A CHRISTMAS ABDUCTION by Madeline Hunter
When Adam Prescott, Baron Thornhill is abducted by Caroline Dunham that is when the fun begins. Caro thinks that Adam is guilty of a certain action and she wants to set the record straight….too bad in the meantime she ends up falling for him. This story was so fun and I just adored Caro. She is a go getter and is not afraid of much! 4 Stars
A PERFECT MATCH by Sabrina Jeffries
We finally get Cassandra Isles story…she is Thorn’s twin sister. When Colonel Lord Heywood shows up at a ball to warn his friend’s sister, Katherine “Kitty” Nickman about Captain Lionel Malet, Heywood never would have thought he’d fall in love with her cousin, Cass. After all he always thought he was in love with Kitty and her wonderful letters. I just adored Cass. She is so matter-of-fact about everything. 5 Stars
ONE WICKED WINTER NIGHT by Mary Jo Putney
Lady Diana Lawrence is back in London after having traveled the world. She never expected to run into Anthony Raines, the now Duke of Castleton, so soon but the obvious chemistry was still there. Diana is unsure if she ever wants to be married but Anthony lost Diana once and is intent on not letting that happen again. It will take a kidnapping for Diana to come to her senses! I just loved Diana. She is not your typical member of the ton. She was a hoot! 5 Stars
This is a delightful anthology with a Christmas theme and if you follow these authors you will recognize many of the characters from previous books!!
A Christmas Abduction by Madeline Hunter – 4.5 stars – Adam Prescott, Baron Thornhill is on his way to celebrate Christmas with his cousin Nigel, the Marquess of Haverdale and if all goes according to plan, he may be announcing his betrothal to a wealthy debutante. But all does not go according to plan and when Adam tries to help a young woman he thinks is being assaulted, he finds himself abducted at gunpoint. Caroline “Caro” Dunham is trying to keep what is left of her family and their legacy together, so when she learns that her younger sister Amelia has been compromised and pregnant at the hands of well-known rake, she does what any older sister would do, she abducted the scoundrel and will make him marry her! This was a cute story that was paced nicely, has a little bit of steam and a HEA
A Perfect Match by Sabrina Jeffries – 5 stars– Cassandra “Cass” Isles has been tricked before by fortune hunters and is extremely distrustful of the men on the marriage mart, so much so that she lets everyone believe she is a poor relation. She has also made it her mission to protect her cousin Kitty, who is sweet and kind, but not quite as savvy as Cass. Currently she is attending a ball and is trying to put off one of Kitty’s suitors, Capt. Lionel Malet, Cass is sure he is a fortune hunter and will do her best to keep Kitty away from him. While searching for Kitty, she stumbles upon Col. Lord Heywood Wilde, son of the late Duke of Armitage and younger brother to the new duke – he is also a close friend of Kitty’s brother Douglas. Heywood says he must speak with Kitty on an urgent matter and asks Cass to locate her for him. Heywood is attracted to Cass, but the woman he wants to marry is Kitty – the heiress. This was an excellent story with a lot of depth for a novella. It was also the steamiest of the three offerings. If you have been reading the “Duke Dynasty” series, you will recognize most of the characters and enjoy catching up!
One Wicked Winter Night by Mary Jo Putney – 4 stars – Lady Diana Lawrence is the black sheep of her family, she left England 7 years ago after a doomed love affair and spent years traveling, finally ending up in India. But a letter from her niece Rory has Diana returning to England, she believes that at 30, she is a spinster and the man she loved is probably long ago married with children and she is in no danger of meeting up with him. Anthony Raines, the Duke of Castleton is bullied by his sisters to attend the Masked ball at Vance’s townhouse and is mesmerized by the woman who performed an Indian dance – he approaches her and they share a dance and a kiss, which causes both of them a bit of shock when they realize who it is they are kissing! Anthony wants answers as to why she left him after he proposed and she just wants to forget and carry on with her life. When she tells him to leave her alone and never call again, Anthony is forced to resort to abduction to get the woman he loves to talk to him. This was a great second chance romance, but it did feel a little rushed, had very mild love scenes and the issue keeping them apart was resolved way to easily, but the ending was wonderful.
