“Tanya Anne Crosby writes remarkable love stories.” —New York Times bestselling author, Lisa Kleypas
Merrick Welbourne never anticipated discovering a long-lost twin—particularly one who’d rob him and leave him for dead on the road. Now living his brother’s aristocratic life, he has new trials, tribulations… and temptations, not the least being Chloe Simon, a woman of rare mettle, proud … being Chloe Simon, a woman of rare mettle, proud heart, and unprecedented beauty. But she’s no easy mark for a perceived highwayman.
Chloe Simon knew Lord Lindale was definitely not himself. After encountering the masked highwayman Hawk left for dead, he seemed… somehow different. Maybe more approachable? Infinitely more… desirable. Entirely too irresistible. In a stolen moment of startling intimacy, he makes her feel like titled nobility. But she was only ever a doctor’s daughter, with every reason to steer clear of his very kissable lips.

Merrick is a young prince of a small principality on a journey to discover information involving his father the king’s behavior of late. The old king is drinking, crying in his room at night, and writing a copious number of letters filled with regret, all directed to a “Fiona”. So Merrick takes a secret trip to figure out just what exactly is causing his father’s distress.
Merrick ends up in Scotland, a victim of a robbery, and mistaken identity, but as events unfold he realizes that the answers he’s seeking are close at hand. IF he chooses to keep quiet, he can gather information on the situation. But Fiona is just one part of the puzzle, as the complication of Chloe, and a lovely problem she is as he can think of nothing else, falls at his feet.
This is a terrific story, with a host of colorful characters, a few interesting twists and plenty of intrigue to add to a heated romance. It is a few hours of great fun and I’m looking forward to Ian’s story next!
An amazing love story. Merrick Welbourne discovered a whole new life, and Chloe Simon discovered a new man. The storyline was full of secrets, betrayal, and love. The wonderful characters were well-developed and believable. I enjoyed the story immensely.
Hard to describe as it’s a mix of Robin Hood in that Ian is having to steal from the rich to feed his people and The Prince and the Pauper in that their are twins and Ian and Merrick change places. Merrick does not do this willingly as he gets knocked out and wakes up in his brothers clothes. There are so many things going on that you keep reading to find out what happens next. This is a book I will gladly reread.
Many years ago Lady Fiona MacEwen thought she was going to marry her Prince. Unfortunately it didn’t quite work out like that.
Now Merrick Welbourne is going to find out who his father has been writing to for years. He’s absolutely stunned by what he finds. With his father’s illness the only way he can find answers is by hiding in plain sight.
Miss Chloe Simon worked alongside her doctor father until his death. Then the day of his funeral she lost her home and took work as a nurse. While she’s there, hopefully she can find the deeds to her home.
This is a story with lots of complications and secrets. The characters are fascinating with very good hearts. That is except the one who is stealing so much that it puts the lives of everyone in the village at risk.
This is the first in what is obviously a duet. I can’t wait to read the next one.
I loved it.
Seduced by a Prince
The Impostors Series
book 1
by Tanya Anne Crosby
This was a fantastic read! I truly enjoyed this.
Lady Fiona Elizabeth MacEwen has fallen in love, desperately believing that her life will be that of a fairytale. Not the cruel proposition that was forced upon her, for what mother would choose between children! The man she loved Julian Merrick Welbourne III was a monster!
On his journey for answers, to Glen Abbey Manor, Merrick Westbourne never anticipated to meet his exact image, get knocked on the head and meet an angel all in one night! His father has kept a secret from him, and he vows to find the truth.
Chloe Simon never held Lord Ian Lindale in high regard, but after being knocked on his handsome head, he’s been acting strangely. Especially after that kiss he so unexpectedly stole from her. Things are not as they seem at Glen Abbey, everyone is hiding a secret from Lady Fiona to Lord Lindale. And who exactly is Hawk? Secrets and deceptions are plentiful, will they destroy the blossoming feelings for Chloe? Or is the impostor the man she’s fallen for?
Tanya Anne Crosby has a gift for weaving entertaining stories that captivate the reader. This was such a gem of a story, I loved Chloe and Merrick she was just what he needed a spitfire that isn’t afraid to go toe to toe with him. And Merrick he’s not who he thought he was, love made him the man he was meant to be. I also loved the secondary characters they enhanced the story. I can’t wait to read Ian’s story, and his reaction to the truth!
I highly recommend this, it’s wonderful read with plenty of mystery, intrigue and well deserved happy ending.
This is my honest unbiased opinion, all opinions are my own.
Secrets, lies, theft, betrayal, intrigue, and, of course, love.
Well, I certainly enjoyed this story. Loved the steamy parts and the characters were fun and exciting. I wish I could read the 2nd book but 5 dollars is to pricey.
