Isla Young grew up in foster care and found herself in an abusive relationship with Cole Montgomery, a man with a powerful family. Yet when Isla finally gets up the courage to leave things don’t go as planned but she gets away with a little help.
Levi Grady is done with bad relationships and bad office workers but when Constance recommends Isla for his vacant bookkeeper job he decides to hire her, knowing she is on the run from someone.
Both Levi and Isla are recovering from bad relationships, but will they find solace in each other through it all? Will Levi and Isla discover that the past can come back at any time to disrupt the present?
This was such a great book and I enjoyed it from start to finish.
I thought Isla was a great character and I believed that she truly did the right thing with Cole and then getting help from Smitty. I really liked that Smitty helped her and gave her solid advice on what to do. I loved how Isla felt at home in Evergreen but I was worried that it was a smaller town than what she should have been in.
Levi was such a good character and I loved that he never pushed Isla for her story but made her feel safe and secure and helped her with everything she needed. He worked hard with his job but just couldn’t do it all.
I loved when Isla opened up to Levi about everything and how he reacted. He had his own drama with Pippa who was hell-bent on making trouble for Isla.
The twists and turns were gripping and intense and I wondered if I was right about some of the stuff and I was! The end was so intense and I loved how it all played out!
The very end was so funny with both on bed rest and I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us next!- By Rebecca
This book for me from chapter one! Not only an I a child of domestic violence but I’m also a survivor. It was difficult to read at times but having that amazing ending was well worth it!
Fantastic book! There is so much more to the story than the description – it is mind blowing. Loved this story. Seeking Sanctuary has so much to offer, I couldn’t put it down. Levi Grady is my one of my favorite book boyfriends. Amazing man and Isla is one strong woman. They make a perfect pair. I laughed, I cried, I cheered, I was scared. It gave all the feels. Can’t wait to get my hands on book 2!!
It’s a story of abuse, escape and recovery. She led a terrible and lonely life in the Social Services System; she managed to get educated and once she had the job she loved, she thought the new romance was going to be perfect. It wasn’t! Isla became the victim. I was so proud of her in this book as in reality, abused victims rarely realize they can get away and get help. I’m also proud of Levi, the man who took her in and kept her safe. Thanks for a great story-line and I appreciate the forewarning that there is some harsh language. Decent read
Enjoyed this one though it dealt with some tough subject matter. I like how Isla grew stronger as the book progressed. Levi was an amazing hero and I was glad to see these two get their HEA.
This is a very interesting story which is initiated by the heroine doing her best to escape domestic abuse. The author’s writing definitely makes you feel the heroine’s emotions and her difficulty in trusting anyone. These are the most real pieces of the book. And it’s not that the love story didn’t feel real, but I wish there was a bit more substance to it. I wanted “more” while I was reading the story – since I am not a writer I’m not sure what exactly the “more” is, but I just felt a little short changed. That being said, I am waiting for the next book in the series. I liked this book and author well enough to keep reading her.
Loved this book, would recommend it.
This was a beautiful, heartwarming story! I absolutely
loved every minute of it!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Just from the introduction, I knew that this was going to be an emotional story and while reading, I couldn’t help but think how brave and strong Anderson is to share such incredibly personal pieces of herself with us.
From the very beginning I was hooked. Anderson has a way of drawing you in, of allowing you to lose yourself in her words. I had tears in my eyes before I even got to the first chapter.
One of the things I love most about Anderson’s stories is that she has created some of the toughest female characters I’ve ever read. Isla fits right in with that group; incredibly strong, yet she has a vulnerability to her and a need to find a place to belong. Then we have Levi…protective, charming, and sweet. I absolutely loved them both but together, they were perfect! I love how her characters always bring out the best in one another.
In addition to the fantastic characters, this was an emotional and touching story. Suspense and mystery are woven throughout adding to the excitement. And then there’s the romance. The instant attraction, the way things developed, and the connection between these two was undeniable. I loved all of it and I’m excited that this is the beginning of a series. I can’t wait to see who the next book will be about.
I loved Isla. She’s a fighter. A woman both brave and strong. She is a survivor. Her story is very sad and ugly at times but it was also beautiful and full of love and hope.
