He crossed time on a mission to rescue his family but discovered the one woman with the power to save him.
Reikart McCaim doesn’t want to be saved—despite the fact that he’s a time traveler from 2020 New Orleans stuck in medieval Scotland. He holds his jagged secrets close to his chest and wants to keep them that way. Even if he could open up to the incredible woman fate has tossed in his path, … his path, they’d both be shredded by the things he can’t let go of. Still, he needs her help. In his time, his father lies in a coma with only one wish: to see Reikart’s mother again, whom he’s always claimed was a time traveler pulled back to her true time. Two of Reikart’s brothers already traveled back to search for her, but they are missing, too. Now, Reikart must find his family and secure the magic cross they need to return to their time. And the lass who is everything he wants but cannot allow himself to have is the only one who can recover it.
Deirdre Irvine’s life is a disaster, and it’s about to get a whole lot messier. She’s been betrayed by her brother, and she finds herself unwittingly embroiled in a plot to gain control of the Scottish throne. Not to mention she’s harboring enormous guilt over failing the sister she adores. So when the unexpected chance to prove herself to her sister arises, Deirdre will do anything to use the opportunity to her advantage. It doesn’t matter that it means putting herself in danger and joining forces with a man who claims he’s from the future. But she is woefully unprepared for the jeopardy he puts her heart in.
For a scarred man and wounded lass, their greatest obstacle may not be the centuries that divide them, but the walls they’ve erected themselves. As Deirdre’s and Reikart’s lives intertwine and they’re confronted with dangerous enemies, she’s about to discover a strength she never knew she had, and he’s about to learn that facing his ghosts may be the only way to save not only himself but the woman he now loves.
If you love sexy bad boy heroes with hearts of gold, heroines with the courage to fight for what they want, and love stories that encompass all time, then you’ll love this sweeping romance series.

Another hit by Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca! The story continues with Reikart traveling through time searching for his family. Reikart has closed his heart to love after losing his girlfriend, and avoids relationship at all costs. Deirdre has made many mistakes in the past and wants to find her sister to ask for forgiveness. Both Reikart and Deirdre will be journeying together, forced to confront their feelings for each other. A race against time and danger, will see Reikart and Deirdre overcome obstacles to find themselves and discover love. Enjoy!
This may be the best book in the series so far, but I think I might have said that about the previous stories. The series gets better as the whole story unfolds and readers get caught up in the intrigue. Reikart’s back story gives him a depth that sets him apart from his brothers and makes this romance more poignant. Deirdre is the perfect match for Reikart and I’m only sorry that this romance was so short as I would have loved to spend more time with this couple. I so looking forward to the next book in the series to see how things work out for everyone.
I absolutely loved this book! The characters are very well written and so entertaining. I loved the playful banter between all of the characters. The storyline was unique and kept me captivated from page one. This series has been a joy to read and I look forward to reading the next book in this series and any future books from both authors.
I am really enjoying this series. We see the third brother (Reikart) travel through time and experience his journey. Getting to know Reikart and finding out what makes him tick is very satisfying as a reader. His character is really believable even if we are in a fantasy world where time travel exists. I am very familiar with Cecelia Mecca and her books, but am new (with this series) to Julie Johnstone. I definitely plan on finding some of her books and delving further into her writings. Based on these books I do not think I will be disappointed. And now we have only one brother left. I eagerly look forward to it, but at the same time don’t want it to end!
Another wonderful, hard-to-put-down story. I loved Reikart’s journey to move beyond his past. Deirdre was such a strong woman, admitting her faults and fears, but willing to do what was necessary to correct the mistakes. My heart pulled for these two to move toward each other. I enjoyed all the assistance that helped them along. Family was a strong theme throughout, and I look forward to the next book in the series. Thank you Ms. Johnstone and Ms. Mecca for a wonderful storyline.
I received an ARC as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.
Seductive Scot is book three in the Highlanders Through Time series by Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca. Third in the series, this book cannot be read as a standalone. I wish that the book had a short paragraph at the beginning summarizing the previous story. Four brothers living in modern-day New Orleans are thrust back in time to 1286 Scotland. Each book covers a brother’s experience. This book is about Reikart McCaim. Though there were some confusing moments, overall, I enjoyed Reikart’s story. He is a relatable character who carries deep hurts. His attraction to Diedre Irvine is a lovely build. “His arm encircled her, his hand on the small of her back, and he pulled her against him. He was hard, unyielding, overwhelmingly male. She was conscious of every bit of his warm flesh pressed against hers. He slid his hand from her cheek to the back of her neck, and his strong fingers threaded into her hair and splayed over the lower part of her head to cradle her. He tilted her face back, and before she had time to think, he was tracing his tongue across the crease of her mouth, and all rational thought fled.” Wow! I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I was given a copy of this book.
