From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Daughters of the Bride comes the charming tale about the problem with secrets, the power of love and the unbreakable bond between sistersKelly Murphy’s life as a tulip farmer is pretty routine—up at dawn, off to work, lather, rinse, repeat. But everything changes one sun-washed summer with two dramatic homecomings: Griffith Burnett—Tulpen … repeat. But everything changes one sun-washed summer with two dramatic homecomings: Griffith Burnett—Tulpen Crossing’s prodigal son, who’s set his sights on Kelly—and Olivia, her beautiful, wayward and, as far as Kelly is concerned, unwelcome sister. Tempted by Griffith, annoyed by Olivia, Kelly is overwhelmed by the secrets that were so easy to keep when she was alone.
But Olivia’s return isn’t as triumphant as she pretends. Her job has no future, and ever since her dad sent her away from the bad boy she loved, she has felt cut off from her past. She’s determined to reclaim her man and her place in the family…whether her sister likes it or not. For ten years, she and Kelly have been strangers. Olivia will get by without her approval now.
While Kelly and Olivia butt heads, their secrets tumble out in a big hot mess, revealing some truths that will change everything they thought they knew. Can they forgive each other—and themselves—and redefine what it means to be sisters?
Told with Mallery’s trademark heart and humor, the Tulip Sisters are in for the most colorful summer of their lives…

This was a wonderful read about the complications of family and especially between sisters. As young children, Kelly was her father Jeff’s daughter and Olivia was her mother Merilee’s daughter. When Merilee abandoned the family, everything was out of balance and eventually Jeff sent her to private school because Kelly suggested she was becoming out of control and could end up pregnant. Olivia never came back, but maintained contact with her dad. She also found and connected with her mom and began working with her in real estate. She learned that her mother was only out for herself and after a few years was dissatisfied and went home to the tulip farm. This is where our story begins – two estranged sisters learning to become friends and sisters again.
Other than wanting to (sometimes) slap Dad upside the head, I really enjoyed the family dynamics in this story. To be fair, I did NOT like Mom at all. Know that in this book, that is SO okay. Kelly and Olivia really do have a journey together and it was so entertaining to read how they achieve this. Griffith and Ryan, brothers who play big roles for these sisters, are great and ugh! You’ll have to read the book to find out which one is which. And Sven had a ‘WHA?????’ moment for me but otherwise, he was a great character. And his ‘moment’ was definitely a part of the story, not a ‘it didn’t fit’ item. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and recommend. All the characters are wonderful, even when you don’t like them much.
you will learn a lot about the flower industry in this book. it details how tulips are planted so that the correct color is available for the florist year around. but the two sisters are very interesting as the younger one was sent to boarding school when the older one left for college. you will also find their mother to be a less than desirable character in the book and she lands one huge surprise at the end of the book. this is a must read if you love funny, twisted plots that end well.
I enjoyed Secrets of the Tulips Sisters — a story about Katie, the older sister, and her estranged younger sister, Olivia, who comes back home after many years away. Their dad, Jeff, has been divorced for many years and Katie’s best friend, Helen, has been in love with Katie’s dad for a long time. Katie’s mom, Marilee shows up and stirs things up. New beaus and old beaus come and go in Katie and Olivia’s life. All this takes place in Washington State in the heart of tulip country. Other than a page or two discussion about Katie’s anatomy (which in my opinion wasn’t necessary — and I’m not a prude), this was a really enjoyable read.
A story set in the small town Tulpen Crossing, Washington. A town near Seattle. It’s a town where everyone knows everyone and it’s hard to keep a secret. Thirteen years ago a woman left her husband and children for life in a larger town with little more than a goodbye. One of her daughters, Olivia, was sent to boarding school not long after she left and hasn’t returned until now. Just as Olivia and her sister Kelly are rebuilding their relationship, their mother Marilee returns to town too and disrupts everyone’s lives. Olivia is back for the summer and takes on a fundraising event to help the town raise money to fix up one of their tourist attractions, a craft mall. Everything seems to be falling into place until secrets are revealed and things get turned upside down. There are some steamy scenes in this book, but it is a good story.
Good story lines and kept me interested. I would love to read how the characters moved on after this story. Thanks for another great story with women being strong, emotional, not emotional and much, more.
Only sisters of the heart could survive these secrets and only Susan Mallery can write a story like this one…Great read!!!
“Secrets of the Tulip Sisters” by Susan Mallery is a wonderful story about family and friendship.
So many emotions will flow through you as you get to know Kelly, Olivia, and Helen and follow them on their path to enlightenment and happiness.
Definitely recommend. I couldn’t put it down
Fantastic characters in a wonderful setting. We follow the lives of sisters who have been re-united and try to become family again.
Family, friends, love, romance, truth, stories within a story. Everything tat keeps you reading until the end, then makes you wish the story hadn’t ended, makes you want to know what’s happening after the story ends!
This writer’s style is smooth and natural. I find that quality is important to me.
I enjoyed this book very much. It’s a good lesson on keeping secrets from the people closest to you. Somehow those secrets always seem to come out & usually at the absolutely worst possible time. The characters are lovingly developed & seem like people we know.
Predictable, but interesting
Enjoyed the lightness of the read.
Loved the book and characters. Wouldn’t mind hearing more about the family say 5 years down the road.
I found this book to be ok. I enjoyed learning about the tulip farm but found the writing to be quite mediocre. We all know that in a romance of this nature the book is not going to be unpredictable but still the journey should be an interesting one. I finished the book but it was not one that will stay with me.
How two sisters found friendship and loyalty after years apart is relatable to many siblings.
Cute book, easy page-turner, put a smile on my face at times but wrapped up too tightly and tritely for my taste.
Love Susan’s book. Charming characters who could live next door. This was so good I read it in one day!