Seeking Sanctuary was definitely a very emotional book. I had to keep my tissue box close while reading this one.
I would absolutely recommend reading this one.
FEEL THE NEED FOR SPEED!!!
Talk about going down a beaten path. This is one exciting, smooth flowing read that hits home harder than you’d think. No holds barred in this baby. You get all the action, drama and bone chilling suspense that will definitely keep you on your toes. The characters are intriguing, complex and realistic. Their personalities played off one another in a perfect balance that’s as awe inspiring as the strenght and depth of the characters. The scenes are so vividly detailed and descriptive that it paints a very believable backdrop. Twists and turns abound as well as danger and suspense that keep your total focus in this page turning tale. Annie did a remarkable job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Great job Annie, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
Wow! I loved this book! It’s a well written emotional story. It captured me from the beginning. Filled with enough drama, steam, and suspense to keep the pages turning. I can’t wait to read more! I highly recommend it. received an ARC for an honest review.
This is an intense and powerful book. It deals with the very painful subject of domestic violence, so if this is this is too dark of a subject or it is a trigger for you, you may want to skip this book. Levi and Isla are complex and likable characters. The sweet emotions they bring out in each other are truly beautiful. Levi is such a great guy. He is just so perfect for Isla and heaven knows after all she has suffered, she deserves him. Isla, well she is gonna break your heart. Having suffered more pain and heartbreak than any one woman should, all she wants is to move on and start over. Love is not what either of these characters is looking for but it is exactly what they need and find. A book with such an abundance of drama, sharp emotions, danger, romance and passion, you will be swept up into this story. An amazing read!
Seeking Sanctuary is definitely a must read. This swoon worthy love story will have you hooked from the very beginning. Levi will definitely be your next book boyfriend!! Plus beautiful COVER
Swoon-worthy Levi, hell the whole town, steps in when Isla shows up to town battered and bruised. He has the perfect job for her- his accountant for his garage. But Isla is keeping a big secret from town especially Levi, before she left two little pink lines showed up on the test she took. Will the horrors from her past show up and wreck her future or will a new threat keep Isla from being happy?
Isla has had anything but an easy life and when Cole pushes her to far everything spirals out of control and she is on the run with no idea where she will end up. While doing a quick stop at a Diner while she recuperates some more she is faced with something she has rarely known… kindness but is it enough to make her stay and finally let others into her life. This is one hell of a ride with such a range of emotions piled into one book where you have people you can’t help but love and others you loath or distrust and the way the characters slowly reveal their lives and you learn why they are like the way they are in the town makes you connect more so with them. Even though Isla and Levi are the main characters where we see then meet and fall for each other and I love how Isla still has some sass and fire in her even after everything, Levi not being able to help but feel protective of her you also have Constance oh bless her heart I wanted to hug her, Orin who had me perplexed for ages and Smitty you sly bugger you!
This is my honest and unbias opinion of the story. This is a very emotional story that has very stron characters and a very well written story. I loved reading this book and can’t wait to read more from Annie Anderson in the future.
Amazing story. A romance with some heat, some danger, a bit of a snarky woman who is much stronger than she thinks. A hot alpha blue collar guy with over-protective instincts he works hard to restrain.
Isla plans to escape her abusive boyfriend. The new pregnancy just solidifies her plans. Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned. When she does escape she has more problems than even she had known. A pit stop–okay a need to fill her stomach–brings her to a small town with the type of people she didn’t know existed. Instead of judging her for the bruises and cuts all too new, they want to know if the man who did it has been taken care of. Little do they know.
A meal. A friendly waitress/owner. A job reference. A run-in (literally) with a tall, gorgeous man whose touch is unlike she’s used to. Until she sees the anger on his face. It’s not directed at her, just like the rest of the people she’s met they are concerned about her. Wow. When has that ever happened to her? Never.
The pit stop becomes a home, at least for a while. The job is with the hunk, and he has more than an employee in mind with her. Levi melds himself into her life. Could she possibly have found the real thing? Or will danger end her chance at a new life? End even her life? Who?
The story is touching and fast-paced. The characters impossible not to love. A strong recommendation from me.