*I am voluntarily leaving a review for an eARC that was provided to me by NetGalley and the publisher.*
A Christmas Abduction – Adam Prescott, Baron Thornhill, is on the way to a family Christmas when he is held up and kidnapped by a woman (Caroline) and Jason, a young man who works on her horse farm. Caroline believes he took advantage of her now pregnant sister, Amelia. Snowbound, he realizes she’s had some troubles on the farm and helps her. I enjoyed this very good short story with twists and turns.
A Perfect Match – Miss Cassandra Isles is repulsed by the handsome Capt. Lionel Malet who escorts her, and her rich younger cousin, Katherine, to a ball. Malet wants to marry Kitty but she likes their solicitor, Mr. Adams. Cassandra wants to marry for love and doesn’t discuss her money. Looking for her cousin on the terrace she meets Col. Lord Heywood Wolfe. Fearing Malet will kidnap Kitty, Heywood takes the girls to his broken-down estate. Much more going on in this story, but I won’t ruin it!
One Wicked Winter Night – Lady Diana Lawrence (30) is the black sheep of her family. She has traveled for more than 7 years after a doomed affair and is currently in India. Her favorite niece, Aurora, is pregnant and wants her to come home and be her child’s Godmother. Anthony Raines, Duke of Castleton, agrees to attend a masked ball with his sisters where 2 harem girls do a show. He dances with Diana but leaves the ball early. Anthony and Diana do get together but I’m not going to spoil this unique story.
Overall: 4/5
A Christmas Abduction (Hunter): Adam is abducted by Caroline as she mistakenly believes he seduced her younger sister. A fun romp of mistaken identities, with two likable leads. 4/5
The Perfect Match (Jeffries): Heywood steps in to save an heiress from a scoundrel and hopes to wed her himself…until he meets her cousin Cass. This one was OK but my least favorite of the three. 3/5
One Wicked Winter Night (Putney): Anthony and Diana are former lovers who haven’t seen each other for 7 years..can they reconnect? Sweet with lovable felines included. 4/5
“Seduction on a Snowy Night” by Mary Jo Putney Madeline Hunter Sabrina Jeffries
I loved my time with these three authors and their writings in this collection. “The Christmas Abduction” by Madeline Hunter, “A Perfect Match” by Sabrina Jeffires, and, “One Wicked Winter Night” by Mary Jo Putney each one a fun Regency adventure. Madeline Hunter sharing a tale of what a sister will do for her sister. Sabrina Jeffires and the adventure of mistaken beliefs, old fears, and revenge. Mary Jo Putney with her English/India connections and another fun easy read not to be missed tale from the her pen. If you like Regency romance stories, I am sure you will be ever so glad to have read these stories, too. I requested, via NetGalley, and was granted an ARC of this book by the publisher. I have put forth my honest opinion of this book and the stories within in this review. There is so much more I would like to say, but I don’t want to give anything away… Read the blurbs and then read the book. Happy Reading! !
Three prolific, award winning and bestselling authors have written engaging love stories during snow storms before Christmas. Abduction, kidnapping and second chance tropes for an HEA. Guaranteed for a few hours of pleasurable reading, I would give it more than five stars.
A Christmas Abduction by Madeline Hunter
A Perfect March by Sabrina Jeffries a lead in to her next book The Bachelor
One Wicked Winter’s Night by Mary Jo Putney
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
A Christmas Abduction by Madeline Hunter:
Wow, for a novella this had the feel of a much longer book. It was fully developed with engaging characters and a storyline that never felt rushed. I found it especially amusing that a young woman would be the instigator behind the kidnapping of a baron. Waiting to find out why exactly she did such a thing was agonizing and then when it’s revealed, it added to the drama and angst of the story.
