“One of the best historical novels I’ve had the pleasure to read in years.” – WorkingGirl Reviews.
“The story was captivating, the characters real, the dialogue crisp. I admit to having cried and laughed and even having wanted to murder a character and beat another one within an inch of his life — which is simply a testament to how well written these books are.” – AmericanEditor.

The trilogy really moves along, the last book is somewhat predictable.
Well written and sad that women were really treated that way during that time.
Entertaining light read
Àwsome series
An interesting story of cultural mores in the 19th century.
This book kept my interest all the way through. I was so drawn into the lives of the characters and the realistic way this book was written.
This first book in the series is good but the entire series is fantastic.
The book was laid out in a manner that made you laugh and cry in less than a chapter. The author beautifully told the tragic story of the main character and ends the book in a manner that will leave you searching for the sequel.
Became involved with the characters to the point I had to get the whole series just to see what hapoenef.
It was pretty true to the era it was written about. I felt like I was in the story while I was reading it. Very well written and I thouroughly enjoyed it.
I enjoyed all the books in this series & would read more if they were available
It reminded me of just how young a fifteen year old girl is. Some very grown up feelings, especially with so much responsibility as the main character had, but filtered through a young, idealistic mind. I cared about the characters. Wish the ending had been a bit more definitive instead of leading to the next book.
No surprises here, but if you want a fast and romantic read this one is for you.
Hated the ending.
The kind of book which causes you to miss hours of sleep just because you can’t put it down….and the three next books in this series don’t disappoint!
The character were well-developed and the story held my attention. The family were so close a d loving toward one another, but a “new” mother was not something they were e xpecting. I am definitely ready for book #2.
Interesting easy read especially for lovers of historical family drama books
I enjoyed the first through the last of the series. I will be sad to finish the last book.
Gives the reader a look into how like was years ago and how one unfortunate incident changed a young girls life forever. Class differences were very much a part of society. The step mother was typical of a society woman marrying to a man she definitely thought was beneath her but then during those days not uncommon for someone of her “advanced” …
After the trials and angst of an unhappy life cIrcumstance, the end was an unusual and unexpected. We’ll written.
