Psychic and paranormal PI Harper Hall isn’t that surprised when her business partner skips town. Really, she can’t help but feel it’s her own fault for trusting a guy named Romeo in the first place. But if Harper wants to consult for the police on a high profile case, she’ll need a new partner– preferably one with some supernatural skills of his own. Enter Noah Riddick, a slayer left jobless by … jobless by the legalization of vampirism.
Riddick’s dark secrets and shady past have forced him into exile from human society–an exile he was completely comfortable with until gorgeous and exasperating Harper waltzed into his life. Now, all too aware of how…unlifelike his life has truly been, he agrees to partner with her (as if saying no to Harper Hall was ever really an option).
Fighting vampires, making immortal enemies, engaging in semi-sadistic interrogation techniques, staging daring rescues…it’s all in a day’s work for this paranormal odd couple. But falling in love? Well…that’s a little trickier. Even for the Semi-Charmed Harper Hall.

I love this entire series!
Isabel Jordan is terrific. I will read any book she writes. If you have not read any of her books you are in for a treat!
The idea of a psychic and paranormal private investigator is what drew me to this story. It was the witty dialogue however that truly held my attention from the start. Snark and sarcasm will keep me entertained every time! I really enjoyed the banter between the main characters. Harper’s character was sassy, witty, and determined while Riddick’s character was brooding, tortured, and self-deprecating. The juxtaposition between these characters was just right! I adored this story!
Harper had been in a working partnership with a slayer named Romeo. That is until he skipped town leaving her with a business that she could not run alone. Not to mention bills that were behind in payments. It was not that Harper was not capable of running the PI firm on her own, it was that in this world seers were not taken seriously unless they had a slayer to accompany them. Since Harper was a seer and her ex-partner the slayer she was left in a bind. Fortunately, Harper ended up doing a favor for Noah Riddick, an infamous slayer, and she decided that he owed her one in return. She needed a slayer and he was going to fill the position whether he wanted to or not.
Riddick was used to being a loner, just living for the hunt. With vampirism being legal he was no longer able to kill vampires which conflicted with his calling as a natural-born slayer. He had to become content with hunting down vampire offenders and handing them over to the police to be processed. As far as he was concerned his life was as it needed to be.
That was until his path crossed with Harper Hall. She was unlike anyone he had met before and he wanted as far away from her as possible! When approached about partnering up for a job he adamantly refused, initially. There was something though about Harper that had him agreeing to help her. The saucy little minx! After spending time with her Riddick finds himself realizing that he wants more out of life and that makes him very uncomfortable. He also had no idea that this temporary not-partnership was going to be a wild ride that draws the attention of a very dangerous vampire whose obsession will put Harper in grave danger.
As I said I adored this story. The private investigator angle is not the focus of this story though. The talents that both characters possess are utilized but not used abundantly throughout this story. This is a paranormal romance with a definite heat factor that leads to some sexy times between these two characters. It is about relationships, love, and putting it all out there. The PI and super abilities are a pleasant addition to a sweet love story. It is a great read! It had me laughing out loud in several parts and I could not stop reading it!! This is a book that I highly recommend and a series that I can’t wait continue with!!
This review is based on a complimentary book I received from Author, Isabel Jordan. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.
Loved this book! I can’t wait to get the rest of the Semi… books! Very entertaining.
There may have been a couple of plot holes, but in spite of that, I just loved this story. I found myself laughing out loud in several places and really enjoying Harper Hall, the main character. I liked the author’s sense of humor well enough that I can see myself reading this one again. I see that there are several books (five, I think) in this series and can’t believe I’m so late to this party. Already looking for the next book. Note, this book has a steamy scene or two, so isn’t for young readers.
I loved all 5 books in the Harper Hall series. Great characters! I feel like I know them all and love every one of them.
