My review:
Genre: Suspense, Christian Fiction, Contemporary.
My Rating: 5 stars.
My Recommendation: 13 up because of slight violence.
My Favorite character/s: Asher is awesome! I loved how he was always cool, and reeeeeeeally want to read his story!!! But anyway, he’s funny and made me laugh many times. I enjoyed where he and other characters talked, prayed, and saved each other!?!
My Verse for Asher is 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. (King James Version.)
The other characters are fantastic too, but I don’t want to give anything away!
My Thoughts: This book is the best suspense I have ever read! (Seriously!) And this book had better spiritual content than most books I read, which was awesome!
I like being able to feel the faith of the characters and their author, and not just read words that implied faith in God. I felt for the characters more because of the spiritual content that Angela wove into her story, and I plan on checking out her other book!
(Duh, I should have already done this but… No good excuses.)
Parts of the story were sad, some sweet, others joyful and even some worrying, I was pulled in, and didn’t want it to end and am looking forward to reading her other book when I don’t have 60 plus books to review!
(I received this book from the author for my honest review and I am truly happy to provide it!)
*I received an early reader from the author. This does not affect my review.*
Actual Rating: 4.5
I didn’t really know what to expect, but I was excited by the premise and blurb so I couldn’t wait to start this one…Whoa! While it was a bit of a slower read than my usual lately, especially for a thriller type story, I have to admit I loved every moment of it! Well, at least every moment since Angel’s first meeting of Ash and Eli…but technicalities…
I could have easily given this 5 stars, but there were a few things that seemed somewhat unfinished or rushed. First, was an issue early on that did allow the story to take the turn it needed to really start. Then there was a couple similar small details at the end that also didn’t seem to fit, or lacked any real reason or detail that seemed a bit overlooked compared to the overall story and amount of detail the rest presented. Nothing major, or anything I didn’t like at all or caused concerns, but just personal pet peeve type blips.
The parts I did enjoy? As mentioned, nearly everything! Well, honestly I did enjoy the entire story overall, but I loved the character growth and all the plot twists in this one! I also really enjoyed the characters, especially Asher, Elijah, Jake (whom I’m hoping returns in a sequel!), Angel, and even Marino and Fahn oddly…(Those last two I enjoyed in their villain roles, and not at all in the ‘we could be friends!’ way I loved the others, but I felt both were interesting antagonists and I enjoyed their personalities and the added challenge they added to the MCs story!)
I also loved all the memories and tough discussions, both from Ash and Eli’s childhoods, and Eli’s internal dialogue, as well as seeing Angel realize forgiveness and personal healing don’t always mean going back or trusting those who abuse us. There were several harder topics and themes in this book, and I loved seeing the characters each deal with things in their own way, and seeing each topic dealt with in a sensitive and motivational way!
