This series is one all paranormal lovers can enjoy and this book was no different. I have read every book in this series and I can’t wait to read more. This book started off with a bit of suspense that had me enjoying this story from the very beginning and I enjoyed it to the very end. I actually wished this story was longer because I was not ready for it to end. I could have read more of Dagen, Keva, Cconall, Rhea, Arya, Mira and Prima, along with everyone else. Dagen a dragon shifter has found his mate, Keva a human and their first meeting wasn’t the best but he’s determined to do what he has to do to make her his. I loved how protective Dagen was with Keva and with Richard wanting answers for where his brother is, Keva will need all of the protection she can get. This story has a bit of suspense, revenge and is steamy. I can’t wait to read the next story in this series.
Katie Reus has done it again. Sentinel of Darkness (book 8 in the series) is such a captivating and enthralling read. From beginning to end, this book had me hooked. Sexy shifters protecting their mate and finding love. Im not sure how Katie Reus does it but she makes you feel apart of the story, your right there every step of the way. I absolutely love your writing style and your ability to pull me in. Im hooked and will anxiously be waiting to read more!
Dagen is officially my favorite dragon! This quick little nugget of a story reminds me why I enjoy this Darkness world. The characters are funny and flawed and just human. Keva is a bad ass in her own way and meeting Dagen just helped her realize that.
This story is about family, loyalty, and coming into your own. These characters realize that needing someone doesn’t make you weak, it makes you stronger knowing someone has your back. Loved it!
ARC received in exchange for an hones review.
Keva is a human artist hanging out in Conall’s dragon territory under his protection. He saved her from her insane ex, a lone wolf shifter who was trying to kill her for rejecting him. Her property is the last hold out in Conall’s ever expanding real estate ventures and Dagen, new to the clan, does his thing trying to low ball her into selling it. On the way to the meeting they get trapped together in an elevator. She comforts him as he’s uncomfortable in tight spaces from a traumatic experience in his past. He realizes as soon as he meets her she’s his mate and the offer is insulting. He tries to pull it back but she reads it and tells him off. What a start to a romance. Poor Dagen spends most of the story apologizing and proving he can be trusted. She’s his mate and there will be no other, he must win her over no matter what it takes.
This was such a fun adventure, burning across the pages. It literally steams with their chemistry. All my favorite things are in this story and Katie weaves an entertaining and satisfying story. Thanks Katie for the opportunity to review this for you. Can’t wait for the next one.
Keva fled her odious ex, a werewolf. But when he found her, she was saved by…a dragon! Now Keva lives amongst dragonkind, some are aware that she knows of their other nature, others not so much. Her business is booming and she feels safe and content. But when the even nastier brother of her dragon fried ex appears, her happy little bubble bursts!
Dagen is intrigued by Keva but his blood boils every time he thinks of what her ex put her through. Dagen may exude machismo and Alpha-ness but Keva just brings out the inner softie! He is willing to accept whatever Keva is willing or able to give him relationships wise but he lives in hope that he can break down her self imposed barriers.
A short, sharp, jam packed read with plenty of hot, hot loving.
I loved Sentinel Of Darkness! It book 8 in the series but not once did I feel like I jumped into the middle of a series like most stand alone in a series when there’s usually a few times where you have no clue what people are talking about. Absolutely none of that here. Seriously though this was one of the best dragon shifter books I have ever read. Keva was a believable character, and because she was so relatable it was impossible not to love her. Dagen is quite possibly one of the sweetest and sexiest characters ever. If he doesn’t make you swoon, then clearly you have a lump of coal where your heart should be. Together Keva and Dagen were adorable, and the sexual tension was through the roof. But it was the unexpected funny moments that really put the story from good to great. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
Book 8 in the Darkness series, Sentinel of Darkness is a great shifter romance. Dragon shifter Dagen & Keva Sheehan are well developed, well suited characters and along with a novella length storyline this one kept me engrossed throughout. If you have not read this amazing series yet I suggest you get started
Sentinel of Darkness (Darkness #8) by Katie Reus …Katie never disappoints….This is Keva (abused and almost kill by her wolf shifter boyfriend…she is saved by a dragon shifter who is the alpha) Dagen’s ( was held captive by a witch shifter ) story. Thanks to the publisher and #NetGalley for letting me preview this book. There is laughter, drama, violence, steamy dragon sex that gets us to a very HEA. Looking forward to the next DARKNESS book.
