From #1 New York Times bestselling author J. D. Robb comes a tantalizing novel in the futuristic In Death series, as Detective Eve Dallas searches for a Casanova killer with a deadly appetite for seduction…Dante had been courting his victim in cyberspace for weeks before meeting her in person. A few sips of wine and a few hours later, she was dead. The murder weapon: a rare, usually … rare, usually undetectable date-rape drug with a street value of a quarter million dollars.
Detective Eve Dallas is playing and replaying the clues in her mind. The candlelight, the music, the rose petals strewn across the bed—a seduction meant for his benefit, not hers. He hadn’t intended to kill her. But now that he had, he is left with only two choices: to either hole up in fear and guilt. Or start hunting again…

JD Robb does it again. Her …In Death series absolutely rock!
I love the entire In Death futuristic police procedural series (which novels always have a heavy dose of romance and usually humor). And Seduction in Death is one of my favorites because it includes the romance of Peabody and McNabe, as well as being the book where Charles meets his soulmate. If you read the series in order, you’ll love watching the characters grow, find love, and deal with their everyday lives, as well as solving murders.
I will read anything by Nora Roberts!
Robb doesn’t disappoint and continues to write engrossing books that move the characters forward.
All of the In Death series are really a wonderful read. I’ve read the whole series so far. I highly recommend them.
Great series!
Love in cyberspace. Is it safer than finding love at the local bar or park? Unfortunately for several women in NYC, it is not and it is up to Eve to find the killer or killers. Is it the work of one very creative man or two working together?
I am enjoying reading this series almost back to back. Yes, they all involve murder with some type of sexual perversion but the main story is the love story between Roarke and Eve. In Seduction in Death, we get to see a vulnerable side of Eve that is beautiful.
Triggers: Murder, Graphic sex scenes
Seduction in Death is the thirteenth book in J.D. Robb’s In Death series. This was another book that was hard to put down for me. Although every book so far in the series has been like that since J.D. Robb is a fantastic writer. It’s no surprise. J.D. Robb is the queen of storytelling. (Sometimes, though, I get nightmares over the cases that Eve has to deal with because I feel for her.)
Storyline/My Thoughts: This book will test Eve again since it involves killer(s) that think murder is a game, especially when it involves seduction games. It will bring back her past that she would rather forget altogether. I knew immediately this book was going to be a tough one since it involves women being found with drugs in their system and some being raped and killed. The perpetrators think they are bright and will get away with it all, but Eve and her team are more intelligent than them. Eve will be tested frequently in this book, not only with the case but also with angry cops who don’t like her.
There is some drama in this book that involves Peabody and McNab. If you read the previous book(s), you would have realized these two butted heads. Readers will find out that McNab has a soft spot and will do anything to win over Peabody. I love these two characters, even though their superiors don’t want them hooking up. They deserve to be happy.
One thing notable in this book is that Eve and Roarke have been married for a year now, and they are inseparable. Roarke is very protective of Eve, and Eve is starting to learn she will not win with Roarke when it comes to him taking care of him. Eve is also beginning to realize that Roarke helping her in cases is not so bad. I love how they work together, and this book brought them as a team without either one of them becoming in big danger.
Overall, this book gets 4.5 stars from me. It may give me nightmares due to how the killer(s) were described. They needed help big time. This book does involve some triggers, such as drugs, rape/attempted rape, violence, and murder.
Standalone or Part of Series: It’s part of the In Death series.
Would I recommend this book? Yes. If you are a fan of Romantic Suspense, Mysteries, or Thrillers, then you will enjoy this series. You will be hooked from the beginning, not only due to the kick-butt heroine but also due to Roarke’s sexy leading male character. I’m so glad I decided to continue participating in the #InDeathReadALong challenge.
Never a hardship to read this series.
Well written and plotted story that gives us the who and why right at the start, leaving you to tag along as Eve and the gang do their stuff to bring justice to those who think killing is a game.
I really disliked the whole reasoning of the why, but man playing god is nothing new. I just wished the whole corrupt company and its employees were taken down over the making and using of these drugs.
I always enjoy following along as Eve does her thing. Her thinking and reactions to situations either amuse me or have me wishing we had actual police officers as dedicated as she is.
We get some extremely fun and entertaining interactions between our main players.
Charles and Louise hit it off, leaving Peabody dealing with a very cantankerous McNab. These two finally become a couple, no matter Eve’s pleas to be left ignorant of what is happening.
Roarke plays a big part and even Summerset gets a chance at tormenting Eve when he has to treat her for being sick.
Mavis, Trina and Leonardo have their parts to play.
I have read all of these books twice already as I own most in paperback and have most of the kindle versions too.
I am rereading this series once more, updating and replacing missing reviews.
Sublime!
Fans of Eve Dallas will like this book
Wonderful book in the In Death series! Don’t need to read in order.
Awesome book
Love this series!! This book is a straight forward mystery with great relationship/character development. Two main couples go through relationship problems that make the characters very real and in depth. There is a new relationship developing too. I enjoyed the plot/mystery. I enjoyed the book very much and would recommend it and the series.
I have yet to find a Eve Dallas book I didn’t lije
Any book by J.D. Robb is a must read.
great SIFI type read…enjoyable each and every time
And so we go again. I thought I knew who the seducer had to be, but as it progressed. I was so wrong. A new way to kill. A new segment in the life and relationship of Eve and Rourke. Kept me reading…
You can never go wrong with a J.D.Robb book! It has love and sex scenes but they don’t “own” the book. It has a real plot and storyline that will keep you reading.
The “in death” series is amazing. The human side of murder investigations. The books celebrate life and all its riches. The good and the bad.
