“One of the best historical novels I’ve had the pleasure to read in years.” – WorkingGirl Reviews.
“The story was captivating, the characters real, the dialogue crisp. I admit to having cried and laughed and even having wanted to murder a character and beat another one within an inch of his life — which is simply a testament to how well written these books are.” – AmericanEditor.

Well written, complex characters and no fairytale ending. I am curious to read the next book to find out what happens next.
I read this whole series. I was so taken in by the characters and the story line. I did not want to read the last book , because then it would be over..This series makes you laugh, cry and be amazed by the courage of people. Read it, but don’t plan on getting anything done till you finish the series.
. Great story. How things have changed, from then to now!
I loved this book so much. I read all 3 in the series. I had to know what happened. It was so intriguing to learn about how people live on another side of the world. Although it was sad at times, the story was believable. I would encourage you to read it.
I was so hung up with this book, I couldn’t sleep. It gripped me to think that it could be so real and I was thankful that I wasn’t the main character. This is the first book in a series of 6. Takes place in the later 1800s.
This series is one of the best I’ve ever read. Hard to put down. I loved it!
The characters drew me in and the story was a glimpse into the past. It was difficult to put it down.
I am currently on the third book in this series. All I can say is wow. This is a trilogy that will truly stick with me for years. I haven’t been able to put these books down. Haunting, tragic, but oh so good. I highly recommend these books.
This is the first in a series of books about some farm families in New Zealand. I’m hooked! I’ll be sad when I have completed the last book.
This is the first of the three-volume Series Promises to Keep. I could not put it down and absolutely had to read the next book of the series. Each one builds upon the last and the characters are absolutely great! Awesome author.
First of a four book series. Family saga through the generations. Always wondering what will happen next.
I had never read anything by this writer before. In book 1 of this series, you come to love the female character. Some how you know that her life isn’t going to turn out as she dreams it will. The story leaves you wanting more and I am anxious to read the next book.
Enjoyed this entire series.
Great piece of historical fiction. I ordered the second book in the series as I loved the first so much.
Outstanding.
I loved these books. My heart went out to some of the characters the whole series is great
I was not sure that I would enjoy this book but I was very wrong. Even the the characters lived in a different time and social circle than I, they were believable and I wa drawn to their plights. This book is well crafted and I look forward to reading the sequels.
Love this series, can’t get enough
Very hard to imagine that some men looked at their wives as “breeders” but also inspirational in how Amy handled each crisis and became stronger. I learned a lot about New Zeland and just how strong we women really are!!!
I intend to read this four book set again. I loved the story and the characters. Heartbreaking and heartwarming.
