“One of the best historical novels I’ve had the pleasure to read in years.” – WorkingGirl Reviews.
“The story was captivating, the characters real, the dialogue crisp. I admit to having cried and laughed and even having wanted to murder a character and beat another one within an inch of his life — which is simply a testament to how well written these books are.” – AmericanEditor.

This book I could read again And again. Pick it up!!
Couldnt put it down. Had to get the rest of the series because I fell in love with the characters and had to see what happened. Felt like I was there watching the story unfold
Good book, felt so bad for the main character, but was a interesting read.
Hooked me from the first few pages. Finished now reading the second book in series.
Great story!
I really enjoyed this book with it’s setting in rural farmlands, and all that entails.
I thought so much of it I bought the whole series and read them one after another.
The innocence of the main character and how one would think in that period of time, is remarkably realistic of a girl’s thoughts. Having experienced a similar situation brought emotions and thoughts to light of a girl caught up in realistic contemplation of moral decisions of what course of action would be best to take. I applaud the author for …
Thought provoking page turner. I could wait to read the next book in the series though these can be read as stand alone books.
This is an amazing book. The characters are so wonderfully fleshed out that you can almost imagine you are there or the characters are there if you only turn around and look at them.
I thought the title was wonderfully unique and it’s not until the end of the book that the reader comes to understand the title of the book. It was so very good a …
This presents a detailed picture of times past as well as finely developed characters. The challenges of rural lifestyle for a city bred woman who moves there after marriage effects the husband’s existing family in many ways.
I read this book a while back and I still talk and recommend the series to fellow readers.
It is a must read.
I read this book a couple of years ago and still remember it well. That in itself is a testimonial on how the book affects you.
Very different, sad, makes you feel as if your present in the story
I read the entire series and couldn’t put them down. The heroine had me from the very beginning right till the end. I will read these books again.
Amy is a hard working lovable country girl too young for romance. When her father goes to Auckland for a few weeks he returns with a young spoiled bride. She makes life miserable for everyone she meets. When her younger brother comes to visit for awhile Anna is smitten with him. He wears her down until she becomes pregnant. He promises to ask both …
Good read, engaging, complex characters and story line
This was a well-written story. I was sad at the end. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Really enjoyed all these books. Great writing to introduce readers to historical times!
I was sorry to see this book end, so I bought the other 3 in the series! I only wish there were more. I really cared about these characters.
