What a refreshing change of pace.
This story is about Brenae and her husband Rear Admiral Dag Creasy. What was so refreshing about this book was the two leads were already together and had been married for many years and still very much in love.
Dag Creasy is a high ranking military man who on the outside is very direct and stoic. However the walls come down a little behind close doors with his wife. This is a man who is deeply in love. He knows that he can’t be the man that he is without her by his side.
Brenae is just a regular woman who loves her husband. She is strong on her own but knows that she has the love of a strong man.
Brenae is put in a scary situation and handles it like the amazing woman she is. She knows that her husband will stop at nothing to protect her but she also knows her own strength.
LOVE finding nuggets about us middle-agers. I may snow on the roof but there’s still heat in the stove!
Love this author! All the books in this series are awesome.
“Securing Brenae” is a short story in the SEAL of Protection: Legacy series, it is a quick read that packs a punch. Rear Admiral Dag Creasy ad Brenae have been married for almost three decades, but the passion between them is still off the charts. Brenae is smart and strong while at the same time being feminine and sweet, Dag is her protector, her lover and her husband. When an incident at the apartment complex they are living in until their new home is completed threatens the life of Brenae, Dag is reminded of just how quickly life can change.
This was a short, sweet, love story, that shows just how much Dag depends on Brenae and how much they lean on each other.
Who knew how hot an older high ranking, definitely Alpha, could be? I think I have a completely different picture of Dag Creasy. And Brenae is just as sexy and badass as all the other wives. Be sure to give it a read.
Dag Creasy and his wife Brenae has 30 plus years of parnership, ups and downs, love and marriage. They’ve built a solid foundation together. She’s his forever. The other half of his soul and she feels the sme. Now in the blink of an eye it could all be swept away. Not on his watch it won’t, he’ll do whatever it takes for his love, his wife.
I listened to this as a podcast and really enjoyed it even though it was a quickie! But then I read the book and was happy for the additional time with this wonderful couple so I enjoyed that even more. I loved that Dag and Brenae were in their 50’s and a well established long time married couple, but it was still true Susan Stoker style with the romantic suspense aspect of the story!! Excellent addition to this series.
Soul Mates!! Dag and Brenea’s story is intriguing, exciting and a beautiful romance. This is a mixture of Dag and Brenea’s beginnings but also the present they have created through yrs. of truly loving each other. I really enjoyed the look back to when they first met but my favorite parts were the love they had still in the here and now.
I loved getting a peek into the relationship between Admiral Dag Creasy and the love of his life, Brenae. It was great seeing how they met as young adults and managed to stay connected throughout their marriage and keep it sexy.
I read this after listening to its podcast, and I have to say it’s worth getting the book itself. Brenae and Dag are older characters, and, for a slightly older reader, it’s such a pleasure to read their story, their connection, and the heat they’re still generating. It’s also good to get a look at the commanders of the teams we always read about; it’s almost a behind-the-scenes insight into how they deal with the issues. We actually met Dag in Caite’s story, and we meet up with Caite again here. I can’t tell you if not reading Securing Caite makes a difference, because I had read it, but I can tell you that this is now one of my favorite Stoker books.
I liked it, but it was too short. Never again will I pay for such a quick read, even if I do love Stoker.
Wonderful addition to the SEAL series
I love Susan Stoker’s books. It doesn’t matter how long or how short the stories are enthralling.
It’s rare to see the higher ranking officers in a story, but in the first book of this series we do meet Rear Admiral Dag Creasy. This is more about him and his wife Brenae.
A love story of the highest order, as we see Dag in the aftermath of the circumstances that brought down a man who was his friend.
Brenae is the ultimate Navy wife, she has stood beside Dag from the beginning of his career to the present, from SEAL to Admiral it’s been quite the journey.
Now keeping in mind this is Susan Stoker, you know it’s not going to be all cuddles and love. Brenae and Caite find themselves in a fix without their phones. I could feel the shift from day to day to mission, when Rocco and Dag hear of the issue and take off to assess the situation.
I loved the way Brenae and Dag can interpret each others thoughts. Almost the same as Dag can with his teams.
With lots of love, laughter, tears, sizzling heat and just a bit of action, these two are an awesome couple and I hope we see more of them in this series.
We get a little glimpse of the Rear Admiral in this novella. Dag met Brenea 30 years ago before he was an officer or Seal. It was an instant and intense connection that still continues. It’s great to see who the commanding officer is and how he loves and lives.
Securing Brenae is one of the sweetest novellas I have read in a long time. It shows a glimpse into the lives of Rear Admiral Dag Creasy and his wife, Brenae, after thirty years of marriage. Stoker does a wonderful job of creating a realistic atmosphere for the storyline and relatable characters to enjoy.
The good stuff:
– You get a snippet of how Dag and Brenae first met
– You can feel the faith, love and devotion these two have for each other
– You get to enjoy more of Rocco and Caite (from Securing Caite)
– Aside from a look into their lives, there is still some pulse-pounding action and steamy romance
The wrinkle:
– It is a novella, so it is a short read and it will leave you wanting more
Even though this story is a stand-alone, it does reference an incident from book one. You do not have to read the first book to follow along but I think it would make it more enjoyable.
This novella is a quick read but it is packed with a lot of heart!
A bit disappointed
Dag and his wife Brenae have been together for three decades and finally they are building a house just for them and are temporarily living in an apartment close to Base. However, outside forces are against them! Will they be able to overcome or will Brenae die on his watch?
I really am enjoying this series, but a bit disappointed with the length of this novella and also the price I had to pay for it! Had I known it would be so short I might not have bothered. The story was good but not Susan’s finest
Absolutely loved this book it was nice to have an older couple. & Brenae & Dag are perfect well worth a read
I listened to this on the Read Me Romance podcast and loved it there. As soon as this came out I started and finished because I love Dag and Brenae’s story. I am glad to have gotten a little more of their story than was on RMR podcast. I loved how protective Dag was and loving and supportive Brenae is. This is one of my favorite Susan Stoker books.
This is a GREAT short peek into the world of the SEAL of Protection: Legacy series! We get to know Dag & Brenae, and see a bit of Rocco & Caite. It’s quick, STEAMY, and romantic. I loved seeing an already established couple, a little vignette into their life, and it’s Susan Stoker, so of course there’s some sort of something happening, as well. I thought it all fit wonderfully into this novella-sized package!! Oh, AND! On top of all THAT, we also get a glimpse at chapter 1 of Securing Sidney, which comes out soon. Happy me! : )
Susan Stoker’s Securing Brenae is the perfect listen for my walk today! What a treat! This novella is refreshingly original, featuring Dag and Brenae. These two have been married for over 30 years and the embers still burn bright between them. I loved that their age bracket, so close to mine making the listen so easily relatable. Full of passion and suspense, we get to see just how far they would each go to secure their safety and love. Savannah Peachwood gives a magnificent performance, using mature voices for the leads and younger voices for supporting characters. Read Me Romance’s podcast stole my heart and now has me looking to grab more of Susan Stoker’s amazing stories!
