Ainsley came into my life in a flurry of vibrant colors, lighting my world up when all seemed lost.It wasn’t our quiet nights by the creek or stolen kisses surrounded by a sea of cotton that saved me. It was her. She was my comfort when life threw one ugly tragedy after another at me. Until she dealt me the greatest blow. Now, abandonment, betrayal, and death darken every corner of my life. Anger … every corner of my life. Anger and hurt burn bright where love and trust once lived.
But, now, she’s back. Sure, she’s changed, but I see through it—straight to her heart.

Heartbreakingly beautiful
Epic love story
How do you survive the loss of those you hold most dear? Well, clearly, some of us push them away.
I tried so hard to fight where this story was going because I’m selfish and want all happy thoughts. But stopping wasn’t an option and really I had to know…
When the boy next door is your everything and you force yourself to make him nothing all that’s left is nothingness.
Ugh the feels! I was desperately clinging to hopes and dreams but sometimes the detour is better than the path we thought of first.
What a way to debut, I look forward to reading more from Ms. Knight.
Ainsley has a kind and generous nature about her. Always putting others needs and happiness before her own. She is also hardworking and determined when she decides to do something.
It was love at first sight when Ainsley an Adrian first met as children. Their friendship and love grew stronger over the years.
Ainsley was Adrian’s light in the darkness when times were rough. She was his Sunshine.
They were inseparable. Until one night tragedy struck.
Can their love survive their grief? Will they be able to help each other mend and overcome the heartache?
I loved See Through Heart. It was a beautiful and emotional story about overcoming grief, finding oneself again and giving love a second shot.
This was my first introduction to Amie Knight’s work and I can’t wait to read more.
See through heart by Amie Knight had me smiling and crying. I absolutely fell in love with her story. Ains (I can call her by one of her nicknames cause I feel I really know her after reading this) was beautiful. Her pain and love could be felt through the pages right along with Adrian’s. I wish there was a sequel for their story but I know there won’t be. And that’s okay. Amie did an amazing job with this story. I recommend this book. Please write more books, Amie!
3.5
Adrian and Ainsley’s story was my least favorite of the three couples. I really enjoyed the first half when they was younger. I loved how they had been best friends since they was eight. Loved their relationship with Lori.
What an awesome small town romance… Adrian and Ainsley had loved each other since they were little kids..I adored the love and care toward each others.. stunning!
*** 4.5 Stars ***
See Through Heart (The Heart Series Book 1), Amie Knight’s debut novel, is an emotional, coming of age, friends to lovers, second chance, contemporary romance. The book is separated into two parts: part one is in first person single POV, and part two is in first person dual POV. I’m going to be very vague in this review in order to prevent spoilers.
The story follows Ainsley and Adrian’s relationship from forming a friendship in childhood to falling in love as teenagers to enduring tragedy, heartbreak and years of separation to finally reuniting as adults. Both characters deal with personal traumas and tragedies in different ways resulting in mistakes that hurt each other. Their journey is very difficult, but eventually, through healing and forgiveness, they find their way back to each other.
I really enjoyed Ainsley and Adrian’s love story! As characters, they were both very likeable and relatable. My heart broke for them as they experienced so much pain and loss. I had a hard time believing this was a debut novel because it is written so well. The story drew me in from the start and held me captivated to the end. It’s a beautiful tale about overcoming the pain of loss, finding healing, restoration, and a second chance at love. I highly recommend it.
Whoa I can’t believe this was this authors first book, she is crazy talented. The one thing I loved so much was the flow of this book it was smooth and that might sound crazy but I just glided through these pages. I think it was a perfect summertime read it was light but still was just a fantastic love story .Its a life story these characters meet as kids and love each other even when they are apart. Ainsley and Adrian relationship was sweet as sugar I awed so many times, Ainsley really needed to figure how to deal with her loss and she ran. Four years later she is running back to face everyone she left and hurt but still has so much love for.
Incredible read that keep me entertained for the whole story.
I picked up this book when it was on sale as a freebie and well the cover intrigued me. I am so happy I did. This is an author I want to read more of.
So in this book we have Ainsley and Adrian. Their story from start to the end brought out emotion in me reading. I has parts that made me cry and other parts I smiled and laughed. I truly enjoy a good book that makes the emotion in the reader come out.
We start their journey at 8 years old. I absolutely was thrilled when I started reading. The friendships and family.. it just made such a good story to read. I felt I really know the characters.
We get to the good ole teen years. Well you can imagine as teens that they all change in their own ways. And then tragedy strikes… Everything changes… This part of the book broke me! I mean big, fat, ugly, hiccupy tears. I can get through it right? They can get through it?
“Let’s pretend we are just a boy and girl in love. That our lives aren’t encompassed in overwhelming sorrow and heartbreak. That we aren’t swimming in a never-ending sea of grief. Please let me have this. This moment of beautiful in all this ugly.”
I so loved this book. Straight to the ending I had all the feels I so love when reading. I would totally recommend this book to anyone who loves a good second chance romance or just a good emotional romance. The story is a beautiful one to read, even if it tears ya up a bit in the process.
