A great story full of Romany history. When a kindhearted young widow saves a gypsy man, her life will change dramatically as will his. Among their different lifestyles and her abusive past, she opens her heart as he swesrs to protect her from enemies. But she wonders if her gypsy will ever embrace his English roots for her.
Can their love exist in different worlds?
Luca Boldor, abandoned and unacknowledged by his English father as a child, is a Roma lord who has fought to protect and feed his aging tribe since he was fifteen. A battle with Marko, a rival lord, and his tribesmen has left him injured and near death, far from his encampment and nearly unconscious on the doorstep of the late Earl of Orwell’s estate. Lady Patience Blakwell, the young dowager duchess, is too compassionate to leave a man to die at her door, even a Gypsy. She tends his wounds, cleaning and stitching, then watching by his bedside through the night never realizing that Luca’s presence places her household in danger from Marko who is intent on finding and killing him.
Her stepson, Crispin, has the same cruel and controlling nature as his father. This, plus rumors he hears of a Gypsy man visiting the manor from servants loyal to him, make him accuse Patience of orchestrating his father’s death. In control of the finances of the estate and the servants, Crispin intends to deliver Patience to the constables for murder if she will not bend to his will. Luca is determined to protect her from her enemies but his feelings are stronger than gratitude for saving his life and rival his feelings for his tribe.
Josie Riviera has created another beautiful romance spanning the Romani culture and the world of English nobility. Luca and Patience must overcome their tragic pasts to have a future together. I liked Patience’s inner strength and determination in every situation at a time in history where oppression was women’s constant companion. This was a very enjoyable book and I look forward to reading other books in the Seeking series.
A unique and very well written inspirational romance overcoming cultural differences
The head of a gypsy tribe and a widowed English countess worlds collide in this unique story. I haven’t read a story like this and was captivated from page one. The two main characters are so different from each other yet so alike. Wonderful layers to the characters and to the story. Very well written. I liked the characters. I really felt the emotions of the characters. Enjoyed learning about the gypsy life which was thoroughly researched. This sweet, Christian romance will warm your heart and leave you so happy you had the experience of reading it.
This was great read!! Great Gypsy hero, and with a few twists!!
In the 1813 England country, Luca Boldor is the
leader in the head of the Roma gypsy tribe. He
gets injured and is on the run from a rival tribe.
Ending up in a disabled state, Luca finds himself
on the doorstep of an English person’s home. He
hates the English but needs help to survive.
Lady Patience Blakwell is a widow of a cruel man.
Her stepson has accused her of murdering his
father and is being extremely cruel to her. She
learns that the injured man was found on the
doorstep and brings him in to be healed.
There is an undeniable attraction between the
two.
Deep dark secrets, murder, deceit, intrigue,
drama, suspense, fortitude and loyalty combine
with forgiveness, trust and love.
The characters are dynamic and well penned.
The settings are deftly described making the
reader feel as if they are right there with the
various characters.

Seeking Patience by Josie Riveira
Starts with praise from others and reviews.
Starts in England 1813 Luca was just looking for food for his tribe….her life goal is to help others and serve God.
His body is carried into her house and she tends to him. He appears to be sickly, can’t walk and is a gypsy.
He has nightmares since he was 3 on a fox hunt with his father….
Love that there is talk of sewing, afghans as I use my hands also. Wonder what patterns were like then?
She draws on God to help protect Luca from Marco the black enemy by quoting Bible verses.
Love gift he made her for protecting and healing him…Luca remembers things about his English father when he was three and he was told he was dead…
As the story goes on we find out why Luca is in the area and why Patience has to be very careful as some servants report back to Crispin her stepson who wants it all-who can take all her dwellings and lands away from her. Love how this all comes together, surprising!
I received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
This book is very intense and kept me on the edge throughout. I did not want to put it down. The diversity of the characters added layers of heartaches, heartbreaks and heart-rending suspense. Misunderstandings from the past cloud the present, but lead to an astonishing future. The characters are well written, from the amazing hero and heroine, Luca and Patience, to the lovable supporting characters, Amelia and Penham, and the heart stoppingly evil Crispin and Marko. Love conquers all, and God’s grace and redemptive love overcomes all social boundaries.
Another Josie Riviera book kept me up way too late! A fascinating story of love, romance, rejection and forgiveness. The gypsy and the countess were both wounded souls who could save each other. This story reflects a great deal of research on the author’s part. Ms. Riviera has written a fascinating story. I was amazed at how well she resolved all points in the story. I highly recommend this book.
