Can you keep a secret? When art instructor Hannah Alexander agrees to accompany four of her students on a country house visit before Easter, she never dreams of entering into a dalliance with the owner David Tenant, the handsome new Earl of Brentfield. But one moment in his company, and she’s in danger of losing her heart. Raised in America, David has a hard time finding his footing as the new … footing as the new lord of the manor. As earl, he’s not supposed to notice the lovely art teacher, but Hannah’s knowledge might hold the key to uncovering who’s been stealing the priceless art of the Brentfield estate. So, aided by Hannah’s protégé, Lady Emily Southwell, the two set out on a treasure hunt that will bring them closer to each other, and to a killer.
This sweet romance with a touch of mystery was previously published by Zebra as A Dangerous Dalliance.
“I loved this book. The Colonial Upstart of an earl paired with a lovely art teacher is a brilliant stroke and the writing matches her plot . . . . This is a page turner, and I defy a reader to put the book down until finished.” – Noted Regency author Emily Hendrickson
5 Stars! “Secrets and Sensibilities had the perfect balance of love, danger, and humor. It was a fun novel that I had trouble setting down! I definitely recommend it to fans of clean Regency fiction that contains a dash of mystery and danger.” Britt Reads Fiction
5 Stars! “As the reader, I could not put down this novel. I read the entire story in one sitting. (Yes, I found this tale to be that good.) Hannah and David’s romance is but the first in this series. Each of the four young charges (Priscilla, Emily, Daphne, and Ariadne) will have their own stories told. And I am wasting no time in beginning them. Excellent! Highly recommended!” The Huntress Reviews
Five Stars!” I enjoyed this enchanting romantic suspense tale which was full of twists and turns throughout. I found this novel hard to put down and was up into the wee hours of the morning reading.” – Affaire de Coeur

Regina Scott’s irresistible characters will win your heart
Light Romantic Mystery
As the art teacher of a private girls school, Miss Hannah Alexander has secret dreams of supporting herself as a portrait painter. She knows a career and marriage won’t mix, but just maybe…
As the newly minted Earl of Brentfield, Lord David Tenant still holds his American roots within his heart. He knows he must marry, but he intends to only marry for love.
I enjoy mixing in a light and easy read after I’ve devoured some intense books. Secrets and Sensibilities is a perfect choice. It is a sweet and clean, faith-based romance with a predictable mystery. Regina Scott has deftly blended her characters with a simple plot. I like Hannah and David, and they work well together. The supporting characters are interesting and play their parts well. This stand-alone read has a sweet ending, but it is a bit clipped. Since there is not an epilogue, it’s not very satisfying.
Content 411: This is a faith-based romance that is very clean. There is no swearing or sex. This book is suitable for any age reader.
Second time to read this one, obviously I liked it a lot.
Miss Hannah Alexander is an art instructor for a girl’s school, and she’s been sent to chaperone four young ladies on a country house visit. She expects to be occupied keeping these four out of trouble, she does not expect to fall for the new Earl of Brentfield almost from the very moment she meets him.
I find it interesting that this first book of Lady Emily Capers series has very little to do with Lady Emily herself. We view this tale from the perspective of Hannah and David as they work to solve the mystery and threats that surround them. Lady Emily and her friends are minor characters.
The only reason I kept from rating this as five stars is because I am not a huge fan of love at first sight kind of stories. I much prefer the characters to come to know each other slowly. Beyond that, this is well written and highly entertaining!
I enjoyed the mystery aspect of the story.
Enjoyed each and every character and how their relationships wove together for the story. Well done!
This is a great romantic read with realistic characters with their own peculiarities. Their trials on the way to living a happy life together make a very interesting story. You cannot put this book down. Recommend.
This was an enjoyable read, entertaining. Liked the characters and the way the author made you care about them each personally. I’d definitely recommend this to any Austin fan, or any fan.
A regency romance, fairly well written. Predictable ending.
Really only 3.5 stars, but better than average.
This book just drew me in completely.
While some of the story didn’t feel true to the time the story was set in, it was a good read. I did find that I was skimming through parts to get to the “good” stuff though. I am curious enough about the characters to want to read the second installment.
Enjoyed this book. Had some action and some nice clean romance
I enjoyed this book and would be happy to read more.
Predictable plot but fun, fast ,easy read
Great book. Kept me interested til the end.
enjoyed this writer

Enjoyable characters although I would have liked to know more about Asheram, the friend and how Hannah continues to be an artist. It was good to see the girls evolving as well as Hannah. David was funny and even I was laughing at his antics. Good story.
Good clean read.