Following in his brother’s foot steeps Reikart McCaim travels back in time to medieval Scotland to look for his brothers and mother who has been missing for three years. His father is in a coma and needs his wife back to give him the will to live. Reikart must find his family and secure the magic cross they need to return to their time. Deirdre Irvine’s life is a disaster she has betrayed her best friend, after she was betrayed by her brother who involved in plot to kill the king and gain control of the Scottish throne. Reikart meets Deidre she realizes this is her opportunity to prove herself to her friend (Reikart’s mother) even if he says he’s from the future. What an adventure these two go on, it’s filled with lies, betrayal and a love so encompassing to a lass who is everything he wants, but can never have. And the lass who is everything he wants but cannot allow himself to have. I love these sexy bad boys who travel through time to discover themselves and the women they fall in love with who make them whole. I have voluntarily read and reviewed this amazing story.
Fun filled page turner! The 3rd McCaim brother finds himself traveling from New Orleans to medieval life and love. Will he be able to let go of his past and find love? Will Deirdre except him and heal his twisted mind? Will they be able to get the cross for his mom? This book is so filled with exciting adventures you won’t be able to put it down!
Loved Reikart! Everyone makes mistakes, some bigger than others. And sometimes one could carry the guilt for so long, they don’t even realize the burden weighing down their shoulders and as a result shield themselves from the gift of love. I think the one thing I loved about him more than anything was the fact that most people had the wrong idea of who he was. His reputation for being a lady’s man preceded him and he didn’t bother to correct it. I loved that! It took someone special to see the true Reikart…. and that would be Deidre.
Deidre was betrayed by her brother and nothing cuts deeper than that. She’s found herself in quite a mess and it makes her look like the traitor so when the opportunity arises to correct a few wrongs, she jumps in with both feet. What she didn’t expect was meeting Reikart, a man she’s attracted to but he’s already said he cannot promise her love.
FAVORITE LINES IN THE BOOK:
God’s teeth, the man had the most alluring voice. Like the Devil’s voice, no doubt. Beckoning. Persuasive. Calling on one to forget oneself.
These two both have guilt they have to let go of and want to prove to others they are not what the rumors say. It’s a great story of releasing burden, trusting one another, family and love. I know there’s only one more book in this series and I’m already sad about that. Great… GREAT… work from Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca. They had to converse on a regular basis to pull off such a successful series. I was gifted with an ARC and this book (and series) comes highly recommended.
Seductive Scot
Highlanders Through Time #3

Reikart McCaim doesn’t want to be saved from himself, but that’s just what he needs. Now this a modern man from New Orleans 2020 that has gone back to medieval Scotland. That’s right time travel is real or so this man has found out, but he is deeply scarred. He holds his secrets so tightly bound to him that you can’t pry them from his living body. Or so he thought…now fate has tossed this incredibly beautiful woman in his path, but he still can’t let those secrets out very easily. He does need her help though. In his his time, his father in a coma with only one wish and that is to see his Mother again, whom he’s always believed was a time traveler who has been pulled back to her own time. Where might that be you ask? Medieval Scotland. Two of Reikart’s brothers have already gone back to search for her, but now they are missing, too. Now Reikart must find his family and secure the magic cross that helps them travel through time. And the beautiful lady seems to be everything he wants, but can’t let himself have is the only one who can recover it.
Deirdre Irvine’s life is one big mess, and it’s about to get even worse. Her brother has betrayed her, and she finds herself smack dab in the middle of a plot to gain control of the Scottish throne. She’s also feeling rather guilty over failing the sister she adores. So when the chance to prove herself to her sister presents itself, Deirdre will do anything to use this opportunity to her advantage. It doesn’t even matter to her that she’s putting her own life in danger and joining forces with a man who claims he’s from the future. But she is totally unprepared for is the jeopardy he puts her heart in.
Can she save him from himself? Or will he let those demons consume him and will he be able to save her in the end?