I loved both Caroline and Adam. This has some great banter between the two as well as chemistry and definitely longing. I admired Caroline for all that she did to save her little family. And Adam was swoon worthy in that he dug right in beside her to help her where needed, especially in the end. There was definitely more to him than what his reputation led one to believe.
I’m still amazed at how such a short book could carry so much within such a small amount of space. Worth buying the book for this story alone!
A Perfect Match by Sabrina Jeffries:
Awww! We have more of the siblings in the Duke Dynasty series! I loved them in Project Duchess and now that I’ve met Heywood, I’m even more in love with them!
Heywood was so darn cute! He refused to admit he was abducting Cass and her cousin Kitty, insisting he was rescuing them. It did feel like an abduction. But with such a charming gentleman leading the way, it was certainly an entertaining way to go. The fact that he fell in love with the woman who wrote the letters his best friend shared with him is a secret little check box I rarely have checked off. Of course, he doesn’t realize it was Cass and not Kitty that wrote them. In addition, he needs an heiress and while Kitty fits the bill, Cass does not. Enter the drama and angst. Sigh. So good!
I adored Heywood. He was lighthearted and kind, always teasing his siblings and even Cass. And yet, he was plenty alpha enough to check off my other boxes, that are not so secretive. Cass was an amazing heroine. She was strong and independent, especially when considering society during this time. Even as she spoke her mind she was never brash or abrasive. Her fiery spirit was part of what capture Heywood’s heart and I loved him for that as well.
Despite the conflict within the story, this was a relatively low angst read. Just enough to drive it onward but not enough to feel like a lead weight in the stomach. This also gives us a wonderful look at a bit of what life at Christmas time was like during this era. It was magical!
Like the above story, this too has the feel of a fully developed novel. It never felt rushed or over the top. Every character included was well written, and I felt as though they were dear and close friends. Overall, a wonderful read that is perfect for the holidays!
One Wicked Winter Night by Mary Jo Putney:
Regrettably, this was not a favorite. It felt more like a story about cats than a romance and I found myself skimming a good portion of it. While the initial conflict between this couple was believable, the resulting issue was not. I did enjoy that Diana was a worldly woman and that she brought a lightness to Anthony’s life. However, I never felt the chemistry between the two. With a novella I need the story to start off pretty quickly and this did not, causing the build up and resolution of this relationship to feel rushed. This is my first book by this author and I’m assuming this is her usual way of writing which is not to my preference. That being said, I’m sure that her fans will enjoy this story.
Three wonderful novellas written by Madeline Hunter, Sabrina Jeffries and Mary Jo Putney, that all take place around Christmas time. All three authors have such a magical way of writing their stories and these are no exception.
A CHRISTMAS ABDUCTION by Madeline Hunter: Caroline abducts Adam and plans to make him pay for what he’s done to her sister but plans don’t always work out the way you want them to! It doesn’t take long before the truth comes out and Adam proves himself to be everything Caroline wants for herself. ****
A PERFECT MATCH by Sabrina Jeffries: Cassandra and Heywood are attracted to each other but he must marry a heiress to save the dilapidated estate he was left by his father. Cassandra has hidden the fact that she is indeed a heiress because she wants to marry for love and not to a fortune hunter. It’s a good thing Heywood declares his love to her before he discovers she’s actually a heiress but all is not easily solved! ****
ONE WICKED WINTER’S NIGHT by Mary Jo Putney: Diana and Anthony have a history and now, years later, they meet up again and discover the mutual attraction is still there. Anthony is determined to find out the truth of why Diana wouldn’t marry him all these years ago and I loved how her cat, the Panda, has quite an important role in bringing them back together:) ****
I was given an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
What an amazing collection of stories! Some of romance’s best contributed to Seduction on a Snow Night
Madeline Hunter gifts us with A Christmas Abduction where Caroline Dunham devises an excellent scheme to ensure the undivided attention of Baron Thornhill in an effort to obtain some sort of revenge. It does backfire a bit as she finds his attention to be distracting to say the least.