The story was a whirlwind that kept spinning until the end. Filled with excitement, had humor, raging passion, good fascinating plot.
It did come to somewhat of a conclusion but still left you hanging all at the same time.
The story deserves 5 stars but the non-conclusion made me want to drop my rating but I didn’t as you can see.
Mature reader:
Loved the story. Characters were a delight to follow. Good from begining to the end!
Nicely detailed plot with great intrigue. What is the big secret? What happened after the twins were separated after birth?
Highly recommend this historical romance.
Julian Merrick Welbourne IV is traveling to Scotland to find out the answers his demented father cannot and has not ever given him. He knows whatever is in Scotland is the answer to many of his childhood and adulthood questions.
Chloe Simon was the daughter of the local physician and all she wanted to do was follow in her father’s footsteps. However, she knows the Crown will never let a woman be a medical doctor. Therefore, she settles for taking care of the invalid Lady Fiona MacEwen and the other village occupants. Everything goes well until there is a grave mix-up and criminal activity is afoot.
The prologue of this novel sucked me in and had me all discombobulated. I was not expecting this historical romance novel to pack such a punch with the first few pages AND I had not gotten to the main story. One of my favorite things about historical romance novels is the absence of modern conveniences which lead to vast misunderstandings, confusion, and the revelation of multiple secrets. There were a lot of mistaken identities, miscommunication, and secrets in this novel that it was entertaining to see it all unravel. Merrick is an excellent actor and played his mistaken identities well. As a reader knowing more than the characters can be fascinating and frustrating at the same time. The novel was beautifully written, which made it engaging and a page-turner. I cannot wait to see what Ian is getting up to in Book 2. The novel does end on a HEA with a hint to Book 2 which focuses on Ian.
Fun get away from the real world. I did want to find out what happened to Edward though.
Good story but tooooo much yukky sex
I have read many Books by Tanya & this one is not one of her best.
The Story was there but wasn’t written well.
Chloe a Dr.’s daughter & a Prine in waiting Merrick did find HEA. during the Story Fionna Merrick & Ian’s mother didn’t recognize that her own son was not the twin she raised. A Mother knows her children inside & out. How she failed on that point turned me off. For her to supposedly be in charge of an estate & tenants failed miserably. How could she not realize the tenants were starving? I will still continue to read Tanya’s Books, albeit it may not include the rest of the Series.
A little too short and characters need more development, but good for a quick read.
Loved this story. Merrick and Chloe make a beautiful couple. Love happily ever afters!
The Prince and the Imposter book 1: Merrick Welbourne IV never anticipated discovering a long-lost twin (Lord Ian Lindale), particularly one who would rob him and leave him for dead on the road. Now living his brother’s aristocratic life, he has new trials, tribulations, and temptations. Chloe Simon, a woman of the mettle, proud heart, and unprecedented beauty, is a big temptation. She is no easy mark for a perceived highwayman. Chloe knew Lord Lindale was not himself. After encountering the masked highwayman Hawk left for dead, he seemed different (more approachable, desirable, and irresistible). He makes her feel like titled nobility. She is only a doctor’s daughter with every reason to avoid his very kissable lips. – This is an excellent romance. I loved Merrick. He fit into every situation, and everyone liked him. Chloe was sweet and caring. Their chemistry seemed real. The story was interesting, and I enjoyed the twists.
Book one of The Prince & the Imposter series a well written story with a great storyline the story flowed smoothly across the pages. Once I read this book I had to read the next one. A story of two brothers separated a birth by their Father. Merrick Welbourne will be king someday when he goes to find out about some letters his Father has hidden, he is set upon. He ends up taking Ian MacEwen’s place. He meets Chloe Simon a doctor’s daughter. The story has suspense, drama, danger, highway men, a switch, coming to know the common people, and romance. I enjoyed seeing this story come together. I received a copy of this book through K.U.and I am voluntarily reviewing
This story is an old one that tells of an innocent naive young woman who puts her trust in a man, a prince no less, and lets herself fall victim to the age old crime that can befall a woman. The result is that she gives birth to twin sons. It goes on to tell about the course the two boys lives take upon separation as infants. Enjoyable reading. Thanks Tanya!
This book had everything I love.
It was set in a time long ago. It had twins separated at birth. It had deep secrets. A strong heroine and a handsome hero. It had heart, love, betrayal, kindness, and loyalty.
From the beginning, I was hook \. When it first starts it opens with betrayal and a choice no mother should ever have to make. But is soon leads into a thief with a heart. A heroine was strong and smart as well as beautiful. From there it took me on a journey of hidden secrets, love denied and eventually my happy ending.
The story was so well written and characters so enticing I could not put the book down. I must say Tanya Anne Crosby has definitely become my new favorite writer. I can’t wait to dive in to see how our other twin faired in his quest.
Good read