Oh my….I almost don’t know what to say. I’m utterly stunned and shocked. This book exceeded all of my expectations and then some. The opening scene had me reading in wide eyed horror and sadness all at the same time. My heart was a train wreck waiting to happen with a range of emotions that were all over the place. All I wanted was for Reik and Dee to fall in love because they both needed each other. Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca are two of my go to authors for historical romance, but boy oh boy these two both really need to consider writing more time travel because these Ladies rock. I can’t wait to read Ian McCaims story because after these three it’s going to take one heck of a special lass to capture his heart.
Reikart is a very complicated character and his past is heartbreaking. Deirdre’s past is not much better then Reikart’s. They are both damaged souls but at least Deirdre wants to move forward but has her work cut out for her to get Reikart to move past his demons. Together they both have to defeat some fierce enemies and this just adds to connection Reikart feels for Deirdre but is trying his best to ignore.
The way history is incorporated in this story was thrilling to read and a great bonus to the story. While I was reading this story I was trying to decide who I thought would stay in the past and who would go to the future. I really love this time travel series and can’t wait to read the next book to see where in time the brothers land.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

So now like his mother they have disappeared. Are Rhys, Greyson and their mother ead or alive? Now it was Reikart’s turn to discover the truth, the saga continues……
1286 Fifeshire, Scotland
2020 New Orleans, Louisiana
Additional tragedy strikes the wealthy McCaim brothers – four years after their mother, Shona disappears. This centers on the third brother, Reikart. He holds himself responsible and can’t forgive himself this past fatality. Now he behaves in reckless and dangerous ways, never allowing anyone close to him again, keeping all his feelings and thoughts to himself, as his emotions and heart is shut off. Recently, more tragedy hits the four McCain brothers, as their father is in a deep coma. His only request was to find their missing mother who he still insists never left them! He claims her family brought her back to her time in thirteenth century, Scotland
So with their father in a deep coma, time is running out as their father does not have much time left in present day, Louisiana. The only person that can save him is his wife, who might be a time traveler, in the year 1286 in Scotland. Previously this made the billionaire brothers feel he was unstable until recent evidence. As they found evidence in areas of the house the sons were never allowed to enter. There they found ancient spell books, an ancient cross and time traveling chants in Scottish Gaelic. Now Reikart has watched his two older brothers vanish following time travel instructions, but something always goes wrong! Now Reikart and Ian McCain we’re back to square one, after watching another brother vanish with no answers. Their father is in a deep coma, the Doctors feel the best chance he has is to locate their mother, as she is probably the only person who can bring him out of his comatose state. The problem is she has been missing for five years and the sons had previously thought their father was insane and their mother just abandoned them or was abducted.
So Reikart reaches out to one of his brother Rhys’s grad school friends, who spoke and understood gaelic. Now it was Reikart who disappears in front of Ian, where he ends up on top of his mother’s enemy Deirdre Irvine, the most beautiful woman he ever saw.
Deirde Irvine was betrayed by a brother she had previously thought was a good man. He was in cahoots with an English King, to murder our King and become a traitor to his own country! He orders his sister to give this forged note to one of the Queens Ladies. Her brother obviously knew and planned he would have to murder whoever she picked! This lady in waiting was Reikart’s mother Shona, where Deirdre had no idea of her brother’s evil, murdering, deceitful, plans. Deirdre’s brother changed after they lost everything, due to their father’s bad choices. This caused them to lose everything, except their sister Maggie’s inheritance through her mother. Now Deirdre is filled with guilt for betraying her sister, forcing her in a marriage she did not want. To prove her innocence to Maggie and Shona’s family, she has to go on a serious mission that could put her life in danger. It will also help Shona and her sons to travel back to their own time.
Reikart volunteers to escort Deirdre on this serious mission. As the attraction between Reikart and Deirdre grows they are caught in a situation that will ruin Deirdre’s reputation. Reikart is consumed with guilt to even to feel anything for Deirdre. Deirdre is tired of all the men in her life making decisions for her. Yet her independence is another thing Reikart just loves about her! He still had to have her understand he could do the right thing, even give her passion but she will never have his heart. The one thing Deirdre wants is not an arranged or political marriage, but a marriage made from love! Yet Reikart wants to kill any man that even looks sideways at her! Will Deidre accept his cold offer of a loveless marriage and time travel to another time with nothing to dream about or hope for? Can Reikart ever move forward and leave the past behind? As sometimes you can’t always see what is right in front of you even though it’s in your heart.