Next up is Sabrina Jeffries with A Perfect Match. Cassandra Isles is whisked away from a ball by Colonel Lord Heywood. He claims it is for her safety but Cassandra is not so sure. She finds herself struggling with her feelings for him, but he needs an heiress while she is hiding that she indeed just what he needs. She needs nothing short of love.
One Wicked Winter Night is next by Mary Jo Putney. Lady Diana Lawrence finds herself tempted at a costume ball. She is even more amazed when she learns that her temptation, a mysterious corsair, turns out to be the Duke of Castleton, a man she loved once but lost. Have they found each other again?
Seduction on a Snowy Night takes us into unexpected love found when the world is being blanketed with snow. Each story is unique and delightfully romantic. This is perfect for when you want something special but do not have a lot of time. Grab this one and carry it with you wherever you go.

Blurb : Caroline Dunham has a bone to pick with notorious rake Baron Thornhill—and a creative plan to insure his undivided attention. Yet once in close quarters, she finds herself beholden to their smoldering connection . . .
For a short read, it was an action packed tale with a wonderful duet illuminating the stage.
Adam Prescott has the Christmas holidays all scheduled but everything went awry when he find himself abducted.
It does not take long for him to identify his jailer, his cousin’s neighbor. And every sooner to fall under her spell. But something is amiss and might separate them.
Caroline is devoted to her family, why she herself came up with this plan. She is a hard worker and accepts what life has thrown on her path. It it does not mean she won’t fight back.
Adam for all his sins is a great character, he knows his faults and flaws and is ready to accept the punishment he might deserve. Else he promptly realize his captor is so much more than her rash decision. Why he took the decision to take and enjoy his time with Caroline.
In such a short read, Mrs Hunter has compiled so many events, matchmaking, second chance, saving one’s life, love scene, even blackmailing and a wedding. It felt like I had read a full novel.
I just loved it.

My review :
What can two people do when they have different agenda, he is looking for wealth when she is seeking love.
OMG, I am such a Dory!
I forgot this one story was about one of the son of third time duchess from Project Duchess.
It was when his brother’s title was named that everything clicked right.
I loved both main characters, they fall for one another through the correspondance exchanged between his friend and her cousin, his sister’s friend.
Cass is a very protective woman and after a deception, she knows what she really wants and it is not fortune hunter scoring to win her attention, why she hides her own wealth in the hope to meet the right man whom will see her for herself.
Heywood has great hope when he came back from the battlefields, he wanted to meet the witty woman who wrote so delicious and clever letters to his friend. But he is for a disappointment when he realizes the heiress he needs is not the woman whom makes his heart beat faster.
So he finds himself in the worst predicament possible, marry for wealth and lose the woman he cares for or marry for love and loose his inheritance.
Mrs Jeffries has crafted a thriving and stirring Christmas tale with attaching characters. It was a pleasure to see again the protagonists of Project Duchess.

My review :
Can two lovers rekindle after years apart when one broke the heart of the other.
It was such a lovely spiritual read. Mrs Putney combined the perfect ingredients for a delicious and sweet tale.
Diana has rebuilt herself when she left England to explore the world. She made herself an independent woman having created her own business. But she longs to go back to her native nation.
So what a choc when she soon meets again her past lover.
Anthony is a caring man, his harsh upbringing did not moved him in a bitter man. He is still the same gentle and good man he was when Diana fell in love with him. But can he reconquer the woman he never ceased to love.
I loved Diana was older than Anthony, she is no mature woman as thrifty is not a ripe old age. She was the one whom decided to protect her young love against himself and not wanting to destroy his future, she preferred to sacrifice her own happiness than bring more turmoils to his life.
A charming tale of second chance with a bundle of sweet kitties.

Seduction on a Snowy Night is a trio of stories set around the Christmas holidays written by three talented authors. This is an entertaining, delightful compilation to bring joy and happiness.
