This was such a good book! I loved the characters, the chemistry, and the romance and there was just enough danger, suspense, and action to balance it all. I also enjoyed that both Storm and Jane were middle aged and were upfront and honest from the start, no games – just I like you, I enjoy your company, I can see myself with you, let’s give it a go and see where it leads. They were really attuned to each other and their wants and needs and it was exciting to see their relationship grow , especially after the danger was resolved. It was not a love at first sight but it was quick-paced, yet discussed and planned; no one overwhelming the other with demands or expectations. There were also some fun times, laughable moments, serious discussions, heartfelt gestures, and a great HEA.
I’ve loved the SECURING series, especially Ace and Phantom’s stories. But I found myself wanting a little more with this series ender.
On the one hand, I loved that it featured a mature couple, Admiral Storm North and Jane Hamilton, who directs the mail department on the base. I loved the exciting beginning and the tense ending (the villain surprised me) where Storm showed that even with a desk job, this former SEAL still has what it takes to save the day.
But it dragged for me in between. Tender love scenes (a little steamy, but appropriate for a mature couple) and lots of internal dialogue about how Storm and Jane made each other feel, and how they found the person they needed at this particular time in their lives. I wanted more action, even if it wasn’t the mission kind.
But if you’ve read the rest of the books in this series, you’ll want to read this one, too.
Securing Jane by Susan Stoker
This is book 6.5 in her Seal of Protection: Legacy and also part of the 1001 Dark Nights series
I loved this book because both Jane Hamilton and Admiral Storm North have been in several of the SOP: L books and we finally get their story and HEA. This book has everything suspense, action, Jane’s past marriage, previous divorce and a rebel daughter plus the couple is older like myself so I was able to relate to them. With that being said this was a fantastic book and I give it 5 stars and wish I could give more .
Flawless!! This is a story about two people in the prime of their lives finding love and new beginnings. It is also a very exciting and suspenseful story with a really cool twist in the end. Storm and Jane were fun to get to know and I was rooting for them right from the first page. Couldn’t put it done!Flawless!!
Being a bit older myself it’s nice sometimes to dive into a story that involves characters more my own age, this was definitely one I really enjoyed. Jane may be just into hers 50’s but she’s no slouch, working really hard and long hours when needed, she’s raised her daughter, despite that not being the easiest and worked her way up in her job. She’s strong, independent and conscientious. Storm has put his career above everything including his private life, his team’s are important and he tries to do whatever he can to lesson any risks for their missions. While he has seen Jane and talked to her one morning, for some reason he actually sees her. While they start to get to know each other, there are things afoot to not make it easy. At times this was sweet, loving and even romantic, in others it was tense, suspenseful and even edge of your seat. There was a wonderful mix with a fast pace and exciting plot, I found it interesting reading. I loved that sex wasn’t the top priority or that it was 2 or 3 times a night or every night, because real life and at that age it really isn’t. The companionship and closeness is more important, being on the same page and talking, loving and supporting each other is. I love the acceptance and help the teams give along with friendship. A wonderful story to get lost in and enjoy. Started 10/3/21 finished 11/3/21
after being divorced for twenty years she finds her true love He had never been married she brought him his mail everyday but when she is in trouble all he can think about is her and he will do anything to keep her safe and happy they have sizzling romance after three dates he helps her daughter that makes her happy too they have a happy ever after everyone should have one no matter their age
A very quick yet highly entertaining, sexy, exciting and action packed adventure filled with engaging charters, witty banter, heart racing twists and thrilling passion. A great read.
This is the romance of an older couple and is sweet hot and romantic. Jane Hamilton is in charge of the mail room in the building Admiral Storm North works in. She is divorced, has a grown daughter and is very independent. She has had the biggest crush on on Storm forever and has hoped he’d notice her. Storm is a Navy man, former SEAL and now leader of several SEAL teams. He Keeps his head down and works hard. One day he sees Jane delivering his mail and something clicks. She is everything he’s ever wanted. He ask her out and that day she has a box explode with what turns out to be tear gas. Storm goes in search of her and gets her to the decontamination unit. Their relationship starts fast and furious. Storm is determined to keep his Jane safe but the bomber is unhappy with the failed attempt.
I read as many of Susan Stoker’s books as possible.
Securing Jane is the 7th and last book of Susan Stoker’s SEAL of Protection: Legacy Series and it is also a part of the 1001 Dark Nights collection by M.J. Rose, Liz Berry, and Jillian Stein.
