A new exciting romantic suspense series set in Hawaii from Melissa Schroeder! He’s got a killer to catch and no time for love. Fate has other plans.TASK FORCE HAWAII BOOK ONEFormer Army Special Forces Officer Martin “Del” Delano has enough on his hands chasing a serial killer and heading up TASK FORCE HAWAII. He definitely doesn’t need the distraction of Emma Mitchell. From the moment they meet, … Mitchell. From the moment they meet, she knocks him off his feet, literally. Unfortunately, she’s the best person to have on the team to make the connections to help them catch their killer.
For Emma, it’s hard to ignore the lure of a man like him. Tats, muscles and his Harley cause her to have more than a few fantasies about Del. He’d never be interested in a geek like her, but she can’t resist toying with him. When she pushes the teasing too far, she ends up in his bed. She convinces herself she can handle it until the moment he steals her heart.
Del can’t help falling for the quirky genius. She’s smart, funny and there’s a sweet vulnerable side to her that only he can see. As Emma gets more involved with the investigation, she becomes the target of the psychopath. When the danger escalates, Del promises to do anything to save the woman who not only captured his heart but also his soul.

Task Force Hawaii is a hit and it is not on TV on Friday night! This has shades and a taste of Hawaii Five O but this has a romance along with it to keep us all happy. Martin “Del” Delano is the head of TFH and they are hunting a serial killer. Emma Mitchell works with the team on contract and she is a genius, literally, but she can see and find patterns that will help narrow down the search for the killer. These two are explosive together and even though Del tries really hard to keep things platonic he gives in. Watching these two fall for each other in the midst of all the pain around them was great. The characters on this team are outstanding and I cannot wait to dig into the rest of the series!
Del Delano is head of the TFH and has been attracted to Emma Taylor ever since she hit him with a two by four. Emma is a genius at solving puzzles, but she doesn’t handle many situations outside her comfort zone easily. She tends to be blunt when speaking her mind, which often causes her to clash with Del. When a serial killer comes to the island Del puts aside his reluctance to work with Emma in order to find the psychopath before he gets away and finds that opposites do attract.
This is an enthralling and intriguing tale which you will find hard to put down. Each of the characters are unique and their interactions are interesting and engaging. There’s lots of fast-paced action and drama, but, even amidst the horror of a serial killer, you will still find a chuckle or two. The brief glimpses into the mind of a deranged killer are spine tingling and add depth to the suspense. Just when you believe the killer’s been revealed, an unexpected twist may catch you by surprise. The whole story is very well drawn with fascinating characters, exciting action, and just the right amount of steamy passion. I highly recommend this perfect start to this new series!
I’m a Melissa Schroeder fan and even though this isn’t my favorite of her books, it’s still a pretty good read. This author is known for her realistic, flawed and very likeable characters … and this book had plenty of those, especially Del, the main male character. Unfortunately, the main female character, Emma, was really hard for me to understand or like. Maybe there’s a previous book that explains Emma? In the end, I was still totally baffled by Del’s attraction to her and left wondering why she’s written as such a big part of this story and not one of the peripheral characters.
I really liked the characters in this book, especially Emma. Having a heroin who is not perfect, has quirks that some might find annoying, and a hero who is so willing to look at her through different eyes was not only refreshing but delightful. I loved the way their relationship grew and in honesty the police case that brought them together took a back seat to this wonderful romance.
Good romance
I fell in love with Emma right away! She made me laugh out loud! I couldn’t wait to find out more about the whole team and immediately started book 2!
