother. She stole my aunt’s silver slippers right off her corpse like some savage.
Glinda has established herself as the Good Witch of the South and abandoned her duties as a Sentinel. She wants to rule Oz instead of balancing the Four Points. Instead of learning from our ancestors, Glinda wants everyone to learn magic and compete for the honor of being one of the four Sentinels at Emerald City Academy. I’m competing against Munchkins, Winkies, Quadlings, and that psychopathic farm girl has been invited because she’s Glinda’s golden girl. The Gillikins in the North seem to be suspiciously left out of the school, which is odd because when good and Wicked Witch assignments were being given out, Locasta was crowned Good Witch of the North.
I honestly don’t know if Dorothy is dense or just evil. She’s got a Munchkin fan club and they are picking on my cousin Saffron because they think her mother was the Wicked Witch of the East. I can’t do anything about it because I have to figure out what this school is really about. I’ve got my Winkie friend Oprix, and Idris, the Prince of the Flying Monkeys here with us. No one knows the Flying Monkeys can now shift into men. The Quadling Headmaster, Daxar, seems to be on my side.
Someone started this. Someone broke Oz. It’s up to me, the daughter of the alleged Wicked Witch of the West to fix it. If I have to murder Dorothy Gale and Glinda the Good, so be it. I’m fixing Oz and restoring the Sentinels. No one at this school is taking my birthright.
more
Not just an adult spin, but also a different version on the childhood story of Oz, and I thoroughly enjoyed each page.
In this tale, Dorothy might not be the good little girl everyone portrays her to be. The wicked witches are really the good guys, but more importantly they are the sentinels who protect Oz, until they are killed. Now it’s up to Frankie to discover the truth and take over from her dead mother, known as the wicked witch of the west.
With her best friends the prince of the flying monkeys who can turn into a man, and Oprix a winkie, with whom she lives with, they enrol in the new magical school in Oz to learn the truth and reveal the truth.
I enjoyed the characters and reading all about the new storyline, and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.
Recommend.
Sentinels of Oz-A Reverse Harem Academy Romance (Book 1) by JB Trepagnier is a wonderful story to read. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about paranormal romance.

A whole new take on Oz. You have to suspend all your previous beliefs about the story to really dive into this retelling. The characters are interesting enough and the plot is engaging. Definitely worth continuing with the series.
SENTINELS OF OZ is Book #1 in the new EMERALD CITY ACADEMY series by J.B. Trepagnier. It centers on 21-year-old Francesca, or Frankie, the daughter of Azami, the dead “Wicked Witch of the West” – a woman Frankie remembers as the Sentinel of the West, killed by Dorothy Gale five years before. Frankie considers the sentinel position as her birthright, but those holding power in Oz may disagree.
When Frankie learns from Idris, the Prince of the Flying Monkeys, that Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, is to invite Dorothy back from Kansas for training at a new school for learning magic, she becomes furious.
Meanwhile Oprix, the son of the Winkie family Frankie lives with, confronts Glinda about her soon-to-be-opened Emerald City Academy. After hearing the details, he understands that Frankie will have no choice but to attend if she wishes to retain her claim on the Sentinel of the West position. Despite Frankie’s resourcefulness, he knows that Idris, like he himself, will want to attend the academy also, to help with her protection. The fourth of the group to attend must be Frankie’s cousin, and heir to be Sentinel of the East, Saffron, the daughter of Frankie’s aunt Adora, the dead “Wicked Witch of the East.”
As the two witches, one Winkie, and one Flying Monkey – who has recently gained the ability to morph into a man – take up residence at the academy, everything about their world changes. Not only are they interacting with other students, who are both friends and foes, but they are also discovering things about themselves, their bodies, and the pleasures they can give to and receive from one another. Frankie even discovers the pleasure available to her by relinquishing control to the headmaster, Daxar, who introduces her to his sensually provocative Gillikin games.
The book is written in first-person limited, with just over half the chapters in Frankie’s point-of-view and the remaining chapters in the POVs of supporting characters – a nice touch. The sub-title of each chapter is the name of the POV character – a handy clarifying format choice. The writing is clean, indicating a good revision process. Very short chapters make for easy stopping and re-starting points. Recommended for any who would like a steamy story set in the land of Oz.
What a joyride!
Fast-paced and full of action, this book is bound to keep you on the edge of your chair, but proceed with caution for this is not the Oz you know.
there are a few things left unanswered, so, book 2 here I come
Book 1 of the Emerald City Academy is a reverse harem adventure set in the not-so-wonderful-anymore land of Oz. Francesca and Saffron, daughters of the witches of the East and the West, embody the struggle of those who deal with notoriety in the family and trying to claim what is rightfully theirs, despite the prejudice and judgement of most of the populous. In this, the author gives the readers an intriguing perspective, from which Dorothy and her friends are not necessarily heroes they have been made out to be.
The characters are quirky and highly individual, but also relatable to readers. Each has strengths and flaws, motivations and priorities. The central characters also share a mission and a desire for justice, which binds them together and positions the reader alongside them. I really enjoyed the snark and sarcasm of Francesca, and I appreciated the fact that even though the four central characters had known one another all their lives, they could still disordered other.
The story is a highly engaging blend of fantasy and mystery which draws the reader in and keeps them guessing to the end.The ending balances the resolution of some questions with the development of others, making the reader both satisfied with the conclusion and keen for the next book in the series.
This book should not, however, be mistaken for a children’s story. The story contains adult and sexual content which is definitely not appropriate for younger readers.
Overall, this is a fun and enjoyable read.
I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It was a great having characters that are well developed and engaging and have plenty of chemistry. The flow of the storyline was steady and smooth.