As the dynamic duo of Johnstone and Mecca pen another winner that knocks it out of the park! This is the third book in ”The Highlander’s Through Time,” time-travel series which is absolutely breathtaking! You can read as stand alone reads but this is kind of like a puzzle as each book puts a piece of the puzzle together. This makes me super anxious to read the upcoming book Scandalous Scot which will center with the only brother left in present day in Louisiana. That is Ian the youngest brother, plus I am hoping for a miracle for their seriously ill father too. Plus I am hoping Shona time travels to the correct location, after all it is time-travel and anything could go wrong.
I absolutely loved “Seducing Scot” from Start to Finish. It again, is another romantic, fast-paced, page-turning, adventure that historical, paranormal readers will absolutely love. It is filled with all the elements readers love, with two star crossed lovers who have a lot of baggage and guilt and how to move forward and be happy. This is very difficult for this captivating couple but I know anyone who reads this emotional, awe-inspiring, heart pulling story will love it too. I absolutely loved it as I know you will too! I highly recommend Seducing the Scot by Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca

WHAT AN AMAZING TEAM AND SERIES!!! Seductive Scot by Julie Johnstone (Cecelia Mecca) is book 3 in the Highlanders Through Time series and I think this is my favorite of all three. Don’t get me wrong, I loved books 1 & 2 but there is nothing better than a sexy Scot who is damaged and has a secret pass. You can’t help but fall in love with Reikart. This series is being written by Julie Johnstone who wrote books 1 & 3 and Cecelia Mecca who wrote book 2 and is writing book 4. Their writing style are very similar which makes this series even better. What I really love about Seductive Scot is that Julie Johnstone writes of some famous adults as children and I have to admit that it put a huge smile on my face. The history in this series is truly amazing. This time travel story has a person who could be a traitor to the King and was involved with his murder, a loss of a beloved brother, righting one’s wrong, a fatal car accident, guilt, a loving family, evil, an unwanted betrothal, a love for a sister, trust, protection, rescue by a child, love and so much more. You have to read this story and this series. It is one of the best. Though in a series you can read this book as a standalone.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Seductive Scot by Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca is book Three in the Highlanders Through Time Series. This is the story of Deirdre Irvine and Reikart McCaim. I have read (and Loved!) the previous books, so that did add to my enjoyment of this book. But I did feel you could make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Reikart is the third brother that is trying to help his father who is in a coma find his wife and their mother. Reikart’s two brother have gone missing back in time to find their mother. So Reikart is now going back to find them too and to look for the magic cross that is said to return them. Reikart will need Deirdre’s help in securing that magic cross. Reikart is drawn to Deirdre, but he hasn’t felt worth of love which up until now wasn’t an issue. Deirdre is in a hot mess that has been brought on by her brother and she needs a way out of it along with fixing some things to make it better. Which leads her to going with Reikart which is bring them closer together.
I have been so enjoying this series and of course these two author’s writing. I hope to read more from them soon!
Reikart McCaim has been transported back to the 13th century in searching for his two brothers who had time traveled before him in search of their mother, although is better prepared then his two brothers were. He still was not expecting Deirdre.
I loved Reikart and Deirdre’s story, both characters have strong background stories. These two have hot undeniable chemistry.
The more time they spend together the more chance they have at losing their heart to each other. I love the Highlanders through Time series.
Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca have found the right formula, in my opinion, for what is becoming a thoroughly engaging time travel historical romance series. I have normally shied away from time travel romances but I have fallen in love with this series, alternately authored by the two. Seductive Scot, third in series and offered by Ms. Johnstone, features another one of the four McCaim brothers. Reikart has now spoken the Gaelic spell and followed his older brothers, Rhys and Greyson, back to medieval Scotland. The McCaim brothers are on a quest to retrieve their mother. For several years the brothers did not believe their father’s ramblings that their mother disappeared due to a spell which originally transported her from medieval Scotland to the present day. Now that their father is deathly ill they must retrieve their mother and bring her back.
Julie Johnstone has written an emotional yet engaging story about Reikart and the Scottish lass he meets, Lady Deirdre Irvine. Reikart and Deirdre both have several issues they have to deal with. Some guilt issues. Some family issues. And then their burgeoning attraction to one another. Will they be able to address their issues and find happiness with one another? This work didn’t incorporate the historical issues ongoing at the time as much as the previous works, but I did enjoy how the author wove the right amount of humor and adventure into the story. All in all, this was a very enjoyable read that I would rate 4 ½ stars with a steam level of 3-3 ½ stars. I’m very much looking forward to the next work featuring a McCaim brother. They are my new book boyfriends.
