A Paranormal Women’s Fiction with a bit of class, and a lot of sass, for anyone who feels like age is just a number!
Who says you can’t live the rock and roll life after forty?
You just need a lot more vitamins and a bigger bottle of aspirin.
Valerie Costa was pretty sure she was rocking her forties. She had an amazing coffee shop, two cool teenagers, and a new superpower that gave her insight … gave her insight into any random object she touched.
Okay, she wasn’t thrilled about that last one.
Ever since Val and her two best friends had driven their car off the edge and into Glimmer Lake the year before, Val has struggled with her new abilities. She’s not exactly sure she wants to be psychic, she could live without her newfound glove addiction, and honestly no one wants to know that much about their teenage sons.
But when Val’s ex-husband goes missing, and police show up at her door with questions she can’t answer, Val, Robin, and Monica are going to have to use their sudden psychic abilities to solve a mystery none of them saw coming.
Semi-Psychic Life is a standalone paranormal women’s fiction novel in the Glimmer Lake series by USA Today bestseller, Elizabeth Hunter, author of the Elemental Mysteries and the Irin Chronicles.

Semi-Psychic Life has everything you want in a paranormal tale; superpowers, mystery, adventure. But with the added flair of great life long friendships, a love story, diverse family dynamics, and powerful middle-aged women who do not follow the cliche, you have a tale that’s well written and memorable.
I wish every divorced parent, male or female, who does not have custody of their kids and doesn’t pay much attention to them would read this book. The story is good with a bit of a mystery, and the characters are good.
Elizabeth Hunter addresses the issue of absent parents and the effect they have on their children who love them. Maybe this hit me a bit harder since my ex chose to leave and made only one attempt to visit our daughter and has otherwise completely ignored her even though he had visitation rights. In the first book of this series, also a good story, Ms. Hunter wrote about an older couple working on their marriage when their youngest child leaves for college. It wasn’t the main focus of the book, but a big part of it. I know this is paranormal women’s fiction, but it was nice to see real life issues being worked into these very well done stories. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!
Welp I throughly enjoy book two in this series….no surprise. The second book about these three friends who have their lives turned upside down after a car accident was just as eventful as book one.
The friendship in this story is what I pray and hope for in my future. I mean they are there for each other during some crazy times. It is so great to read about. This is Valerie’s book and her adventures of touching an item and having a vision. So just think on that for a minute. How awkward can that be to suddenly see things that you normally wouldn’t never ever ask to know about. It makes for a page turn!
Semi Psychic Life is book two in The Glimmer Lake series and it is awesome! The series is about a group of three best friends and how they navigate normal life as well as life after an accident that left them with abilities, this is Val’s story. Val is a firecracker, the”cool” mom. She has two wonderful boys and a not so wonderful ex husband. Due to her ex husband’s escapades, Val frequently has to clean up his messes and mend the hurt feelings of her boys. She has had enough until something happens that she can’t ignore. Val and her friends embark on a quest to get the truth using their newfound abilities, in addition to Val considering the possibility of new love.
I loved this book and this series! The writing pulls you in immediately and keeps your interest until the last page. The plot is fun, interesting, and a wonderful twist on real, everyday life. The characters are awesome and completely relatable. I loved everything about this book! You will not regret reading this book or series and if you’re new to Elizabeth Hunter, I guarantee after reading any of her work she will become an automatic one click author for you. I was given the opportunity to read a copy of this book.
Val’s life has changed significantly since she went into the lake with her best friends after the SUV they were in crashed. Since then she can’t touch any items without getting extra information about the owners. She has to wear gloves all the time unless she’s at home to prevent the additional information like the customer at her coffee shop who is having an affair. She especially doesn’t want to know anything more about the handsome local sheriff that she had a sexy night with before her accident. Now? Who is going to want to a relationship with someone who knows things that they shouldn’t…
Sheriff Sully is trying to convince Val to give the idea of them a chance. He wants to add to her life not make it crazier. He just enjoys her and her boys and wants more time with them. Especially more sexy times.