I loved Ainsley….Adrian, yeah not so much…I get it, he was hurt, but Ainsley was devastated, broken, and he was kind of a jerk…there was a part of me that didn’t want them back together….but then it’s not a love story. He just felt so arrogant at times to me, like he felt as though he was the only one hurting….maybe it was just me, loved Jessi, Kelly and Miranda and want to read more about them and Ainsley
First novel by this author ( but second Ive read )
A story of 3 childhood friends….and so so so much more.
Beautiful story about friendship, coming of age, love, Loss, second chances and heartbreak. How the charachters overcame each of the heartbreaks to find their path.
Superbly written with charachters that you can see, feel and touch. And at times shake…because that’s human nature and we all mess up sometimes. but that’s what makes this such a great book.
Wonderfully real and honest this book did not disappoint. In fact I loved it
I’m not going to say anymore on the story because…you should read it yourself…you won’t regret it.
The first book I read by Amie Knight was A STEEL HEART and I was so blown away with the writing that I couldn’t wait to start SEE THROUGH HEART (Her 1st Book).
This was a tearjerker angst read. It also was a page-turner read!
Ainsley Michelle James was eight years old while playing with her friend Miranda at the creek. When she found a beautiful. raven-haired boy wearing what appeared to be church clothes. His blue slacks were held up by black suspenders that covered his white shirt. That was the day she met Adrian Davis and she would always remember that day. “My name’s Adrian Davis. My daddy and me moved in next door.”
Ainsley had a cousin that lived with her and her mom. Her name was Loralie Nicole James. She was younger, but best-friends with both Ainsley and Adrian. They were an inseparable threesome. They thought nothing could ever separate the three of them. As they grew older, circumstances did come between them. Ainsley and James grew closer as poor Loralie grew father away. They thought that they could be together, and Lori would come around.
Just when Ainsley and Adrian thought nothing could ever keep them apart. That they had something special built on years of friendship and love. And they’d all live happily ever after. The unimaginable happens and no one will ever be the same. Life is short and tomorrow is never promised.
Loved it big time!
Loved this book! Amie is such a talented author. She writes beautifully. A must read!
Favorite Quotes:
I had to admit I was flattered. I figured the reason for that was Anthony was from Hell and the devil had all kinds of Jedi mind tricks up his sleeve.
“You, my friend, are a ten.” She fisted her hands on her hips and asked while pointedly looking over at my painting, “Guess who else is a ten?” She plucked her bag off the futon and turned toward the door. “On that note, I’m out. When a girl makes an epic speech like that, she should follow it with a grand exit.”
What in the hell is wrong with you? Put that…. that… weapon of ass destruction away, man. Jesus, don’t you know that I can’t unsee that shit?
I stared down at her very tight, black pants that seemed to have donuts all over them. I mean, I could have been mistaken, so I studied them harder. Nope, still donuts. I laughed even harder. “Now is not the time to discuss how delicious and fashionable my leggings are, Adrian.”
“Lord, you have to be the absolute worse alpha in history… You were a complete….” She stopped like she was contemplating just how horrible of a person I was. Then she snapped her fingers and shouted out enthusiastically, “Alpha-hole! Yep, that’s you, an alpha-hole. You are ruining every book boyfriend I’ve ever read.”
My Review:
The agile layering and mesmerizing storytelling of the See Through Heart grabbed me from the first page and held me fast throughout. My heart was already broken during the dramatic and devastating prologue so I knew full well this was going to be a tense and emotive read, but I didn’t even care as I could already see the exceptional quality and depth in the writing and was helplessly enmeshed. I was engrossed, engaged, and up to my eyeballs in this compelling book from beginning to end. I was unable and unwilling to put my Kindle down any longer than absolutely necessary and felt irritation and an urge to hiss at any disruption to my reading. While they weren’t always admirable, I adored these complex and vividly drawn characters and cheered and agonized for them as their story unfolded. Amie Knight has spectacular writing skills and had me smirking, sweating, gasping, cringing, and blinking as she mined all the feels with her nimble word-craft. She left me with a bruised heart, satisfied smile, and an unusually strong desire for biscuits and gravy.
Talk about love and loss. This book totally pulled at my heartstrings. It was heartbreakingly beautiful. Ainsley and Adrian were adorable growing up together, being teenagers together, and dealing with loss together. I rooted for them from the beginning, not knowing where this book was going to lead. Highly recommend!
A sweet, well-written story of love that pulls on your heartstrings. Adrian and Ainsley are childhood friends that grow into something more. But a horrible tragedy has Ainsley heading out of town with no explanations or goodbyes leaving Adrian heartbroken. But you always have to come home, and she does exactly that 4 years later to deal with the past and the present. Adrian is super sweet with a little bit of alpha mixed in and Ainsley is the girl that breaks under the guilt. It’s a story of love, friendship and family, learning to accept the past and love unconditionally; forgiveness and redemption
