My people fell. My city burned. And I was sold.Born a noble, I never expected to be bound, chained and stuck in a cage.Yet here I am, at the mercy of a common mercenary.I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.I suppose it doesn’t matter. No one cares how a slave feels.Though there is something strange about this man that draws me to him.In the wake of losing everything, could I have possibly found … everything, could I have possibly found something better?

I really enjoyed this short story. Loren is resilient and finds that belonging to Brendan has its perks. Brendan’s focus has been saving his family but the snarky slave he bought has gotten under his skin. I loved the ending.
Audiobook: good narration
Brendan is passing through a small town on his way home when he buys jewels and a slave to help him carry things. That night the slave Lorne tries to take the jewels and attempts to cut Brendan but is scared when Brendan wakes up and talks. After Lorne’s punishment they leave and start walking again. The next time they stop they are ambushed by some robbers and Brendan is left for dead. When Brendan wakes up he goes after what is his to get it back. Will Brendan get what was his? What will happen to Lorne?

This is book one in the Love Unleashed series. This is Brandon and Lorne’s story. One man is a soldier returning home with some extra coin in his pocket. The other man is now a slave in a cage. One purchase the other and the story begins. Wow, what a well written, steamy story that is fast paced but not short on the story details that makes it feel real. I cannot wait to read more of this series. Enjoy!

A couple of points to note about this story:
1. It is really short (like read in ~30 minutes short)
2. This is actual Master/Slave relationship (not the BDSM style, actually buying another person)
I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about Lorne and Brendan, but I ended up actually rather liking the story. I think by the end they do have a connection (not sure I’d really call it romance, though they do seem to care about each other). I wouldn’t have minded seeing this expanded a bit more, but I think for the length of the story it does a good job.
This was a good book but I would have liked it if it had been longer. The characters were likable and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly with chemistry from the start.

Brendon is a conquering warrior shepherd that is out to bring home enough spoils of war to buy back his enslaved sister and family farm. While at a market he makes a split decision to purchase slave Lorne. Love blossoms on their long journey home. Little does his home town ruler knows that Brendan protects what’s his.

Brendan is returning from war and buys Lorne as his slave. Lorne is a Prince in hiding. Fast-paced read with loads of drama, and lots of heat. I really liked it.
Book one of the Love Unleashed series a well written short story that kept me turning pages. I want to read the next book.
After reading this book I had to take a little time to compose myself and get my thoughts clear in my head before I put them in a review.
Wow this book was amazingly written. Once I started I couldn’t put it down till I was finished. This book has twists and turns you don’t know what’s happening. will they all get there happily ever after or will it all go wrong. To find out what happens go buy the book. You won’t be disappointed I wasn’t.

Brendan returns from war and impulsive buys a young man, Lorne as a slave. It seems that Lorne is a Prince who escaped with his life had not idea where his family went. There was some adventure on the way to Brendan’s farm but the story is so short that you don’t really get a sense of a backstory. I would have liked a longer storyline. So this was MUCH shorter than I was expecting when I got this series as an ARC. Because it is so short, there really isn’t any room for development. From the title, I expected that the POV would be from the person who was actually seized by a mercenary; instead, the whole story is told from the mercenary’s POV.
One thing that I did like about this story is that Lorne didn’t immediately have an attraction to his new master, but that it arose from a shared danger.

This short story was a very enjoyable read with the good storyline and well defined characters that kept my interest until the turn of the very last page!
This is more of a historical MM romance as there are slaves and masters. Brendan purchases Lorne and soon discovers he wants him for more than just to carry his belongings. Some things were confusing as it was never explained but for a short story, it’s a good story. I do like that it’s just as normal to have a MF relationship as there is a MM.

This is a well written short story with strong characters and an interesting story line. The author brings action and romance and weaves an adventurous story with tons of steam. It moves quickly and smoothly and is a great read.

This story was very unexpected and surprisingly I enjoyed it. I never read a book by the author and decided to give this one a try. Just by the book details/summary/cover I thought it was going to be real brutal, violent and intense. Now it had its violent moments but surprisingly it was more about two people (one was owner and other was slave), traveling and getting to know each other. There was some intimate times between the two main characters and I was little bothered by the fact that Brendan kept referring to Lorne as boy…never really knew how old Lorne really is but I just assumed he was a young man…maybe 19 or 20. The ending was nice and got me interested in reading more in the series.

This story is definitely not like other Kayci Morgan books that I’ve read in the past, and I enjoyed reading this story. I was able to finish this book really quick, and I loved the fast pace of the story. There are definitely some dark elements to this story, and some of the content may be a trigger warning, so use caution. The dynamic between the royal-turned-slave Lorne and Brendan was hilarious, and I loved the back and forth banter between them both. I love this fictional world that Kayci created and I loved getting lost in the story.