With all of this going on, Val’s Ex-husband has also gone missing. Her boys are frantic that there was foul play and she has no choice but to enlist her best friends and their talents to help her while trying not to get caught or show that something is different with her.
Set in the beautiful Glimmer Lake series this is Book 2 and will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. It follows up with some of the characters we met in the first book Suddenly Pyschic and adds a few more new characters. I know after this one I would love to visit Misfit Coffee and try some of Honey’s famous Bear Claws.
This series just keeps getting better and better. I can’t wait for book 3!
I have read 140 books so far this year and we haven’t even reached May yet. Semi-Psychic Life is by far my favorite of all the books I have read in 2020.
You will need to get read for this book. Block out some time because you won’t want to be disturbed. Grab some popcorn. The excitement the book creates will have you tossing it back constantly. Grab a soda and a straw. You will need to straw to chew on during some super intense moments. So many intense moments.
The main characters are people I would want to know in real life. They go all out for each other. Friendship has stood the test of time, divorce, widowhood, and a crazy accident that took place in book one, Suddenly Psychic.
The plot had me excited, making prediction, throwing me for a loop and blowing my mind. I was given a character to totally dislike and make me feel better about other people. I was given a villain that a wanted to see put in his place. For the longest time I didn’t think I would get my wish. I wanted to scream. So, Elizabeth Hunter, thank you for sending me on a wonder thrill ride without having to leaving my comfy recliner.
I love everything about this series! The small town setting, the close-knit friendships, the dialogue and the psychic powers. In book #2, we get acquainted with Val. Val is a take charge woman who runs her own business. She really doesn’t have time for anything extra, including letting herself relax, let alone deal with the shenanigans of her ex. She is fiercely protective of her kids, so when her ex goes missing she sets out to solve his disappearance for the sake of her boys. With the help of her two besties, Robin and Monika, along with hunky sheriff Sully they set out to solve the disappearance of Josh and find a few surprises along the way. A fantastic story that I finished in less than one day!
I’m enjoying this series. The characters are adults who find that they have each developed psychic ability after a near death accident which they were all involved. This book involves Val. All she has to do is touch an object to get feelings. She wears gloves to avoid touching things. Val has two teenage sons and an ex husband! He tends to get himself in trouble. And he does. No spoilers from me.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and was totally engrossed from start to finish. The writing was expertly done, because it was written by a storyteller who weaves words together so well, you feel like an unwritten character in the book.
This is Val’s story, and it’s filled with best friends, a possible new beau, family, a coffee shop (apparently with ‘to die for’ bear claws), oh! and a really good mystery. A mystery that will keep you intrigued and turning the page, and make you forget you actually have a life outside of the book.
The dialogue is engaging, the characters are real, the Glimmer Lake community believable, and the power of friendship. I thought the first book was good, this one is even better. I can’t wait for Monica’s book… West is looking like he may have a larger part in her book….
Highly recommend….
I loved Val’s story! She’s so down-to-earth and funny. Great writing.
This is my second series I’ve read from Hunter, and though the first book was lackluster in anything for me really, this book is SOOO much better than the first! Val is spunky, unique, and swears a lot which speaks to me directly. I’m not a midlife wannabe punk rocker, but her personality is so much better than Robin’s. From the beginning, the stage is set for something big to happen, and the sense of urgency is finally here in this series.
I love how Val also doesn’t give in to Sully right away. She stays true to her no-nonsense character, and carries the weight of all the responsibilities for everyone in her family which resonated very strongly with me as a stepmother. Even when things are messed up, and not your fault, you still carry the bourdon of trying to fix it and make it better. Her best friends finally make sense as characters and are enjoyable to read about from her perspective. I love how Mark is brought into the paranormal world with the truth about what happened to the women, and eventually Sully is too. I typically don’t enjoy the second book in a three book series, but really loved this one. It finally turned into a page-turner and I stayed up all hours of the night to finish it. Instead of a book hangover, I’m just going to jump right into the third and final book in the series and hope it keeps the momentum going to the very end.