Susan Stoker takes us through the story of Commander Storm North, a character who we have gotten to know through the different men and women making up the author’s writing career focused on the United States military and special forces.
Storm feels like he is too old to find love. Jane thinks that she is too old to have a crush on the base commander. It will take an attempted bombing for them to realize that they can have a future together.
This was a sweet and well-deserved ending to the Seal of Protection Series, and one that I have been waiting for since Susan Stoker introduced him to her readers. Savannah Peachwood’s narration, as usual, was on point, as she is one of my favorite book narrators for Susan Stoker’s books.
Thank you to both Susan Stoker and Savannah Peachwood for bringing to life another wonderful story!
Loved this story because it was about an older couple. Glad to read a story about Storm, Navy Seal, who has done alot for his teams and keeping them safe. Plenty of heat, action and a HEA.
Admiral Storm North has always been heads down and on top of everything his SEAL teams are doing or going to be doing. The thing is he hasn’t really done anything for himself. Today however he’s about to wake up and notice someone he should have long ago.
Jane has been working in the mail room on base since her Navy husband left her and her child twenty years ago. She’s worked her way up to manager but still delivers mail in the building herself. She’s been crushing on Storm since his office moved into her building and delivering his mail is always a bright spot in her day. She doesn’t delude herself that he’ll ever notice her, but that doesn’t stop the fantasy.
For the first time Jane and Storm had a conversation and he’s now decided to get to know her more everyday and then ask her out. Of course that’s when all hell breaks lose with a code black in the mail room.
Storm wasn’t about to leave the building without knowing if Jane was okay. Finding out she was locked in waiting decontamination, he wasn’t waiting. Pulling rank he entered the room determining the ‘bomb’ contained CS gas aka tear gas/pepper spray. This is where I fell in love with Storm.
While NCIS and Admiral Creasy work to determine who would send him the package, Storm and Jane’s relationship takes a leap forward. Through the suspense, intrigue, and danger, Storm and Jane manage to date and they start heating up the pages quickly. Although Jane isn’t going to be spared any of Susan’s antics when it comes to her heroines. I also love the fact they’re an older couple and it truly is a wonderful love story.
A perfect, page-turning end to the SEAL of Protection Legacy Series.
i love all things Susan Stoker but Securing Jane resonated with me. Sure there’s suspense, action and danger. But this is a love story between two mature, independent adults with flaws and personally perceived shortcomings. They enjoy just being just relaxing and being together just as much as making love. This, for me, was just a feel good romance.
New Release!
4 stars
Loved Storm and Jane. A seat of your pants read is always guaranteed when you read a Susan Stoker book. I loved the characters ages, mature and they wanted different things from when they were young. Loved the Shawshank connection and it’s just an all around feel good read.
I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Jane loves one of the perks of her job. Storm is the man in charge even though the meaning of that word has changed over the years. If you are a fan of military romantic suspense then you may want to see what this book is about. It’s a standalone so having read the other books in the series is not necessary but may be an incentive to see what you’ve missed.
We get to know a little bit about the main characters before the intrigue/suspense starts. It shows why SEALS and NCIS are good at their job without overtaking what is happening between Jane and Storm. Our author is very good at crafting the whole story from what both do for a living, to what creates the intrigue, to all the secondary characters. Their story held my attention from the very first paragraph.
The author takes her story one step further by creating characters that are over the age of 30. Life doesn’t end when you go beyond the big “3-O”. You can find that it’s still possible to have a relationship, still find love and have a fulfilling life. It shows that even older people can be romantic and find that happy ending.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
Loved the story!!! And Storm is a kick ass Book bf. He is a former SEAL and now in charge of multiple teams. We have met him before in encounters with our guys like roccos team and some contact with wolfs team and soon to be mustangs team when finding Elodie comes out. He is also a dirty talker and can really make a scene extra hot when they finally come together. Jane was awesome. We get a female lead who is strong and independent who is a little older than our SEAL team guys relationships because well our commander is older. I liked how they came together and he realized he had known her and hadn’t really seen her until he managed to finally look Up from all his work. They work well together and I loved seeing her meet and interact with his teams guys. Loved her moment with Phantom. Love all Susan Stoker books can’t wait for mustangs book.
Fabulous. Sweet and almost to good to be true. Jane and Storm know of each other for quite some time and it’s one incident that has them want to know each other and see where things might lead.
Y’all I love these quick reads by Susan Stoker and this one was no different. I loved both Storm and Jane. These two have known each other for years but Storm never really realized his interest in her. There relationship is fast paced and flows really well. They just work he is definitely alpha but he is more laid back than I expected.
