This book was another great one if you ask me. Although I thought this book started a little slow, with Hayley going on a job interview and sharing that she wanted to change her life, I luckily started to love this book more and more the further I got.
Just like with most of Maisey’s books, the main characters where definitely a lot of fun to get to know. Hayley was this ‘good’ girl who desperately wanted to get away from her sheltered life. And Jonathan was this guy who believed people where all bad, and him especially. I loved the way they where just perfect for each other and how they changed one another. And well Jonathan.. There is just something about a grumpy cowboy!
The setting of Copper Ridge was definitely great. I love reading about small towns, and after reading other books my Maisey Yates, I definitely started to love Copper Ridge. And this book definitely leaves me wanting to read more.. yet again! My TBR never seems to lesson after reading a Maisey Yates book.
Fun little short story! We got to see two siblings of some other main characters in the Copper Ridge series find their HEA. Nice quick and entertaining little read!
Who doesn’t love a cowboy?
Great characters, well described setting and funny dialogue. Missy Yates is my go-to for western romance.
You would never expect Hayley and Jonathan to be interested in each other with her being a sweet, shy, never been kissed, preacher’s daughter and always a good girl. And him being ornery and a womanizer. They are complete opposites. But when Jonathan hires Hayley as his assistant, seeing her everyday gets to be too much for him. So when Hayley tells him she wants him to teach her about sex, he can’t resist.
Neither of them expected to develop feelings for the other and they really didn’t know how to handle it. Hayley had no experience with men so she just tried to figure it out as she went. And while Jonathan had been with lots of women, he never felt anything for them. He believed he was bad and nobody would ever love him.
I liked Hayley. In her journey to get out of her parents house and on her own she found Jonathan who was not the easiest man to be around. She may have been inexperienced when it came to men but she wasn’t taking flack from anybody – even her boss. Jonathan was one sexy cowboy! He kept thinking that nobody would ever love him and he didn’t care. But he was a really good man who had looked after his sister all her life. He said he only cared about things, like Gray Bear Construction that he created, making him a very wealthy man.
This couple were good for each other. Hayley showed Jonathan he had more value than he ever realized. And that he had been loved and admired. Jonathan taught Hayley lots, too – in the bedroom and out. They were an unlikely couple who were surprised at their feelings for each other.
This is not just a sexy romance. This couple helped each other grow and mature into wonderful, lovable people.
I feel lucky to have won this book in a Goodreads Firstreads giveaway. I’m glad to have read it and so should you.