Your emotions are grabbed by all of the characters especially Frankie. I cannot wait for more stories in this series/world

What a interesting approach to a world and story that we all know and love. It wasn’t easy for me to disregard everything I’ve always “known” about Oz and this book made me say, “wait a minute, what???” a few times. Which, for me, only added to my enjoyment. The characters are very well developed and the story flows beautifully. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
Not the Oz you knew
This story really changes your perspective about what happened in Oz. Trepagnier creates a very credible story that will have you questioning what you thought was real. Add to this love and slow burning lust and you have a winning story
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters were interesting. This is an interesting story to say the least. The Sentinels you have four and you have one person that wants to compete for a position.
Thank you for you allowing me to review your book.

*WARNING* contains sexual situations
This is an interesting twist to the Wizard of Oz. This story seems to have all the old characters and maybe a few new ones, but those old characters are very different than what they were. This Oz is still described as very colorful though. This is a great start to this series. This has interesting characters, magic and a mystery to solve. This really doesn’t focus on the academy, it’s more about saving Oz and it’s people.
OMG I love this authors take on the wizard of oz! From the very start I was hooked and a little lost when I came to the end cause I didn’t want it to finish! The storyline is exciting, the characters are just incredible and I for one cannot wait to see what comes next!
This is the first book in the series and its not oz by a long shot. This oz is dark and twisted and hiding all kinds of secrets including that there isn’t two witches in oz, but 4 and their not bad or they weren’t they used to defined oz. Now the daughters of the two witches Dorothy killed to get home are out or revenge until everyone finds out the real truth about oz.
Love love this wizard of Oz telling. Its a fresh new prospective with a sassy and ballsy FMC. It’s filled with drama, sexy times, and captivating characters. All the backstories are imaginative and informative. It’s truly a well thought out book that hooks you from the get go.
I loved this twist on Wizard of Oz. The story is so very well written as well as the characters. This book had me hooked from the beginning and I found it hard to put down. I highly recommend reading this book.

I thought this was a very unique spin on the story of Oz. Oz has been placed under a spell where the residents all think the Sentinels of the East and West are actually Wicked Witches of the East and West, but Glinda remains a good witch of the South even tho she’s a Sentinel & not a witch. Frankie is the daughter of the Sentinel of the West. When she was just 16 she came home to see Dorothy Gale walking out of her home & her mom dead. Frankie is friends with a Flying Monkey prince & a Winkie boy, who’s family she stayed with after her mother was killed. Glinda starts an academy for anyone that wants to come learn to train to be a Sentinel. Something is going on in Oz, and Dorothy & her friends are determined to get to the bottom of it.
I thought the characters were all interesting even tho a few of them could be a bit more developed, but it doesn’t detract from the story. Oz is Oz, Emerald City & all so the world building is a familiar setting. There is the start of a reverse harem as Frankie already has Ibris (the Flying Monkey prince) & Obrix (the Winkie). She also has 2 more that are interested in her–Darax, the academy’s head master, & Galen, a green haired boy that Glinda has a strong interest in finding. This story incorporates the Fisher King, which is a new concept to Oz, & he has an impact on Oz that will shake it to its core as he begins to play an even larger part in upcoming book(s) in this series. This ends on a cliffhanger. This is the 2nd series I’ve picked up by this author, & I have thoroughly enjoyed them all.
Dorothy has returned to Oz, to the great displeasure of the daughters of the Wicked Witches she killed the first time around. Glinda has opened up a school for teaching the residents of Oz to be sentinels. The munchkins are evidently bullies who love to pick on others.
Frankie, daughter of the Wicked Witch of the West, has terrible nightmares about finding her mother’s body after Dorothy had murdered her. I need a family tree to map out the rest of the family.
Wow, this tale can be overwhelming as it is a clever retelling of the Wizard of Oz with the characters all scrambled so you aren’t sure where to begin! What we knew as “good witches” are not necessarily good in this story line. Dorothy is not necessarily likable nor sweet. Glinda has a school but I’m not sure if it’s for the good guys or bad guys! And how did Dorothy get to attend the school? In this version, it’s the “bad witches” who are protecting Oz. At least I think that’s right? Anyway, see if you can follow the yellow brick road and figure this out!
Ingenious spin off from the classic Wizard of Oz. Enjoyed this take on what happened to all the residents in Oz when the dust settles. I was caught up by the cyclone of this tale and can’t wait to find out what happens in the next of this series. Great development of the characters long forgotten and this world full of many adventures. Can’t wait to see what will lay on the other side of this series.
