At only fourteen, Charity Weston ran away from her abusive father and lived with gypsies. I wouldn’t have her courage especially not knowing if the gypsies would be welcoming and any less cruel than her family. She left behind her best friend Daniel Hayward, who never forgot her. Told she had died, he thought he would never see her again until he catches her picking blueberries while he’s in a carriage with his judgmental sister on the way to stay with Valentina and James from Seeking Fortune to look at property in Wales. Charity fears he was sent by her father to bring her back. But he was really sent there to love her and find his place in Wales. It was cool to read about the gypsy customs especially the broom for marriage. This was a clean second chance best friend’s historical romance.
Seeking Charity is another wonderful romance from Josie Riviera. Imagine a father so abusive that fleeing and living with gypsies was a better life. The only one Charity hated to leave was her friend Daniel. Several years later, Daniel and his sister visit friends in Wales. The gypsies are camped at this estate. Daniel is surprised to discover Charity as he had been told she died. This reunion leads to a lasting love. This is a fast paced and very engaging story. I highly recommend it. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sweet historical romance with heartaches from the past and heartwarming reunions. Charity ran away from her abusive father at a young age and joined a Gypsy tribe. They took her in and gave her the family she needed. Go forward several years and the best friend of her youth, travels to Wales, sees her and cannot believe it. He was told she was dead. Their reunion and time spent together brought back the joys of their youth and bonded them together with a love to last a lifetime. Wonderful read!
My mom used to tell me she was going to sell me to the gypsies. Charity wasn’t sold to them but the did help her flee her abusive father. When her friend Daniel sees her after thinking she has been dead he wants to come back to her old life with him since he loves her. Charity feels torn and will have to decide between Daniel who she is coming to love and her gypsy life.
Seeking Charity is a delightful historical romance set in a remote part of Wales. Charity, who was abused by her father, ran off as a young teen and joined a band of Romany Gypsies to escape her harsh life. The hardest person to leave behind was Daniel, her slightly older friend.
A former member of the Gypsies is married to a wealthy landowner in Wales and allows them to camp on their property. Daniel and his sister come to visit, and he is surprised to recognize Charity among them. After all, the last thing he heard is that Charity was dead. He is still attracted to her, but can they rekindle old feelings? Is she able to trust that he will not tell her father where she is? He draws on his faith to help renew their relationship and help her restore her Christian beliefs. The reader knows from the outset that this is a romance, so should expect the happy ending.
As always, Ms. Rivera has done her homework and is able to incorporate facts about Gypsy life that many of her readers do not already know. This is a very short novella, so it moves at a fast pace. Still, it left me feeling as if I knew enough about the main characters to feel I knew them and also be comfortable with the quick progression of the story.
I was able to obtain a free advance copy of the e-book. My review is fully voluntary, and any opinion expressed is my own.
An emotional touching story of the heart that brings two old friends back together after several years.
Charity had fled her home as a teenager and was able to join a band of gypsies. Years later, the band was in Wales and it made her think of her life growing up in England. She thought of her friend Daniel and how when she left at 14 he had been 18.
The tribe was camped on the grounds of a former gypsy who was now a proper lady married to the gentry. She was encouraged to meet her and spend time the next day.
But who was she to meet again but Daniel! He had thought her dead all these years and could not believe it was really Charity!
This is a story of friends reunited, the test of faith and trust while bringing together two people who seemed to have such barriers between them. It will be a difficult journey but anything is possible with faith of God to watch over. Lovely
I really loved this story. It’s a story about redemption and finding one’s true love yet again. Our hero and heroine were friends as children and did everything together. Also riding their horses and racing each other when they lived in England. But unfortunately, our heroine leave home because of her abusive father and she had no mother as she died in childbirth for her only child.
They find each other again as her Gypsy caravan she joined 6 years before has stopped to spend time near the grounds of friends and the gentleman’s wife used to be a Gypsy herself.
When our hero arrives to visit the same family with his sister, he notices a girl in the caravan that looks like his lost friend whom he loved dearly. They were told when she left that she died. But he really feels this is her.
They meet once again and spend time together on the estate again riding and racing and picnicking. They both realize at some point they love each other and have for a very long time. But of course, obstacles stand in the way and he loses her once again.
I highly recommend this regency romance and the rest of the series, two more books in a boxed set. It is very wonderfully composed story with wonderful characters that will melt your heart along with at least one rather a snob.
This is one to get as is the boxed set. Ms. Riviera really is a romantic at heart and writes Christian inspirational stories and other inspirational stories but most have some scripture in them.
(I received this ARC is an exchange for my own, honest review.)
Seeking Charity by Josie Riviera
I absolutely loved this regency Roman Gypsy romance! Charity’s character touched my heart. And her friend Daniel’s sweetness and sincerity was heartwarming! Charity runs away from an abusive father when she turns 14. Her fathers claims she’s dead. After 6 years, Daniele finds her again with the Roman gypsy tribe she joined, camping in Wales, where he and his sister were visiting. They are reunited and realize their love for one another! And Charity finally feels safe, loved, protected. I also really like the faith element of this story!
This was a great read!
Charity had a rough childhood. Even though the author doesn’t go into explicit detail, that part was difficult for me to read. Throughout her trials, she clings to her Heavenly Father’s love for her. A wonderful inspirational book I will be reading over and over again.
I received an arc of this book. My opinions are my own.
A well crafted and researched historical romance novella with a Wales setting and exploring gypsy customs in comparison to the genteel society of the time. Charity Weston runs away from her abusive father and finds the Romany gypsies less cruel and more accepting. Lies separate her from her friend Daniel Hayward. In this fast paced novella will they have a second chance at love?