Note: I received an ARC of this work which has in no way affected my honest and voluntary review.
Oh be still my heart! This book has everything you will need to keep you sane while social distancing. LOL! A Hunky troubled Alpha Reikart and a beautiful misunderstood (and previously hated) Heroine Deirdre. Yes Deirdre, the scheming sister of Maggie (book 2) who along with her brother started this whole nightmare. Well things are not what they seem and now she has found herself alone and in trouble. In enters Reikart, literally, he lands on Diedre and at the same time meets his Uncle, who along with his brother Rhys has come to claim Maggie’s castle. Now that the brothers and sisters are back together we gleam a little more information on the much needed cross. Only it is in the hands of an enemy and possibly in England. Deirdre knows if she is to be trusted, forgiven and accepted by her sister’s new family she needs to be the one to go into the hornet’s nest to retrieve the cross so the brothers, wives and Shona can get back to their timeline. Reikart is trouble by past mistakes and carries so much pain your heart will ache for him! He also is extremely protective of Deirdre (even knowing she is the cause of his mother’s problems). He agrees to take Deirdre to England. Shona is not happy about the attraction; however, once she realizes how much pain Reikart is in and why, she comes to realize her once hated enemy may be the only woman on earth to save her son!!! Now mom has to do what she does best: Meddle!!!
Yes Shona and Grace are here and a lot of information is shared between the women that just brings all the stories together. The love that is shown amongst the family is strengthened and boy does this story ride the rails and is amazing! The torment is evident throughout this entire story, which is truly a Julie Johnstone trademark. LOVE LOVE LOVE this story
This is the third book in the series of time travel and Reikart and Deirdre have a rocky road to love. I was grateful to be reaquainted with Rys and Maggie as well as Shona the mother of both men. Definitely a series that I will be rereading.
I received a copy of the book as an ARC but my review is given honestly and freely.
Received this ebook as ARC it is the third book in a great series, this is my honest opinion the books just keep on getting better with each one . Reikart McCain and his brother Ian are trying to find a way to time travel to 1286 to Scotland to find their mother and brothers Rhys and Greyson, their stories are in the first and second book.Reik and Ian make sure their business is taken care of by their cousin as their father is in a coma, cousin Jeremy will begin charge in case something goes wrong.Reik and Ian hold on to the cross and repeat the words to go back and find their family,Reik is flung back to the 13century, and lands on top of Lady Deirdre Irvine while she is swimming.Lady Deirdre is Lady in waiting to Dowager Queen Yolanda. Near the castle of her home Reik brother Rhys is laying Siege on her castle, because it really belonged to his wife Maggie, who is Deirdre sister, When Reik and Rhys see each other and Reik meets his family from the 1286, the story developes with their story,Reik has a lot of guilt feelings about his 20century girl friend dying in a car accident that he caused, Deirdre feels guilt because of her actions her sister was hunted. Deirdre tells the family that Baron Algien Bellecote has the cross they need to return home, and he escaped the castle to go to England. They make a plan to go to High Tower castle the family home, Reik and Deirdre are very attractive to each other but need to get over their problem. It’s decided that Reik and Deirdre will go to England to get the cross, because she is supposed to marry the Baron,he is a very corrupt man and has corrupt friends. There is so much that happen while they are at High Tower castle and training Reik on the ways of how things are done in that century, and when they travel to England. There is so much adventure in this story and history that was so interesting, you felt the love with all the family members in both centuries. I would advice to read the first book and then the second book,to get the full story.I gave this book a 5 rating ,I can’t say enough good things to write about the series, each book gets better and better.Ian the last brother they don’t know if he time travel to Scotland when Reik did or a still home in 20century.I can’t wait to read about Ian story, great writing of Julie Johnstone and Cecelia Mecca, thank you ladies for letting me read your books.
The third installment of the series is just as good as the rest. Reik has been closed off to everything and everyone since the car wreck that killed his girlfriend. When he goes back in time to help his brothers and mother, he comes face to face with the woman who betrayed his mother, centuries ago. Did she actually betray his mother, or is there more to the story? I received an ARC of this book.
