Alright, before you read this review, if you haven’t started this series, stop and go read it. Not because I’m about to spoil anything, but because you NEED to. I can’t even put into words how incredible this story is!
Afton’s morality comes into play much more in See You Soon, Afton, and it’s very compelling. The constant struggle of wanting to feed the urge to kill, but also concerned for the innocent. It’s an internal conflict that just makes Afton so much more intriguing. As a reader, part of me wants to love her and part of me wants to fear her. I think that makes a really amazing experience reading this, especially through her point of view.
We learn more about Afton’s past, and gain some clarity on some of the questions left off in the first book, as well as given a whole new set of questions to mull over while we (I) (im)patiently wait for the next book.
If “un-put-downable” was a word, that is exactly what I would use to describe See You Soon, Afton. Brent Jones is brilliant in his writing, and he is creating a series that I am sure will just keep getting better. I cannot wait to see what’s next. Now, if you didn’t listen to me in the beginning of this review, GO READ THESE BOOKS!
See You Soon, Afton by Brent Jones was a great read. This is book two in the Afton Morrison Series. Afton is challenged when trying to track down a young girl who is abducted. Unfortunately Afton has to be careful because she is suspected of committing murder. I have really enjoyed reading Afton’s story and can’t wait to read more of the series. This is another must read series by Brent Jones.
I read this book in one day and literally couldn’t put it down. The first Afton book was a warm up for the mystery, intrigue, and action in this second part of the series.
We find out more about Afton’s past and it’s HUGE. I’m not going to spoil it because you have to read it for yourself.
Plus, the cliffhanger from book one gets resolved with tons of action along the way.
I loved the suspense of it all and I’m excited to see how Afton fixes this mess in the next book. She’s got a ton of work ahead of her.
Afton Morrison is a female psychopathic vegetarian librarian who has a thirst for violence and craves the thought of taking a human life. She also has a pet goldfish.
She knows the difference between right and wrong; she just chooses to draw the line differently than most people. She talks to an imaginary version of herself ….. and someone she calls “The Man In The Shadows’ who seems to be following her. The thing is .. she doesn’t know if he’s real or not.
This is the second installment of a 4-part series. I highly recommend starting with the first book and reading in order. There are cliff hangers involved.
A librarian co-worker has taken and Afton will do anything to find her and bring her home. Afton suspects that the Man In The Shadows has come out of the shadows and he wants Afton at his mercy.
Afton is suspected of murdering a known rapist and the police are watching her very closely.
But it’s the family secret that comes to life that changes everything as Afton knows it.
This story is full of twists and turns and lots of action. Being a novella, it’s a fast read. Although there is a nerve-wracking cliff hanger, you won’t have to wait long for the continuing adventure of Afton. Book 3 will be available 9/17/48 — and Book 4 available 10/29/18.
Many thanks to the author for this advanced digital copy. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
When I finished this book I was freaking out!! I don’t even think I could have formed complete sentences to write my review! This book!!! It was EVEN BETTER than the first book, which was awesome!!! If you haven’t started this series, you really need to!!
So, the book starts right off where the cliffhanger from book one left off. There’s lots of suspense, action and mystery. Some things get resolved, but then there’s twists and turns that are pretty shocking. The whole thing moves along pretty quick and you can’t take your eyes off the page. It’s so intense! I think I growled anytime someone spoke to me, especially towards the end of the book. No phone calls, I’m reading this book!! Lol! I had the book read in a day. I’m not sure how many hours, I was too busy reading to pay attention.
We actually find out about Afton’s past, and that was pretty interesting (to say the least)!! I love Afton, she is the most fascinating character I’ve ever read about. And I absolutely love that we see things through her eyes.
“That was just a big misunderstanding, I’m sure. I’m a children’s librarian. I don’t make a habit of hanging out in dive bars, and I definitely don’t condone violence. I mean, my God, I’m a vegetarian. I don’t even like the thought of hurting an animal.” – Afton in See You Soon, Afton by Brent Jones
So far this series is OUTSTANDING!!!! I am literally dying here to see what happens in book 3!!! How does Afton solve this next problem?!
I can’t recommend this book, this series, highly enough!! I’d give it 10 Stars if that were possible!!!
