The second Perfect Gentlemen novel from the New York Times bestselling authors of the Masters of Ménage series. Privileged, wealthy, and wild: they are the Perfect Gentlemen of Creighton Academy. But the threat of a scandal has one of them employing his most deceptive—and seductive—talents… dirty the world can be. Only when he’s with his friends can he find some peace. So when an anonymous journalist threatens one of the Perfect Gentlemen, Connor vows to take down the person behind the computer, by whatever means necessary—even if it means posing as his target’s bodyguard.
Publishing a tabloid revealing Washington’s most subversive scandals has earned Lara Armstrong the ire of the political scene—and a slew of death threats. To keep herself from ending up a headline, Lara hires a bodyguard, a man as handsome as he is lethal.
When the bullets start to fly, Lara is surprised to find herself in Connor’s arms. But as they begin to unravel a mystery that just might bring down the White House, Lara is devastated when she discovers Connor’s true identity—and finds herself at the mercy of forces who will stop at nothing to advance their deadly agenda.

Connor Sparks was recruited by the CIA right as he was graduating from prep school and preparing for college. He’s still close to his friends and part of the group known as The Perfect Gentlemen, especially since they accept his secretiveness about his covert activities. When Lara Armstrong, the blogger responsible for the Capitol Scandals site, threatens to bring down the Zack Hayes presidency with explosive information, Conner goes undercover as her bodyguard to figure out what she has. He didn’t count on falling for Lara and things get complicated. And, there’s another threat that puts them both in serious danger.
I’m very intrigued by the continuing mystery arc of the series and it ramps up significantly in this story. More information is revealed that makes the situation even more complex as “Deep Throat” makes another appearance and the Russian mob continues their pursuit. It’s far from solved or resolved as Lara’s information adds another layer of suspense.
Unfortunately, Connor and Lara’s romance was a fail for me, primarily because so much of it was an outgrowth of his duplicity, something I couldn’t forget as their relationship deepened. It didn’t help either that Connor was so awful to Lara. Fortunately, the suspense was enough to keep me engaged, bolstered by the outstanding narration of Kaleo Griffith. I’m happy I opted to listen to the series as he smoothes out the rough edges I found troubling. There are also a couple of nifty little twists at the end that left me excited about continuing on to the next book. These men are far from perfect but it’s also what sets these stories apart.
Loved all the action! Tons of twists and turns to keep you guessing. I really enjoyed the story Have & Every build throughout the book.
This was a great series!!!
I enjoyed the series. Great storyline and characters!
Enjoyed the story line and the characters.
Fabulous
Another fabulous series from these authors, suspense, action and romance it’s filled with surprises.
This series is best reading in order.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
A good amount of dialogues
The characters is well described and developed in to personalities that feels familiar in the end.
Hot chemistry between Lara and Connor makes the love scenes very intense.
All the secondary characters is well known from the previous book and I enjoyed meeting them again.
This storyline is great and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
5 fabulous stars
Hard to put down once you begin reading this romantic series. I have stayed up at night longer than I intended reading this book and others by the author.
Definitely a page turner. Hard to put down. Characters are awesome. Seriously twisted plot.
Great story and awesome author! I’m a fan.
She makes the character’s alive i feel i know them…amazing read as I couldnt put it down!
This is my favorite of the 5 book series. CHIRP had an audio deal for $.99 and I bought it as something to listen to while I do housework. I have listened to it several times now. I laugh every time. It’s a steamy romance with quirky characters. I actually bought the whole series for my Kindle after I listened to this one. Some are better than others, depending on what kind of character you are partial to. My only complaint throughout the whole series is about Lara, the heroine in this particular book. She starts out as an enjoyable eccentric and ends up being ditzy and dumb. It was unnecessary and I thought took away from the story line as it ran through all 5 of the books. But overall, these are the best books I have read in a long time, and came across them completely by accident. Any of the books can be read as standalone.
Looking forward to the next book
Seduction in Session (book 2 in The Perfect Gentlemen) by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake
Well this book was a roller coaster and a half! So many twists and turns, so many much happening and it keeps you on the edge of your seat all the way through. This plot is magnificent, and will hold your attention all the way through the book, but I didn’t expect anything less from these amazing authors. These two are force to be reckoned with.
Connor Sparks is a well trained assassin with the CIA, he’s down right delicious, crazy dangerous, and will stop at nothing to protect the people he loves, including those that he hasn’t always seen eye to eye with.
Lara Armstrong is a political blogger for places as high up as The White House, She works her ass off, she strives to get her stories, she’s one hell of a strong woman and will stop at nothing. She’s the type of heroine I love most when it comes to a story.
This book was intense but in all the right ways. It held mystery, thrill, suspense, drama, romance, betrayal and action. It kept my attention the entire way through. From the first page to the very last there was always something going on and something that intrigued my mind and had my heart pounding a million miles a minute.
I absolutely loved it! When Shayla and Lexi get together and write a book, you know damn well it’s gonna take you on one hell of a ride and this book and series was no exception!
5 stars!
I love anything Lexi and Shayla write, their stories are always full of love and passion along with suspense and action. You will find yourself fully immersed in this phenomenal stories.
Connor and Lara are different people but boy do they set off the sparks! I love where this series is taking you,the mystery and suspense plus the absolutely passion and protectiveness that comes with each Perfection Gentlemen.
Lara is a Senators daughter, vegan, and writes a political blog that tells about the corruption in D.C. When she starts receiving threatening emails she hires a bodyguard. Connor is a CIA agent, one of the Perfect Gentleman, a group of boys given that name in prep school, and one of the President’s best friends. Lara hires Connor thinking he’s an ex vet down on his luck but really he’s there to shut down her blog site and see if she’s a threat to the President. What he doesn’t know is that she could also be a threat to his heart.
I loved Lara, Connor not so much at first. Connor will do anything to get the job done. Even if it hurts the one he comes to love. Excellent story with sex, lies, and suspense.
Connor and Lara should be completely opposite each other, in thoughts, beliefs, and how they run and organize their lives. It truly appears that way at the start, to everyone, and to themselves, but then, just below the surface, they realize how similar they are. For example, they can’t keep their hands off each other when together, they gravitate to each other naturally in every situation, and they worry about the other on a constant and regular basis. Mystery surrounds them, and the road them being together is not easy, painless, or without some real problems. The commitment they always turn back to the other, keeps them together no matter what happens to try and pry them apart, even when it is them. A HEA worth fighting for again, and again, and again
On going mystery with other books in the series makes you anxious to reach the end and get the end to see what happens next.
