Anthony
I have to build up my father’s company and prove myself to everyone who had ever doubted me. I get my morning coffee and get straight to work. Except, the barista at the café is sexy as hell and I can’t seem to get her out of my mind.
I don’t have time to flirt with her, but when my company initiates a hostile takeover, I might not have much of a choice.
Besides, I just can’t resist her.

A second chance for her may end in disaster by him
Seducing The Billionaire is the first book in The Barista And The Billionaire series by Alice Jamison. This is the first book that I have read by the author so I was not sure what to expect. However, the book description looked like it could be a funny, flirty and hopefully dirty little tidbit. At least that is what I had hoped. This first book lived up to some of what I was expecting and then fell off a cliff at other points, and not in a good way.
Rose got on a bus one rainy night and left Seattle, WA and her past behind to start over somewhere else. She wanted a new start and to “reinvent” herself. Luckily for her a woman saw her at the station when she was starting to break down after realizing he had no place to go or job. She was offered a room and then a job by Kathy in her cafe. Rose worked hard, saved her money and got her own little place. She was making her way with a job she loved, an apartment that was hers and a determination to not waste her second chance.
Each morning the first customer of the cafe is a handsome and arrogant businessman who Rose finds herself both attracted to and angry with. Finally one morning he asks her on a date, well more like tells her. As he turns and leaves Rose shouts “Hey! Your Name.”, and he answers “Anthony.”
Anthony is a top executive at his father’s company, Prince Corporation. At this point I am not sure exactly what the do other than buy and takeover other businesses for their own but hopefully that will be a detail in the next book. His mother is riding him to settle down, get a wife and have a family to secure the family legacy. But Anthony is focused on running a business. It turns out that the cafe where Rose works has been identified as a perfect business takeover by Prince Corporation. So it seems maybe Anthony has an ulterior motive when he asks Rose out. But maybe there is more to what Anthony really wants with Rose? The story ends the morning after the date, which ended with them back at his home and heating up the sheets, with Anthony being faced with the question of whether to give the green light to the takeover of the cafe or not. Will Rose’s second chance be crushed by Anthony and his business or not?
I was intrigued by the story-line and am interested to see what happens over the next books. I really loved Rose’s character. We all deserve a second chance sometimes and she is a young woman who is definitely making the most of hers and determined not to fail at it. But there are things in her past that haunt her which we get a hint at. Anthony’s character is a bit of an azz to me. He is attracted to Rose and then asks her out with ulterior motives but still has a fantastic night of s e x with her. So he is toying with her emotions which to me makes him a great big azz (actually I would say something else but it would get me banned). Now the thing that I had an issue with was the actual writing. It was a bit choppy and did not flow as smoothly as it should, it needs an editor. Additionally I found the sexy scenes to be laughable especially the use of the word member. It was almost cringe worthy. But the biggest issue is the lack of proofreading. There are more errors than pages in this book which really disrupted the flow of the story and annoyed me to no end. I almost stopped reading but as it is a short story I made it to the end. For me this book needs to visit a good editor and proofreader for another round or two.
A very short novella. A good beginning to this story. The characters were engaging and the book left us on a cliffhanger anxiously anticipating the next installment.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
