Caite McCallan is a Department of Defense admin working in Bahrain when a glitchy elevator, of all things, leads to an unexpected invitation to dinner by a gorgeous Navy SEAL. When he later stands her up, Caite’s understandably upset…until she overhears a plot that confirms Rocco didn’t blow her off. Instead, he and two fellow SEALs are in danger—and Caite is forced to put her career and her life … life on the line to save them.
Blake “Rocco” Wise never expected his routine mission to go sideways, but he was even more surprised to find himself and his teammates rescued by the adorably shy woman he met in a stalled elevator. Caite’s selfless act saved his life, but when attempts on her own make it clear someone wants her gone, it’s Rocco’s turn to protect the brave, sweet, sexy woman. The longer he knows her, the more he wants her…but keeping Caite close could bring her nearer to the enemy than ever before.
** Securing Caite is the 1st book in the SEAL of Protection: Legacy Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

How can you go wrong with a romantic suspense from Susan Stoker?
For such a small package, she sure packed a punch. Caite is quiet woman who usually prefers to be in the background. She is a woman who needs a job in order to pay her bills. A new job takes her overseas to a boss who isn’t very nice. She knows she does good work and plans to stick it out for the year that she is contracted to.
I LOVED her first meeting with Rocco. I loved the cramped stalled elevator, the weird flirting, and the fact that Rocco’s buddies were there to witness it. I especially loved that the three guys knew they could get out of this situation easily but they hung back and let Rocco do his thing! 🙂
Rocco is a NAVY SEAL who is great at his job and has a wonderful team to back him up. He was past the point of looking for a faceless hookup and when he met Caite for the first time, something snapped into place for him.
The suspense was amazing, the banter was fun and the sexy times were hot! What more could you want in a book.
If you love miltary romance, you HAVE to read Susan Stoker!
Susan Stoker writes excellent romance with lots of suspense but she has really outdone herself with this book. Securing Caite is the first book in her new Seal of Protection: Legacy series. YAY, we have a new crop of Navy Seals. I absolutely enjoyed Susan’s introduction to our new seal team. If you want to read a book that will have you saying “just one more chapter”, you need to read Securing Caite. I could not put the book down. I can not remember when I have ever read a book I loved so much.
Susan Stoker does military best!
I haven’t read anything by this author before but wow I’m hooked now. It’s a fantastic start to a series. Gripping, addictive reading and with characters who you can really root for. I like the camaraderie and that the leading lady isn’t a weak and pitiful damsel in distress but has a core strength and determination. I’ll definitely be reading more by this author and of this series!
I really enjoyed Blake (Rocco) & Caites story. I liked the overall premise; Caite working overseas, the dangerous location & needing to rescue the SEALS. Savannah Peachwood did pretty good with the main characters voice I wasn’t fond of some of the other male voices or the portrayal of Jessyca and Caroline. Having heard both their stories, they just didn’t fit right.
Really I love Susan Stoker books. They are the right amount of sexy, romantic, protective men, and loving strong women whom they love. They just make me smile.
Special Military Operations forces and romance are not very compatible. As a reader married to such a man, no one knows better than me how complicated that relationship can be. Except, maybe, Susan Stoker. In Securing Caite , Susan once again demonstrates an unique understanding of the intricacies of relationships under these circumstances. Susan has captured the personalities of these Alpha males who sacrifice their lives not only for country but the women they love. They can be uber protective, and scary when angered. Yet, they are willing to give the woman they love the world to make them happy and usually do give them more love than any woman has experienced before. The female main character in this novel, Caite, is not your typical starry-eyed beauty,or even a particular strong and independent woman. Yet, she is not your typical damsel in distress. Caite, finds inner strength she never knew she had when she meets Rocco and the members of his SEAL team.
The suspense and mystery , that Susan Stoker weaves into her stories has you glued to every word. Securing Caite, oozes with thrilling action from the first page to the last. And in the end Susan makes sure even the grinchiest of human beings believes that love truly conquers all. Susan Stoker guarantees happily ever after.
What I really enjoy is that the epilogue of Susan’s Securing Caite, hints at what the next book in the series is about. I am so glad I have book two, Securing Sydney, in my library! There will be no delay in jumping to the next book in the series.