Being responsible sucks
Val is a take no prisoners kinda gal and she doesn’t put up with her ex’s flightiness. There’s actually a real bad guy in this one and the whole gang comes together to thwart him. It looks like there’s a happy ending for more than one person this time out.
I enjoyed book 2 in the Glimmer Lake trilogy- Val’s devotion to her boys is such as mom way of life.
The setting of the lake and as Val and Sully go deep into the woods for a thrilling climax kept the pages turning.
Looking forward to reading book 2 and yes it’s already on my kindle.
Valerie (Val) Costa always wanted a rock and roll life, and even though she’s now settled in Glimmer Lake, she thinks she’s rocking her forties. A single mom of two teen boys and owner of a popular coffee shop, Val has a busy life. She also has a new gift that came after she and her two best friends survived a deadly car accident the year before. She has the gift of psychometry although she doesn’t particularly want it. However, when her ex-husband goes missing with no one looking for him, she and her friends start their own investigation. And if it means using her new ability to make her boys happy, she will. But someone doesn’t want the man found.
I enjoyed this book immensely. I loved seeing the progress Val made as deals with everything in her life and comes to terms with it. The book was well-written with well-rounded characters, some of whom you’ll like and others you won’t. I was caught up in the story from beginning to end. It’s full of action but there are also places that will cause teary eyes or make you laugh out loud. I can hardly wait for the next book. I highly recommend this book although I do suggest you read the first one before reading this one.
This is a sequel to Suddenly Psychic and is just as good if not better. Great storyline. Did not want to put the book down, had to make myself go to sleep after 3am, didn’t want to stop reading!!! I can’t wait for the next book to come out. These were my first 2 books by Elizabeth, but I follow her now and see she has a ton of books out. I think I have found a new author to read. Can’t wait to check out some of her other stuff also!
Another great story in the paranormal women’s fiction genre! These women, who have had special powers for about a year now, embrace life and all the changes women go through as they age. They just keep getting better in all things. Strong women, strong lovers, strong mothers! What more can you want. This is Val’s story and how she comes to realize she is more than a business owner and mother and she finally starts to enjoy her life but she has a mystery involving her ex husband to solve first.
This fab trio of besties are the epitome of what having best friends means. Friends are the sisters we get to choose and Val, Rachel, and Monica are just that. I love this series and these ladies bring the laughs with their quick wit and banter. These women were ready take on a bad guy as long as they got a bear claw at the end of the day. Like I said, my kind of people. I’m looking forward to Monica’s story next!
I love these three women and their incredible journey through a near death experience that left them with powers they have no idea what to do with. For Val they are especially hard. Even with medication she always needs gloves on and they debilitating head aches makes life hard. It only gets harder when she finds out something strange is going on with her ex husband. If only she could find him and ask him it would make things easier. But that is not Josh’s style. Sully won’t take no for an answer and her and her friends only find more questions as they slowly dig into Josh and his troubled life. Val may need all the help she can get and trust that her loved ones will have her back when things escalate even more
Love the ladies of Glimmer Lake! Can’t imagine having to not only raise two awesome boys, run a business and deal with a power you never wanted. But now her adolescent ex husband has gone missing and she’s going to have to put her big girl panties on and ask for help. Then throw in a man she’s been avoiding because she has no time .. fate is a funny thing and you can only run but so far.
I didn’t know how Val was going to work into a book. I now know she was great. This book was all kinds of good. I felt she is going to always have a little more to worry about then the others. I hope one day she will have enough control over everything to be happy and use the power for her. I was very pleased with how the book wrapped up. It had everything I needed for closer. I can’t wait to see how the next book goes. I think each one of them are going to be special. This is part of the PWF Powerful woman’s fiction book club. It is a book about a woman over 40 still being able to kick butt.
