I thought See a star rise was a fun read. I love how this series of books keeps adding on to the story and picks up on the story again. Monica Best is mentioned in the first book and to finally find out more about her is awesome. Monica has to work hard for a second chance at music and love how the author approaches this story. Can’t wait to read the next one!
A great clean, sweet, and romantic read with fun music industry setting. This light read is a standalone that has comeoes from previous characters along with new characters. Monica was a previous side characters and this is her story to shine as the plot loosely follows her comeback. It goes through the emotions and ups and downs of fame and boyfriends, and of course a little miscommunication that made for cute story keeping me captivated throuh till the last page turned. Can’t wait for more in this series. I voluntarily reviewed this standalone ARC.
Another great RomCom from Rachael!
See a Star Rise is Monica’s story! We met Monica in How a Star Shines (Book 2 in this series). Monica is dating Preston (the same Preston jerk we saw in the previous book). Well, Monica was dating Preston until she goes out for dinner with Kiki Loveless after Preston was too tired to join them (not that Kiki was upset about that!). But what does Monica see outside the restaurant window, but Preston canoodling with another woman! Obviously, Monica confronts them, and realizes their relationship is over! But he’s also her manager!
Kiki and Ruby help Monica feel better, but Monica still has to deal with Preston as her manager! But a new publicist is hired, Logan, and Monica blurts out that he’s her new boyfriend, putting him in an awkward situation, but he goes along with the ruse. Their relationship goes from this situation to other twists and turns with loads of hilarious situations! I could relate to Monica much better in this book than in the previous. I thought in previous books, she was shallow and self centred, but you see the depth behind her and can understand the reasoning behind her previous actions.
This is a very entertaining story! Can’t wait for what comes next from Rachael Eliker!
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely.
See a Star Rise is the very entertaining tale of Monica Best who was a secondary character in previous books. This is just a fun series. I love these sometimes quirky characters. See a Star Rise can be read without reading the first two books, but having read them makes this book that much more enjoyable. Monica gets to shine. Once again Preston proves he is a jerk. Logan is such an improvement in the boyfriend department. The plot loosely follows Monica’s comeback. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in their crazy celebrity lives!
I enjoyed this novel by Rachael Eliker. I especially loved the characters! Monica and Logan are both wonderful characters, and they are a super cute couple together. I loved Monica’s quirkiness and her enthusiastic spirit. Logan was swoon-worthy, kind and caring; which was adorable.
The plot was good, but some parts didn’t quite hold my full attention. I loved seeing some of the old characters like Kiki, Josh, Ruby and Collin!
Overall, a fun novel! I would recommend it!

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not affected my review which is my honest and unbiased opinion.
This is the third book in the Pop Stars series by Rachael Eliker and it is a very nice clean read. This novel features Monica Best as she works her way back into the public eye as a pop singer. There is a romantic triangle that comes into play between Monica, her manager Preston, and her publicist, Logan. This story had so much angst that I started chewing my nails. Monica appears to be the epitome of a young, insecure musician whose insecurity bleeds over into her personal life. Honestly, I had these feelings in high school! There were occasions I wanted to tell Monica to shut up, listen and observe the actions of men who supposedly care about you. All that aside, it is a sweet romantic read set in the midst of a crazed world known as musicians.
See a Star Rise by Rachael Eliker is another in her Popstar Romantic Comedy series, which follows pop singing sensations to their pinnacle. Monica Best took off from Harper Music once because of a man. She ran to another man, but that didn’t work out (a funny story). Harper took her back and she is on the brink of super stardom if only she can hang on. She is out for dinner with her friend and mentor, Kiki Loveless because Preston, her boyfriend/manager, was too tired to join them. As she looks out the window of the restaurant she sees an amazing sight. Preston, with his arms around and his mouth on, another woman. She confronts them but thankfully does nothing stupid, as she is prone to do.
Her friends Kiki and Ruby help her get over the devastation with a marathon drumming session. But she still has to face Preston. Thankfully, a new publicist, Logan, has been hired, and she puts him on the spot by introducing him as her new boyfriend and he gamely plays along. Their relationship is one blooper after another-it’s the best part of the book: the laughing.
This is a fun series of books. It is not a serious read, but fun one. The characters are relatively shallow but seeing the depth in them is not the point of the books. The romances are clean, and not unexpected. Some of the twists are turn are unexpected, especially with Monica who seems to become tongue-tied when she is nervous and is prone to saying the most amazing things. Give it a try. You will like it!
I was given a free ARC of See a Star Rise in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Monica finally gets her redemption story. I found her character endearing and her flub-ups and mouth with no filter when she’s nervous actually made me laugh. She’s balanced out by Logan who’s a little too good to be true but you gotta love him. Her ex Preston is ridiculous with his misuse of large words and he’s a character you love to hate. This was a fun book to read. Definitely fits the romantic comedy genre. A fun ride and a quick read.