Guaranteed to take the worries away and escape into an alternative world. Intrigue and mystery is in the order of the day. Keep you guessing until the last page who the culprit is. Exciting to be part of this close knit team.
Every start of a serie incredible! Love it
This story starts out slow but builds up dramatically . I definitely recommend this book.
I loved this story. It is so action-packed that I had to keep going to find out what happened. And the romance was fantastic.
I am in love with Caite and Rocco’s story! The moment I met caite the connection i felt with her just made me feel like I was reading about my self. The way she feels comfortable being the wall flower just worked. Rocco was the sweet alpha man that will have you swooning from the beginning.
Susan Stoker is an awesome writer. I have read other authors in her Stoker World Series and I realized I needed to go back through her catalog because these are some wonderful suspense books. Rocco and Caite’s story is a great beginning to her new series. Caite’s shy but strong enough to get out of her comfort zone and save 3 Seals causing her to now become a target. This story is full of drama and suspense with humor and family fun for relief. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
Caite and Rocco’s love story is a bit intense, but very sweet. They first meet in Baghdad, where she is a contracted Naval admin assistant, and he is there as a Navy Seal on a mission regarding an ancient artifact smuggling ring. Their “meet cute” is in an elevator, where there seems to be an instant spark between them, which is given a chance to grow a bit when the elevator breaks down and they are trapped (together with Rocco’s 2 teammates). They try to make a connection while he is in country, but circumstances don’t quite cooperate, and she even ends up saving their lives, before they are back stateside. But her actions have bigger consequences for her, and when she finds herself back stateside as well, and Rocco tracks her down, they re-kindle what started to smolder in Baghdad. There is a lot of sexual tension and cute banter between them, and their relationship moves at a decent pace, but things start to happen with Caite, and they eventually realize that circumstances have thrust her into the middle of their involvement in the smuggling ring case. The relationship “discord” really comes more in the form of the events that transpire around them and to them, that put them in danger, rather than any question between them of how they really feel about each other. The bigger question becomes can they overcome these obstacles and be together like they want to, rather than do they want to be together. Rocco is super sweet and considerate, but also very alpha and protective, it’s a nice mix. Caite is kind of a loner, but friendly and sweet, and they have a lot of chemistry. The story tension adds the right amount of drama to their story without it being annoying. The climax of the story almost seems a bit unbelievable, but at the same time, I guess if someone is desperate enough, they will make stupid decisions, and that is what happens here. Rocco and Caite get their HEA, and we get a nice sneak peek into the next book at the end, which should make for an interesting story as well!
Securing Caite –Susan Stoker – When writers spell their leading lady’s name funny, I bet they can never spell it the normal way again in their heads. I love military romantic suspense, and you are going to enjoy this cool group of SEALs! And Caite makes me proud to be a secretary! Happy Reading!
Caite lived and worked for the Department of Defense in San Diego. She heard if you worked in Bahrain you got paid much more money. So that’s exactly what she did. With all her dept Caite jumped at the job. While in Bahrain in an elevator going to work, in walks Rocco and his two friends. Not knowing at the time they were SEALs. The elevator breaks down and Caite just sits on the floor to wait. Once the elevator drops a bit the men kick into action. At that moment Caite realizes they could have been out of the elevator way before then. However, Rocco wasn’t in a rush and his friends knew. There was a strong connection between the two.
There was so much action in this story. Kept me on the edge of my seat so see what would happen next. Caite is one kick a@@ lady. She thinks what she had done to help Rocco and the others was no big deal. I love how shy but strong and Fiesta Caite is.
I have never read nor heard of this author. I was blown away at how much I loved this book. It has so much action and was so well written. I will definitely read the rest in this series. I am now going to look for more books by Susan Stoker. This is a standalone with no cliffhanger.
Lovely story with realistic characters. Great military scenario, ver enjoyable.
This was an excellent book that ended up hooking me on the entire series, and I am very much known as NOT being a series reader. The characters are fantastic, and seeing them in later books, watching that bond still be there, still grow, is amazing.
Caite is an every-girl and at first I eye-rolled a bit at the instant sizzle between the two, but by the end of it, by god, I was cheering them all on.
