For Sidney Hale, rescuing dogs is more than a hobby. It’s a calling. A deep-seated need. An unstoppable compulsion. For reasons so unsettling, she shares them with no one…until she meets Decker. After coming to her rescue while Sidney battled to save a dog—literally—the gorgeous SEAL proves he can be trusted with her secrets, her safety…maybe even her heart. Saving an abused pit bull from a … from a suspected dog fighter brings Decker “Gumby” Kincade not only the dog he’s always wanted, but the first woman in ages to catch his interest. Sidney’s reason for rescuing Hannah, and animals like her, is shocking…but it makes Gumby want her even more. Her harrowing past has made her the strong, brave, compassionate woman she is today. She could be The One…if Gumby can help curb her habit of putting herself squarely in danger’s path.
But he may be too late. Hannah’s previous owner is enraged over her loss…and looking for revenge.
** Securing Sidney is the 2nd book in the SEAL of Protection: Legacy Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Decker and Sidney met in an unconventional way.
I really liked the character of Decker. He was an upstanding man who was able to listen and protect the two females that have have come into his life. One being a female and the other a dog. Both have been traumatized and just need someone on their side.
Sidney was a character that I enjoyed for the most part. There were things she did that confused me and made me want shake her and ask her what is she doing. However with the trauma in her past, I kept thinking that I can’t be too hard on her.
I liked the relationship between Decker and Sidney but I also liked the relationship that started between Sidney and Caite. While it was a friendship in the background, I really felt that these two hit it off and could understand each other.
Susan never disappoints!
An excellent story. I am glad this story bring awareness to dog fighting. whether it is cock fighting or dogs it is dangerous and it is just wrong. Unfortunately I believe it is all too real. something needs to be done about it as well as human trafficking.
Savannah Peachwood was either a little better in this story or I have gotten used to her. I’m still not fond of her male voices.
Not as good as book one. I didn’t feel as if they had as much chemistry as other couples. Glad they got their HEA.
Securing Sydney, book 2 of Susan Stoker’s SEAL of Protection:Legacy, is an edge of your seat action packed suspence romance. Once again, Susan Stoker, has captured the essence of the alpha military man in her main character, Decker “Gumby” Kincaid. Ultra protective, and a determined champion of the vulnerable, he is devoted to his country and his SEAL team. And true to Susan Stoker’s style, Decker “Gumby” Kincaid is also one sexy man! Caught in a certain death situation, the team shared what they regret not getting to do. For Gumby ,it was owning a dog. So of course Susan has crafted this exciting tale around an unexpected dog rescue and the horrible dog fighting world.
His soul-mate, Sidney, Susan’s female protagonist, is not your typical damsel in distress. Nor is she a classic beauty. She is very able to hold her own with the bully animal abuser. She is as determined to rescue dogs from dog-fighting rings as Gumby is to protect those who are unable to protect themselves. A match made in heaven!
As I expected from the incredibly creative Susan, the relationship between her two main characters developed quickly into an intense , steamy romance. The devotion, the sex, the interaction made me long for a similar relationship. But the romance is balanced with the amazing tale of mystery and suspense that only Susan Stoker can write.
This novel was fast-paced and a enjoyable read. I love Susan Stoker and I love this series. I am on to book 3 but highly recommend you read Securing Sydney.
Some real hard hitting information in this story. There is some insight into what it could be like growing up with a serial killer. The heartbreaking and horrifying facts about dog fighting. Fortunately, there is a sweet romance on the side to help lighten up the story. And sweet beautiful Hannah, the abused pup, we get to love.
Hooked! I’m liking these ~ they’re almost soothing ~I know that’s not quite right, but they are! Drama, then an HEA! Decent plots . . . .fun! Thanks, Ms Stoker! I’ll be reading #3!
Another Awesome read by this author! Couldn’t put it down until I finished the book. Looking forward to reading more from this author!
The book was fun and I have the series bookmarked to read later. The hero is quality book boyfriend material. The h I liked but found her to be a little annoying at times. She rescues dogs from dog fighting and was asked by the hero to wait until he could be there to help, she doesn’t and gets kidnapped and seriously injured. He asked her to do ONE thing and she couldn’t do it. Her back story really explains why and she was aware of what was causing her behavior but couldn’t hold off for even a minute. I know what was a rant but I would still recommend it.
Wonderful writer, I read everything she writes.
Stoker should be the first name you think of when wanting to read romance with a twist!
All I can say is Wow
I do enjoy reading about another SEAL team find their true loves. This time its Gumby, Sydney was rescuing a dog and the guy was physically fighting her.I love how they come together.
What a great new series! I really liked Securing Caite, but I really favor Securing Sidney. For some reason, I really liked Decker, aka Gumby! And Sidney was a force. Then things turned so intense. I think I was sweating bullets! Great story! I devoured it!
Sidney
She had a frightening childhood and because of that she wanted to save every dog she came across He didn’t like her risking her life for a dog he had always wanted one so they both bond over this dog who has been abused they both give her a wonderful life they fall in love have sizzling romance and a wonderful happy ending author did a great job with the subject of fighting dog rings
I laughed and cried and loved the animals and characters in this story, anyone who reads it will love it.
I love the author. She never disappoints.
I hope to read the rest of the series. It was a good read
Series is great
Was unable to read due to the animal cruelty storyline. Very thankful the author gave a warning. Have read many of her other books and enjoyed very much!
Dog fighting scenes and training them to fight are hard to read, but realistic.
