Love this story! Rachelle is a reporter that is secretly investigating the murder of Captain Jameson, NYPD. When she gets too close to the truth, she becomes a target. Enter Carter Jameson, along with his K9 partner, Frost, to protect her. As they work together to uncover the truth of who is seeking to kill Rachelle, they become close. Suspenseful, lots of action, great ending. Love the dog, wish I had one just like him. Highly recommend this book.

Incredible suspense story filled with twists, turns, and danger. I fell in love with wonderful characters, especially Frosty! The story kept me turning pages until the end.
“She breathed in, preparing to scream, and gagged. Her eyes watered. Her surroundings grew dim while her oxygen supply depleted, leaving her head woozy. Her mind screamed, Dear Lord, help me.”

This is book 6 in the True Blue K-9 Unit series. I read this out of order after finishing just the first 3 beforehand. This book was given to me by the author but the review was not required. The opinions are my own.
This book was great. I was glad to have read at least the first book of the series beforehand so I understood the overall mysteries about Jordan and Snapper. However, the book is so well written that I think I would have enjoyed it just as much if I hadn’t. There is one point where what happens in an earlier book is mentioned. Although I basically now know some things about that book, I still want to read the entire series at some point.
I enjoyed how Terri Reed developed the characters and their backstories. I wish I knew more about Rachelle’s family but it was because I truly liked the characters not because I needed more background. Terri Reed’s writing is so descriptive that I can imagine what the characters, events, and settings looked like. Carter’s daughter Ellie was a delight. Frosty was a very brave K-9. I think this is my favorite book of the series so far.

I really enjoy stories about law enforcement families and the Jameson family has had a lot of trials. However, they are resiliant and continue to protect the people of NYC. I particularly like stories about K-9 officers and that’s what Carter Jameson is. The family is leery of reporters and with good reason. Carter’s brother was murdered recently and reporters hounded the family, saying it was a suicide until other facts came out, confirming it was a murder. So, when Carter meets Rachelle Clark, who is a reporter, he doesn’t really like her. But, because she is secretly investigating his brother’s murde, she has a target on her back and soon, Carter sees that he has to protect her. I liked Carter’s multi-generational law enforcement family, including his cute daughter! I also like Rachelle’s character because she wasn’t close to her family and really longed for a close family like Carter’s. This was a very good story and a great part of this series.