Sentinel of Darkness was the first book by Katie Reus that I’ve read and, now I’ve found this author, it won’t be the last one. Keva, the heroine has been badly hurt in the past by her ex-boyfriend, a wolf shifter and it was only the intervention of alpha dragon shifter Conall killing her attacker that saved her life. This has left her reluctant to trust her own judgement when it comes to any man let alone another shifter. She’s happy, living her life quietly under the protection of Conall and his clan in their territory. Dagen, the hero, has also been hurt in the past but he knows instantly that Keva is his mate. I loved that he didn’t try to push the whole mate thing well except for growling at any male who spoke to Keva. He was happy to go at Keva’s pace and be her friend if that was all she wanted. Gradually Keva comes to see him for the gentle giant he is. Don’t get me wrong though, he’s no wimp. When the past rears it’s ugly head and Keva is threatened by rogue wolf shifters it isn’t long before he goes all alpha to protect the woman he loves.
I don’t normally read novellas, preferring full length novels where I feel the story can be expanded on in more depth but I honestly didn’t feel that anything was rushed about this book despite its brevity. Another plus for me is that this was book eight in the series so now I can go and read the other books and see how the other characters mentioned in Sentinel of Darkness got together.
This novella delivers everything it promises: sexy dragon shifters, suspense, romance and sexy times. There are even a few laughs. I’ve devoured every book in the Darkness Series, and Sentinel of Darkness, although a novella, was no different.
I liked Keva. She was finally finding herself after her tragic past. Dagen was hot. Who doesn’t drool after a dragon shifter who knows who is mate is and is determined to protect her with all he’s worth? Oh, and he wants to woo her with pastries! If Keva didn’t want him, I’ll have him! Several other characters in the Darkness Series made cameo appearances. Cue the laughing!
Sentinel of Darkness is the perfect read for when you need to escape every day life, but you haven’t got much time stay away.
Fantastic .
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Sentinel Of Darkness thru Netgallery . This is a fantastic paranormal dragon shifter story . Keva is a human jewelry artist and Dagen is a dragon shifter and Keva’s fated mate . Keva and Dagen have both had terrible pasts to overcome and Keva,’s past comes back
For her . This story is well written and I really enjoyed reading it . I look forward to reading more stories by this author .
The characters in this story are great I especially would love to read more of the two sister in laws Prima And Mira they seem very interesting . If you enjoy paranormal suspense romance and dragons this a fantastic and action packed story I highly recommend reading.
When I read a novella, it’s not always easy to find one that checks all the boxes like a full length book does and this one does. Holy cow, Dagen was amazing!
Dagen’s the type of hero that is big, very tough, but also quiet. Sometimes I think the quiet tells you more about a person than anything else and I seem to be drawn to these types of heroes. Add to that, he was amazing with Keva. He recognized instantly that she was his mate. A mate he never thought he would find. Instead of resisting, he handled her with a care that just made me sigh with happiness.
Keva was also a great heroine. She resisted a bit due to her past, but it wasn’t too much and it was also understandable seeing as she is human and a previous shifter had already used their strength against her. But what I loved most about her was that she paid attention and saw that Dagen was handling her with care that was completely sincere and she adjusted.
Having great main characters is great in itself, but when you also get great side characters and an exciting story, it really puts a book right to the top. I particularly love this clan of dragons, especially since Mira came out of hibernation. She’s going to be one heck of a future main character.
I’m really looking forward to more in this series.
I absolutely loved this book! Keva knows about shapeshifters. How could she not when her ex was a wolf who tried to kill her. Her resilience to that fact is remarkable. I loved how she handles shifter knowledge in general. Dagon has a past himself that haunts him. Meeting Keva takes him out of his comfort zone. He is as vulnerable as a dragon shifter can be. The tale is full of heartwarming scenes as well as heart stopping suspense. Do yourself a favor and read this one. I know you will love it.
Dragon shifter Dagen’s first face to face meeting with Keva, a human, started out great but went downhill fast when Keva learns the lowballed offers for her store are coming from him. Dagen now has to rectify matters since his dragon points out Keva is their mate. Lucky for him, her troubled past gives him the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal.
Yay for Dragons! Katie Reus writes some of the toughest, cutest, protective, and quirkiest ones I’ve found to date and I adore them! They provided humor and frankness to the storyline I got a kick out of. Dagen was cute and growly, but Keva! She was sassy, stubborn and made him work to convince her to give a relationship another whirl. Good for her!
This was a super quick read with dragon fire incineration-just imagine the enemies that could be vanquished!-romantic sizzle, hysterical characters, and many familiar faces to catch up with. Book 8 in the Darkness series, Sentinel can be read as a stand alone, but I recommend reading the other books in the series to fully appreciate all the characters!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