A Christmas Abduction by Madeline Hunter is about trying to right a wrong but not having the correct information causes a delightful sojourn and brings a lovely happily ever after. Caroline thinks that Baron Thornhill is the father of her sister’s unborn child and demands he marry her. While waiting for her sister to return, Caroline and Thornhill’s attraction to each other grows which causes problems. The story that follows is filled with emotion, revelations and love.
A Perfect Match by Sabrina Jeffries is about rescuing the damsel from the blackguard and finding love. Colonel Lord Heywood returns home to receive his inheritance and to assist a fellow friend and soldier by saving his sister from a blackguard set out for revenge. After overhearing Mr. Malet’s plan, Heywood feels the only solution is to abduct Kitty and Cass himself. When he divulges his reasons, they agree to the plan. Cass, Kitty’s cousin, is an heiress in her own right but hides this information because she wants true love. She and Heywood grow closer, but when she learns he needs an heiress to right his estate, she must decide what is important. The story that follows is a cute story filled with laughs, a little drama and two love matches.
One Wicked Winter Night by Mary Jo Putney is about first love rediscovered and the lengths one will go to in order to help it along. Anthony, now the Duke of Castleton, and Lady Diana Lawrence fell in love seven years ago but due to his father’s volatile temper and a slight age difference, Diana refused Anthony’s proposal and left the country. She is now returned home and meets Anthony at a masquerade ball, the attraction is still there and some of the reasons are gone but events from the past are still interfering with their happily ever after. The story that follows is filled with emotion, abduction of a beloved cat, resolution and the reward of happily ever after.
Read this awhile ago. All good stories by excellent authors.
What a delight to have stories from some of my favorite authors together in one book. As a bonus they each bring in old friends from previous books. I love when authors do that. It catches the reader up on the lives of well liked characters. Plus they have given us more likeable characters to enjoy.
Madeline Hunter’s novella starts with the abduction of Baron Thornhill, Adam Prescott. Caro!one Dunham blames him for seducing her younger sister. He is a rake, but is he guilty?
Sabrina Jeffries’ novella starts with Colonel Heywood Wolfe abducting Cassandra Isles and her cousin Kitty in order to save Kitty from Captain Malet, the villain. Heywood is protecting her for Kitty’s brother, who is his best friend and fellow soldier. Does he succeed in saving Kitty and her inheritance? Although he also needs an heiress to save his rundown estate, will be give into his attraction for Cass?
Mary Jo Putney’s story is one I have wanted to read since I read Once a Scoundrel and was introduced to lady Diana Lawrence. In a world where women are second class citizens with few choices, she is a well traveled, strong, independent woman with a mind of her own. After returning to England she attends a masquerade ball and there is surprised to find Anthony Raines, a love from her past. He proposed seven years ago, she left. Will they reconnect? Will they be able to forgive each other to find love once again?
I really enjoyed by his anthology. It seemed to wrap up some loose ends from previous books and in Ms. Jeffries case starts another trial with her villain appearing in her next book. If you are a fan of any of these authors of even if you are not, you are in for a real treat. I received this eBook from NetGalley for an honest review.
I got this book solely because of Mary Jo Putney – one of my FAVORITE authors. Her stories are so multi-layered – it’s romance, intrigue, mystery – complicated just like reality. In this one, she reaches back to a character introduced in her current series ROGUES REDEEMED and even from a pervious series LOST LORDS. Lady Diana Lawrence left her true love Anthony because his father threatened to ruin him. She has travelled the world and finally after a decade decides to come home to England. Of course, she meets Anthony, now Duke of Castleton, and the years just melt away. What follows is a delightful run of kidnapped pet who brings about the happy-ever-after both deserve. Wonderful story with former characters that just dove-tail and add to an already perfect story!!
I also enjoyed reading Madeline Hunter and Sabrina Jefferies for first time.
Seduction On A Snowy Night is an anthology of three Regency novellas by Medeline Hunter, Sabrina Jeffries, and Mary Jo Putney. Despite of the obstacles that cut across the stubborn protagonists’ paths, snow and Christmas holidays play a vital role to make these enchanting romances come alive with swoon-worthy heroes and smart, sassy heroines with a dash of danger—all tied up in a nice red bow.
