A short yet captivating novella about a mercenary and the slave he decides to buy veggie heading back home. MS. Morgan did a great job in drawing us into the plot right from the beginning with just enough suspense, dreams, action and steam to make this novella a 5-star read

This is the 1st book I’ve read written Kayci Morgan; she has done a great job at writing a good short story; I will definitely be reading more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the chemistry between the characters.

This may have been a short story but the impact was definitely strong. The trigger warning still didn’t prepare me for the beginning and seeing the captives in their cages. Though it was difficult it made the relationship between the heroes more precious. Brendan was a great character. Lorne was easy to love especially with his cheekiness. The chemistry was strong which added a lot of strength to the story. The conclusion was powerful as it brought an end to the journey Brendan set out on and promoted his ability to make a difference which was his goal.