“A CHRISTMAS ABDUCTION” by Madeline Hunter: Caroline Dunham abducts Adam Prescott, Baron Thornhill with intention to bring the notorious rake to heel for his dastardly deeds. Yet once in close quarters, she finds herself unable to resist their smoldering attraction.
“A PERFECT MATCH” by Sabrina Jeffries: Whisked away from a wintry ball in order to protect her cousin from a unfavorable suitor by the officer she knew only through letter, Cassandra Isles struggles with her feelings for Colonel Lord Heywood. For he, secretly a fortune hunter, must marry for money to save his estate—and Cassandra, secretly an heiress, will accept nothing less than love. She is a woman who takes charge and speaks her mind, while Heywood is torn between carrying out his duty or going after what he really desires.
“ONE WICKED WINTER NIGHT” by Mary Jo Putney is a delightful romantic venture about Lady Diana Lawrence, (briefly mentioned in Once A Scoundrel) who returns to England after seven years of traveling the world. Dressed as a veiled princess at a masquerade ball, she is unprepared to encounter the man she once loved and lost. Anthony Raines, Duke of Castleton takes drastic measures to win back the woman he had never stopped loving. This is their second chance at love as they are snowed in at a remote lodge.
Madeline Hunter, Sabrina Jeffries, and Mary Jo Putney have done an outstanding job creating an anthology of enchanting romances, overflowing with heartwarming moments and charmingly delightful characters and happily-ever-after. Snow and Christmas bring warmth and passion to the Seduction On A Snowy Night. I purchase this book and wrote my honest review.
None of these stories were kind of tear-duct cleansing, ugly crying reads I sometimes find in Christmas collections (and perversely enjoy the most–Mary Balogh and Carla Kelly are especially good at yanking the heartstrings) but these three tales of winter love were enjoyable, and will especially entertain readers familiar with the authors’ other books. Characters from previous works make an appearance and it’s a pleasant holiday reading break.
Seduction on a Snowy Night is a lovely Christmas-themed anthology featuring three accomplished writers that will give you many hours of reading enjoyment.
In Madeline Hunter’s A Christmas Abduction, Caroline Durham kidnaps Adam Prescott, Baron Thornhill, as she’s been led to believe he is the scoundrel who compromised her sister and left her pregnant. Caroline has been trying to keep her family together and rebuild their horse breeding farm. Adam learns more about his captor and is intrigued and attracted. A resourceful man, he manages to get free – but does he really want to leave?
A Perfect Match by Sabrina Jeffries features Colonel Lord Heywood Wolfe, the younger brother of the Duke of Armitage from Project Duchess, the first book in the Duke Dynasty series. He is home from his regiment and is on a mission to deliver a message to his friend Douglas’ sister, Kitty.
Heywood is keen to meet the “lady who wrote the fascinating letters” that Douglas received that sustained him through many battles. It doesn’t hurt that Kitty is an heiress, and Heywood needs money to rebuild the estate he inherited. When he meets Douglas’ cousin, Cassandra Isles, he is attracted to her and soon realizes she is the true author of the letters. The dilemma is that Cassandra is a poor relation – or is she? She wants a man to care for her and not her fortune, so a little deception is in play.
One Wicked Winter Night from Mary Jo Putney reunites Lady Diana Lawrence and Anthony Raines, Duke of Castleton, and gives them a second chance at love. The story ties into Putney’s Lost Lords series as Anthony is the brother of Julia from Never Less Than a Lady.
Diana returns to England after traveling the world and living in India. While at a masquerade, she encounters Anthony, and the magic is still there. Years before, Anthony had proposed marriage to Diana. She had deemed it impossible as Anthony was younger and his father was against the match. This time, Anthony is determined and will not let her go again, no matter what.
“It seems that what I want is you. No one else will do.”
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
